Lucy always ended up getting herself deep into situations. All kinds, ranging from her marriages, to her rape, to her abortion, and to her eventual "extended vacation" from Dallas.

What I was wondering was Lucy's problems a product of her enviroment (her family) or herself?

I think it was a bit of both. Lucy was brought up in such a way, that she became the spoiled Ewing grandaughter. I think that the reason she got into so many complicated situations, is because she was brought up in them. I think that Lucy always had to be in the middle of some drama, but at the same time I think it was both a product of her family and herself that caused her to be that way.

I think most people's fate is what cards were dealt to them or because of what kinds of actions they took in their own lives. I believe in fate mostly.

I think Lucy's outcome was brought on by two things: Her family's problems; How she dealt with all of her own problems. I certainly wouldn't have done what she did. She didn't have much a good upbringing and whenever Pam and Bobby had time, they tried to help her out with her problems. Everybody else had their own problems to work out. She and Mitch could have had a go at their marriage. Even though Mitch hated "rich folk", he married Lucy because he loved her. Lucy didn't have any interests in anything. I don't think she even graduated from college. What did she major in? Did she graduate? It seemed like she did. But, I thought she just dropped out of college and separated from Mitch and then landed that modeling job. She just sponged off her rich family and didn't have any purpose in life. She could have become a career woman. She could have started her own oil company or made something out of her life. She jumped from one man to another. It seemed like she was always looking for love and couldn't find it. I think if she tried harder in life, she wouldn't of had all those problems in her life. She sure did waste a lot of her life.
