Great Scene

I love the scene in "Digger's Daughter" where Pamela and Bobby drive down the driveway to Southfork. I like how they play the theme music in the background, too.

It's kinda sad when you think about how much all of them have been through since then.

Ya, Frankie! It's great to look back at the earlier eps and see how they used to look, what kind of person they were. What we all know happened to everyone of them. How sad it is to see some of them gone, too http://www.soapchat.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif But I enjoy, and probably always will, seeing what once was and what is now. Some sad and some good.

Today was firsts and lasts on TNN, so they showed both the first and last episodes of Dallas. If I had never seen Dallas before, the only thing that would let me know I was watching the same show by the final two episodes is the names of the few characters who were also on the first episode. Even then I would have had my doubts. New credits, many new cast members, awful writing, and blah acting. Those who had been on from the begining were totally different people. Conundrum was definate proof that the show had been totally destroyed. Digger's Daughter is such an excellent episode, I can't believe they went from excellent to just plain awful. I wonder what David Jacobs thought of the transformation of the show. It's funny, he wanted no more ties between Dallas and Knots Landing, yet he allowed Gary and Val to appear in the final episode. I also wonder what the actors who hadn't been on for a while thought of the change, such as Ted Shackelford, Joan Van Ark, Mary Crosby, etc. I don't see how they managed to take the show so far off track. It's a damn shame!

Actually I think the split happened the other way around. After the dream season, the producers of Knots decided to "sever" ties so to speak with Dallas.

Of course, that doesn't apply to the Actors. Ted Shackleford can do whatever he wants.

I know that David Jacobs didn't have control over what Ted Shackleford and Joan Van Ark acted in, but I thought that he owned the rights to the characters of Gary and Valene. Maybe I'm mistaken, can anyone clear this up?

I think the writers went too far in losing all of the central characters. They killed off more good characters in the old days then they had left in th end. The way Bobby and J.R. and the rest of the family, all spilt, ended up was a travesty. They couldn't possibly have thought that was what the fans wanted.
