Socialists by there constant tearing down of the "War on Terror" ........and specifically the battle going on in Iraq .......only supports these guys.

And .....btw ........going into Iraq and checking for WMD's really drew these guys out. The battle field is set.

Qaeda Has 18,000 Militants for Raids - Think Tank

Tue May 25, 6:02 AM ET

By Paul Majendie

LONDON (Reuters) - Al Qaeda has more than 18,000 militants ready to strike and the U.S.-led occupation of Iraq (news - web sites) has accelerated recruitment to the ranks of Osama bin Laden (news - web sites)'s network, a leading London think-tank said on Tuesday.

Al Qaeda's finances were in good order, its "middle managers" provided expertise to Islamic militants around the globe and bin Laden's drawing power was as strong as ever, the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) said.

It warned in its annual Strategic Survey that al Qaeda would keep trying to develop plans for attacks in North America and Europe and that the network ideally wanted to use weapons of mass destruction.

"Meanwhile, soft targets encompassing Americans, Europeans and Israelis, and aiding the insurgency in Iraq, will do," the institute said.

"Galvanized by Iraq if compromised by Afghanistan (news - web sites), al Qaeda remains a viable and effective network of networks," it said.

The IISS said al Qaeda lost its base after the toppling of the Taliban in Afghanistan in late 2001 but had since adapted to become more decentralized, "virtual" and invisible in more than 60 countries.

"The Afghanistan intervention offensively hobbled but defensively benefited al Qaeda," it said.

The institute said 2,000 al Qaeda members and more than half of the group's 30 leaders had been killed or captured.

The IISS said the 1,000 al Qaeda militants estimated to be in Iraq were a minute fraction of its potential strength.

"A rump leadership is still intact and over 18,000 potential terrorists are at large with recruitment accelerating on account of Iraq," the IISS said. It gave no source for the figure.

Purported video and audio tapes by bin Laden have appeared from time to time despite a U.S.-led manhunt since the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington to capture him "dead or alive."

"Bin Laden's charisma, presumed survival and elusiveness enhance (al Qaeda's) iconic drawing power," the IISS said.

It said al Qaeda was reported to be exporting extremism on a global scale with "middle managers" providing planning, logistical advice, material and financing to smaller groups in Saudi Arabia and Morocco and probably Indonesia and Kenya.

The IISS said the Madrid train bombings in March suggested al Qaeda had now fully reconstituted and had set its sights firmly on the United States and its closest allies in Europe.

Just my opinion.

I also saw where a Top Al-Quida leader said that at least 4 million Americans need to die for an Islamic Victory.

Who has made this a religious war now?

Not me. http://www.soapchat.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Let me see if I've gotten your stance correct...You were wrong to invade Iraq, fail to see that or at least admit it, and now you're blaming the fiasco of a war plan and the fact that al-Qaeda now has thousands more recruits because of this war, on people like me who thought that the choice to invade Iraq would cause more terrorism????? http://www.soapchat.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Sounds like perfectly rational thinking. http://www.soapchat.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Your words........not mine.

I don't think we were wrong to invade Iraq .....even though more than a few western countries didn't have the stomache for the tough work .

And why would we admit error when we believe we did the right thing.........???? You sound like the New York Times.............*L*.

I don't know if there is a war plan that goes as "slick as a minners back" .........and I don't think this plan has failed. You never know .....the Iraqy people may still gain something from this effort.

You really do believe in the Al Quaida .........when are you joining the recruits.......?? How good are you at dodging bullets.............???......*L*.

Just my opinion.

I have no doubts that something good will eventually come to Iraqis with Saddam Hussein gone. However, it won't come with Americans dictating to them how to think and when to think it. It will come when the rest of the world bails the United States out...once again! http://images.bravenet.com/brpics/smilie/wave1.gif

Laurie ..........your last post was the all time most pathetic post you have ever made. You are hitting an all time low.........*L*.

If you need to be reminded again .........the U.S.A. went to the United Nations ....before we entered Iraq ........and.....asked y'all to stand up for the 14 original resolutions passed by the U.N. body which forced Saddam Hussein's regime to uphold the surrender agreements of the first Gulf War.

After that ......... the U.S.A. asked for a new resolution to form a coalition of countries to fight a battle in the "War On terrorism" and to remove Saddam.

Those two separate requests were denied by the U.N.

You and others .........who chose the .........."French Model" ....of appeasement complained that we were not taking action through the United Nations.

Now when our government asks the United Nations to get involved for a third time .............you only criticize President Bush.

That is why I can't even criticize your argument as that of coming from the socialist playbook ............. cuzzzzzzzzzz .......it is sooooooooooooo pathetic. You are only a constant complainer.

Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ..!!

Just my opinion.

I accept your appology R.B.
I was simply stating all the political crap that stays on the news all day in and day out gets really annoying.
I wasn't throwing off on you.
But that comment about the man of the house did make my blood boil. Because you have no idea what goes on in my household, who the bread winner so to speak is,etc just like I have no idea what goes on in your household, and I did not appreciate it, but since you appologized it's all good, just try to be more considerate.

Why does the term "the rest of the world" mean members of the United Nations? http://www.soapchat.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif I simply meant that a time will come when you need your friends...it always does. You can't keep isolating yourselves, thinking that you don't need them. Hey, I truly hope I'm wrong, but....

Sky, I love your comments.........Why is it that the man has to be the head of the household, us ladies can hold our own too, and in todays society are getting better jobs and supporting our families just as much as the men do......I didnt like that comment either!!!!R.B. you cause tooooooo much controversy and i also agree with Sky that you need to lay low on the political threads, I just think that you like arguing with Laurie...Now I dont know much about politics, but quit knocking the LADIES and our opionions because it seems that Laurie knows her stuff....we really shouldnt have gone over there in the first place, and I think Bush should be bringing the troops home now, my only worry right now is the terrorism level because i am flying to Cali and coming home July 3........

Of course theres still al quaida out there to be reconnoitered with and such and killed off. Its hard work b/c my daddy when he was head of the CIA funded and taught the al quaida all that they know today. This whole election campaign is such hard work to. I wish I was dictater of this great country already. I would reinstitate my TIPS program where you neighbours spys on you and tells me all the illegal stuff your doing like having abortions or assisted suicide. If I caught you aborting or trying to kill yourselfs I would have you executed on death row by lethal hanging injection shooting darts. There would be no more boobies on tv no more howerd stern neither. Every man woman and child over the ages 14 would carry fully automatic urban assault rifle guns on there hips on American dirt to prootect against terroristic attacks like I scheduled for this summer with al quaida. Each American boy killed over in Iraq translates to another vote for me this November!! Bring Em On al quaida!!
