View Full Version : There's something about Charlie

Stealing some from Jock's ideas about Charlie, imagine Charlie grown up. What role would she play on Dallas? Would she be good, bad or in-between?

How about who should play Charlie? Shalane McCall? Or someone else?

I see Charlie working for JR, trying to get even with Bobby every chance she gets. Bobby doesn't really see this side of her, because she plays nice to his face. Some poor guy is hopelessly in love with her and willing to do her bidding. I see Sandra Bullock playing Charlie(I think soemone else said that first), and Matthew McConaughey playing Punk Anderson's grandson who's in love with Charlie.

JR: "Bobby, you're becoming a regular little detective"
Bobby: "Well, JR, that's a handy talent to have with a brother like you"

I think Charlie will uncover proof that Bobby is her father, go on a crusade to get her share of the money, supporting herself waiting tables at the Hot Biscut while staging her legal battle led by an older, bald, hairier-chested Alan Beam. Meanwhile Pam returns because she thinks Jenna will be
making another run at Bobby too.

Good ideas Pam! I think that if one of the Cartel like Marilee Stone's nephew played Charlie's love interest. Punk Anderson's grandson would be another good choice. It's got to be someone within the Dallas family. Keeping it more interesting. Just like putting in Anita Smithfield with J.R. That was a great idea. I think Charlie would have a good side and a bad side to her. She seemed to have a hard time dealing with Bobby and Jenna breaking up back in the old days. I like the idea of her working with J.R. and not quite as vile and evil as he is, but coniving in a small way. I like the idea of her trying to have a daughter-relationship with Bobby again and finally putting closure on their relationship and accepting Pam as Bobby's true love.

I also like Sandra Bullock playing her. I'm not quite sure about the male part. Remember that Charlie has got to be close to 30 today. But someone with dark features definately. I think Sandra could pull it off.

Also,
Charlie will be played by Jennifer Annisten
and Alan Beam will be played by Steve Bushemi and Charlie's love interest would be Cliff's long-lost and vengeful son, Cliff Jr.

JockEwing, you always make me laugh! I never thought of Charlie really being Bobby's daughter, because it had been proven that she wasn't. But that would be a great way to stir things up. Charlie could find out Bobby's her real father, and somehow think that Bobby has known for years but totally denies the fact. That way Charlie could have a real reason to resent Bobby.

If Bobby found out after all these years that Charlie is his, he would treat her like a daughter and make it up to her. That wouldn't cause any conflicts.

They never actually did any paternity tests on Charlie and Bobby, did they?

SE35, I like your idea of Charlie's love interest being a cartel member, and he definitely should have some tie to a long term Dallas character. I would love it if he was Marilee Stone's real son! That would make him a pill.

Just a thought, I know the timing's off, but what if Marilee and Cliff had a son-Cliff Jr. Maybe Marilee gave him up for adoption years ago, then he re-surfaces. That would make him the right age, only Cliff and Marilee would have been together earlier than when they were on the show.

I have always thought Charlie could play a central role in Dallas, actually I always thought it was a mistake to axe her at a point where she was watchable and could of had some good storylines.

But now i see Charlie as being a Paige (knots) type of character, confident, sarcastically witty with a coolness and hard exterior and take no crap attitude.

My fav Dallas storylines involved the whole cast, this especially happened when the family all had shares in Ewing Oil. I would once again like to see this setup with perhaps Charlie controlling Rays interest.

How old would she be now? about 29, 30?

What happened to Shalayne Mccoll anyway?
I read somewhere that she had completly dropped out of show buisness. Can anyone shed some light on why? It said she was emancipated at 16, maybe she had a hard time with her family, brought on by semi-stardom.

She did some modeling and was with Brad Pitt before he became a mega star. I had such a huge crush on her.

I like the idea of Sandra Bullock playing her, but I doubt she would do a TV Show. After all, with mega hits like Speed 2(sarcasm), she can be pretty choosy.

Steve Buscemi? Hilarious idea! He might be a little old for Alan Beam. Maybe he can be a lost child of Digger.

well, according to the "shalane mccall appreciation page" shalane got married to a struggling rocker when she was 17, and now days works in a library somewhere in california. sad isn't it? i have ALWAYS believed that charlie would have made a great central character! charlie, in old episodes, was always really smart, but very passionate. this was most evident when bobby and jenna broke up, because even though bobby wasn't her biological father, he was her "emotional father". if you remember renaldo marchetta, her biological father, was a huge psycho that kidnapped her and eventually led to her mother being imprisoned! if she came back, it would work if christopher and john ross, who would be of age to be working at the company, let her into ewing oil because they consider her family (they basically grew up with her!) the boys would be basically like their fathers, but charlie would add a totally new aspect into the mixture. she would be smarter than both of them and more passionate too. that way she could out do both of them in sweetness and manipulation! her years of sparring with ray, who was always a little weird with her, would have prepared her. she would also love and resent bobby equally. she loves him, because she still thinks of him as her father, but resents him because he walked out on her in a real way! she would also feel really protective over lucas. she would feel that bobby abandoned him too, and that could be the reason she seeks a bit of revenge! HA! charlie was 13 when jenna came back in '83. so that would make her 30 (in november -- from her birth certificate when katherine found it...) john ross and christopher would both be in their early 20s. perfect timing! just getting out of college and starting in the company :0)
