Best theme? Primetime or Daytime...

I'd say "Melrose Place" has the best theme song out of all the nighttime/primetime soaps. "The Young & the Restless" has the best theme for the daytime soaps.

I LOVE the Melrose Place one as well as The Colbys.

As for daytime I'd have to give it to One Life To Live or All My Children.

I liked the Dallas, Dynasty, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest, and The Colbys theme songs, so it's hard for me to choose when it comes to primetime.

I think The Young & the Restless has the best daytime theme song. I also liked the theme song for Santa Barbara.

I haven't see any of the daytime themes but there's no doubting (I think) that Knots Landing wins the primetimers hands down. It was just such a flexible theme tune that could be played fast or slow, upbeat and jazzy or softly for the more tender moments such as Sid's passing or Gary & Val's third marriage ceremony.

Jerrold Immel was simply a genius!!!

Definitely "Dallas". The absolute best. The easiest one to hum and the one that set the trend for all the rest. A fantastic suspeseful and dramatic opening to possibly the Greatest TV show of all time.

I love the "Knots Landing" theme song from 1982-1983 the best. It was the best theme song in all of TV, IMO. All of the other versions were awesome as well.

"Dallas" had a GREAT theme. I love the 1981-1982 version.

"Flamingo Road" also had a wonderful theme song. The 1981-1982 version is better than the 1980-1981 version.

"Dynasty" had such a classy theme it's hard to pick one.

"Falcon Crest" is the same as DYN.

I like OLTL and AMC for Daytime but those are the only two daytime soap operas I watch
