Did anyone watch the E true story of Melrose-- I missed it. Can anyone sum it up for me? Any interesting tidbits?

I don't have time right now to do a full blown reply, but Vanessa Williams was very bitter, it seems everything she says is true, and the producers tried to say something else, but ended up only saying that MP did become a "white bred" show as she called it, but it wasn't intentional.

Did you know Vanessa went to the wrap party to celebrate they were coming back for another year only to be fired before the next season?

Greg (at the bathroom door during a fight): "I don't want to break this door down...it would be too theatrical."
Laura: "Not to mention *stupid*, since it's not locked."

The whole program was really tame. The actors were too professional and too busy shooting that there were never any scandals except for the Hunter tylo one. The program went on a season by season basis.

It's definetely obvious that Vanessa Williams was kicked off the show because she was "black". The casting directors tried to cover it by saying that there were minorities lawyers and employees at D&D but never as lead. Aside from guest appearances from Jasmine Guy and Karyn Parson.

Vanessa Williams almost cried. I personally think that it had something to do more with her appearance/portrayal. If Vanessa Williams #1 or Halle Berry or even Jasmine Guy were playing that role, they sure would have not hesitated to have Rondha do bed-hopping scenes with Grant Show and keep her on the show.

Nevertheless it's still the Writer's Fault

Well what can you say, she wasn't right for the formula. BULL!!!!

I personally never liked the character of Rhonda. She was just too boring. She was ok whne she lived with Sandy but other than that they really didn't have any good writing for her. I don't think it was b/c she was black although they could have brought in Jasmine Guy or another black actress as a different character & wrote better for her. I was glad to see Rhonda go b/c Sidney came on & she was my favorite character. Rhonda was too tame for the crazy Melrose place.

ALL the characters were too tame for Melrose. Once Amanda came and things got crazy the people got crazy. Rhonda was great early on, then they gave her that dull boyfriend and she lost all spunk. I think they should have done more with her and she would have worked.

I missed it, so I will try to watch it tonight.

Spelling doesn't discriminate, I remember reading that the producers did not feel that an aerobic instructor would work well with a soap opera that's why Rhonda was written out.

Chris, are you enjoying MP now, it's should be in its second season and things are very melodramatic, where exactly is style in the airing, did the Michael and Kimberley car accident episode air already.

Abbylexis, I LOVE this show! You got me hooked to Dynasty and now Melrose! Thanks! Michael and Kimberley haven't gotten in the accident yet! When does she get that huge scar I keep seeing? I can't wait for that. I really like her.

Back to Rhonda, they said nothing about Spelling having anything to do with Rhonda's firing. The writer they kept showing was the one who said there was nothing they could do with her character. They said the same for Sandy. I don't think thats true. In the first season a lot of them were dull like that, Rhonda could have been boosted. I think they could have done lots with her. She could have also gotten another job, btw. That job was just adding to the stereotype.

Glad you love it. From season 2 to season 5 the show is a hit. almost everyone leave after the fifth season and the show never recovers.

Anyway, After Kimberley and Michael's accident. Michael becomes paralyzed and Kimberley's mother takes her daughter back to her hometown and makes everyone believes that she's dead. Michael is then blackmailed by Sydney into Marriage since he was driving under the influence. When they start enjoying their marriage, Kimberley shows up for revenge and that's the beginning of psycho kimberley. the scar is caused by the accident where she looses all her hair. Her revenge story is the main plot for the season 2 cliffhanger.....

I never gave too much credit to Heather, yes Amanda was a great character but only worked well with sydney and Kimberley. it's like the Charlie's demons, The Bitchy one, the sluttly one and the psychotic one.

Kimberley will pull the sickest plots ever. Her biggest one will be the third season cliffhanger, there's also her split personality Betsy and a couple of others....

"Shh... Don't Cry!"
Alison's father on her wedding day right before she remembers him abusing her when she was a child.

They could have been creative with Rondha. They were just too busy focusing on the sexier characters.

