I was wondering if anyone has a synopse of what happened in the two episodes where the fire ripped through the mansion. Or better yet if anyone has any screen captures of the ep/eps?

Just curiously want to refresh my memory, lol.

Thanks,

Frankie

Frankie I can remember a good deal about this particular scene & then I always have my tapes anyway.

The fire @ the mansion occured around the start of the seventh season. Melissa came to have Falcon Crest owing to a deed which Chase left her in a codicil.

Upon Richard & Maggie getting married two codicils were to be opened. Chase knew that Maggie was beginning to have eyes for Richard and since there was no love lost between the then brothers, Chase would have died before any land of his would go to Richard. Thats indeed what happened when Chase drowned in the murky waters.

Therefore the 1st codicil was for Angela, she regained all the land that Chase possessed, regarding the winery & fields. Richard was not a happy bunny hence he became involved in the shadowy cartel called the Thirteen, to stop Angela in her tracks.

However Angela overall reign was soon to be relinquished. In a turn of events the other codicil was for Melissa. She went to a cave in Hobart where the codicil lay. It transpired that the codicil was a deed. It stated that the Agrettis won Falcon Crest from the Giobertis, during a game of poker. Melissa got the deed proved legal.

Consequently the Channings were thrown out on their ears. Melissa gloried in having Falcon Crest for a while. Nonetheless she made an enemy not only of Angela, even more so than before but also Lance & her uncle Frank.

She was disowned. Gradually she was letting Falcon Crest run down & couldn't cope with it on her own. One evening as she lay in bed, she torched the room with gasoline. Fire soon ripped through the mansion. Lance & Pilar were driving by & noticed the mansion a blaze.

They went up, informed Angela, Frank, Chao Li & Caesar. Lance went to rescue Melissa. However it was to no avail she later died from inhalation of all the fumes & smoke. It was a very emotional scene with Lance holding her in the hospital bed as Frank watched on helplessly. The heart monitor went she couldn't be brought round.

So the mansion was in ruins as Angela walked through it, stating to Richard "There will be another Falcon Crest, bigger & better".

The police later found a FC brouch of Angela's in the ashes. Melissa had stolen it from Lance's car, he had to get it repaired for Angela. Lance was soon implicated as being the cause of the fire owing to this. However it all worked out for the best.

Angela got Falcon Crest back from the executor of Melissa's estate, her cousin Nick. This was achieved through it materialising that the Agrettis had cheated in the poker match and so the deed was void that Melissa had in the first place.

Hope this makes it somewhat clearer for u Frankie!

Did Melissa commit suicide or was she accidently trapped in the fire that she herself created?

It certainly appeared as if it was suicide. Melissa was suffering from depression and managing such an extensive wine business was becoming difficult. However Jock Og will be able to confirm this.

Jane Wyman as Angela in the very last Falcon Crest (May 1990):

"People come and go but the land endures!"

To all extent and purposes it was suicide. In the above reply I stated that the fire occurred at the start of the 7th season, it was actually the eighth season. However as stipulated Melissa did get lock, stock & barrel in season 7.

Angela and Greg Reardon are in the Falcon Crest study. Angela has a plan up her sleeve, (a scene from season 4, 1984-85):

Angela: “Seems quite obvious that you find Melissa quite attractive.”

Greg: “Attractive enough, why?”

Angela: “Perhaps it’s time to get to know her better. To know, her every move.”

Greg: “Perhaps I will. Perhaps I’ll check out a number of them.”

and there was even a fire, when Anna Rossini tried to kill Angie-babe...
