Hi! I watched the episode today and I know exactly which line you mean. Here it is: Jock: "It's about time you learned the art of subtlety." J.R: "Well why should I be subtle?" Jock: "Because the lack of it turns competetors into enemies and enemies into fanatics!" Hope this helps!

It's funny that you mention that line. It's definitly a great use of foreshadowing, for future events caused by JR.

Think about how many people he destroyed, but wasn't subtle about it. And people did try to kill him and hurt his family because of that. He did turn many enemies into fanatics. Jock was definitly a wise man, and JR should have taken his Daddy's advice.

Yes, but the difference was Jock was more direct in knocking people out of the way. JR was much more devious.

It's funny that Jock was giving JR a lesson in subtlety...later in one of the episodes Ms. Ellie tells Jock that HE needs to learn the art of subtelty!!! Does anyone remember this?

Is that Jock quote from the very first episode?
