I loved Amanda on Melrose Place. She was real. In the melrose place, the plots were OTT and sometimes a bit ridiculous, but one thing I loved is that the characters themeselves always stayed down to earth. They never owned mansion or drove expensive cars.
Amanda was a typical modern day career woman. Her job meant everything to her, she was financially secure and independent since she owned a building on the side.
She never let a man control her. When she wanted one, she got him, then dropped him like a piece of trash when she was done with him.
She wanted Michael during her illness and used him, then once she got cured, she dumped him.
Note how the writers never made her owner of DD Advertising, she was just the president, she became owner of half of it later on. It's funny because all the backstabbing at the agency had to do with her wanting to be president not becoming owner.
I lover her outfits and those mini mini skirts. She wasn't glamorous she was just a typical career woman.
