View Full Version : Mac's hair or wig!!
Did Kevin Dobson (Mack) wear a wig or hairpiece in Knots? I have recently watched some 1970s re-runs of Kojak, in which he co-starred and he had very little hair on top.

Yes, it's not what Mother Nature gave him, but it was a very good simulation. :-) I read a few articles talking about who has the worst or best hairpieces ("Toupee or Not Toupee? That is the Question!") and KD was on the "Best" list all the time. I think it has to do with not going overboard; it doesn't look like a ferret has parked itself on his forehead.

Michael: "What are you doing? Why are you out of bed?"
Karen: "I couldn't stand one more day of soap operas."

In my opinion Mac wore a hairpiece when he joined the show. However at some point in a later season to the present, he looks like he got hair transplants.

I never knew until recently he had a toupee - but it was always in the back of my mind there was something "funny" about his hair.

Pamela I actually think that rug on his head was so awful and obvious LOL. It actually didn't look that bad when he first came on, but like somebody said he might have gotten a transplant in the later years and it was really bad. That rug was so bad it made me miss Sid.

I was shocked when I learned (on here) a while back that Mack had a fake hair thing going on. I think it was a really good one if so many people didn't know or weren't sure.

But don't tell me now that Doug Savant was wearing the same piece when he played young Mack in the flashbacks, lol!

No, it really could not have been that awful because I have told so many people who are long-term Knots Landing watchings and they never had a clue! People are shocked when I tell them, so whatever he did, it worked because I don't think most people ever knew. not that it's bad or anything, in fact, the younger pictures of him being a bit bald, he was still really cute- I don't think not wearing it would make him less attractive- Mack was more "sexy" because of the way he acted, not as much the way he looked. I don't think the toupee would have mattered much, it's a shame men have this problem and feel unattractive when they lose their hair.

Right on, eciton!! I've said before that I loved how Mack and Greg were sexy and attractive, "ladies men," but it wasn't about overt good looks.

No, it was not obvious if you didn't know but you only had to compare him with what he looked like in Kojak to see that something was going on up there. :D
