When TNN showed Ewing Inferno (1982-83 season finale) and The Road Back (1983-84 Season premier) I notcied there was a great contrast in the picture quality. For some reason the year JR and Bobby battled for Ewing Oil (82-83) the picture quality seemed to be very washed out, yellow, and of poor contrast.

When the next season rolled around it seemed like the show was being filmed with different cameras and by different cameramen. The 83-84 season has a much better picture and the camera shots are more creative (Did you notice how the characters are not centered in the shots anymore, which gives a fresh, and intersesting appearance.)

This is not the first time there was a change, it seems that throughout the series the picture quality was always changing, but it was during the middle of the series that I feel it has the best look.

I think that point it switched from straight film to film on video which looks a little cleaner.

This happened on a view occasions that I notcied.

During the dream, the film seemed to be a little hazier, but the season after Pamela woke up, everything was extremely bright. Bobby's pinkish shirt he wore jumped off the scream. It was kind of a testament that the dream was over, and things were awaken.

This happened after JR was shot by Sue Ellen too. Everything got a lot brighter in the next season. It's fun to watch a mini-series episode and then watch one in the last season. It is completely different colours. You can see this in the last episode a little when at the beginning, it flashes the cliffhangers from the prior seasons. It's interesting.