For instance in season 2, Matt ends up marrying a russian doctor for immigration purposes. One good plot for Rondha would have been her wanting to get pregnant and having Matt donate his sperm. This could result in custody battles between Matt and Rondha.

or about, Rondha becoming a model after being signed by D&D Advertising for a campaign featuring athletic ladies. She suddenly becomes this super-model and fame begins to affect her life and she later turns to drugs.

and what the heck? She could hook up with Billy in the third season, after he and alison's break their engagement.

The list can go on of possible plots for her for at least two or three seasons....

just finished watching it. There was no behind-the scenes juicy materials except for Grant show and Laura Leighton dating which I knew already and then she dumped him for Doug Savant.

The Hunter Tylo scandal was very publicized and I followed it religiously. I really can't stand Hunter Tylo, she's very demanding. I don't think she could have played Taylor, Lisa Rinna did a better job. Also, I don't think it was against the fact that she was pregnant, it was more like storyline-purposes, she would not really be fit to play a bed-hopping vixen while being pregnant.

With Heather Locklear's pregnancy, it was different. Heather was the reason there was a show to begin with. and her pregnancy could be easily accommodated into the show because By late season 5 and season 6, Amanda becomes a good girl or Heroine. She wasn't sleeping around anymore or destroying people's lives so the writing did not require a lot of physical activities with Heather Locklear.

Lisa Rinna's pregnancy was also different, the actress was leaving the show.

The Matt kissing another guy on the season finale of season 2 was talked about so I knew that one.

The third season cliffhanger being pushed to the fall, I had already read about that.

I still want to know how they actually shot the explosion.

One thing they forgot to mention was that the first episode of season 4, where the building blows up originally aired on september 11th, 1995.

I am glad to hear that the actors never did drugs and alcohol, except that Jack Wagner mentioned that he was doing it on his own.

The workload was too much. No wonder why the seasons are very long when you watch MP in syndication. 32 episodes for the first three seasons, and 34 for the remaining seasons. i think the reason is that it's difficult to show repeats of a soap during a season, it gets the viewer confusing.

It was a great true story. Good Job E!

Sydney: Jane, Whatever, i have done to you in the past, this night has totally made up for it

Jane: He's not buried deep enough.

Abbylexis, I saw a recap of the court case, and they asked Hunter Tylo on the stand how many months pregnant she was, and she stood up and said 9 months. You could not tell she was one month pregnant, so your wrong on that one.

Also, I don't think Hunter is demanding. She's always seemed nice back since her B & B days.

appearance can be deceiving.

The woman had a lot of scandals, then she suddenly calmed down and became a christian. That's when she started getting picky.

Before she got into Melrose Place, she told the producers that she wasn't going to walk around naked or half-dressed because of her religion. Well, what do you expect, if you're gonna play in a show like MP, You know that you will be half-dressed at some point.

Also if you see Taylor in season 5 and the kinda storylines she was involved you would think twice about giving that role to a pregnant woman.

I don't blame her for not wanting to take her clothes off. People do have standards you know. I'm sure she could have still been sexy, and her pregnancy wouldn't have been a problem. Heather and Lisa both played sexy characters pregnant so boohoo!

of course, people have standards. BUT, if you're gonna play a melrose place character you know you gonna have to compromise a little.

Lisa Rinna's pregnancy was written into the storyline.

To accommodate Heather Locklear's pregnancy, They wrote a very stupid storyline which is the main plot that really killed melrose. Amanda and Samantha's small airplane crash into the woods. Amanda becomes paralyzed and has to spend many episodes in an hospital bed and in a wheelchair.

I am sure that if Heather Locklear had been pregnant in season 3 and 4, the writers would have had a problem.

Again, I don't know if you've watched the Lisa Rinna episodes of season 5, but once you do you'll see that it would have been difficult to the writers to hide her pregnancy.

She was in the pool every other episodes. She was always walking around in lingerie.
