View Full Version : J.R. Sell Cliff His Half of Ewing Oil? OH, HELL NO!

In the last season of Dallas, when Michelle sells half of Ewing Oil to Cliff and half to J.R. to get revenge on both of them, I never did believe for a second that J.R. would sell his fifty percent to Cliff. Then out of the blue, that's exactly what he does! Listen, I don't care if Cliff had 99 percent of Ewing Oil and J.R. only had 1 percent, he would never let any part of his daddy's company that he owned get out of his hands. He sure as Hell wouldn't have let Cliff win with out a fight. J.R. always manipulated, always fought, and always destroyed and won, no matter what the circumstances were. Like McKay said "I wouldn't trust J.R. if he were broke selling pencils on a street corner." I never thought I would say this about Carter, but smart man. J.R. would make it so hard on Cliff that CLIFF, not J.R., would give up his fifty percent. I guess it's just another fine example of the lame writing of the later years.

What do you all think?

Yes, that was completely rediculous. JR would never do anything like that without making sure the Westar deal was a lock. And he would NEVER have all of Ewing Oil owned by a Barnes in ANY case.

Totally,
NEVER would a tramp like Michelle and a loser, Chinese food eating fool like Cliff ever get their hands on Ewing Oil in the good old days. Thats why I don't consider anything after 87 credible Dallas.

Exactly. This also didn't make J.R. Returns make sense. In J.R. returns, J.R. tries to get Ewing Oil away from Cliff and talks about how much he hates Cliff owning Ewing Oil and sitting at his daddy's desk. Then why did he sell his fifty percent to him in the first place?! That action was extremely out of character for J.R. I wonder what happened to the original writers of Dallas. They've been sorely missed, let me tell you, lol!

You know, if you would ask me the question "By the end of the series, who owned Ewing Oil?" I wouldn't have a clue. Even from watching JR Returns I didnt really know. I thought a lot had happened offscreen.

To tell you the truth, by that point in the show, I just didnt give a damn anymore. To me, Dallas ended when Pamela's car crashed. I also just pretend that the little investigation into Ewing Oil never happened and the Ewings still have Ewing Oil. Hey, whatever it takes for me to be happy, lol. I think just making up an ending to the show in your head is better than anything that we could get in a reunion.

No matter how good a third reunion would be, it still would not live up to what we all have, over the past years, been dreaming up in our heads. I have my own little personal ending to the show, how every character is getting along now, and for me, that is good enough. Not to say I would not like another reunion, which at this point wont happen, but I am content with my little made up ending.
