Yes, he played a supporting role in several episodes of the second and third seasons. Barry Jenner played him.

Their initial interactions involved his coming to get the kids for weekends. Abby made him out to be a lousy husband; Karen knew better, and was a sort of ally within the cul-de-sac. He got fed up with Abby screwing with his visitation times, and screwing around with Richard Avery, so he started coming home later with the kids to make her get nervous. One day he threatened to run away with them...and at the end of the second season (when Sid went over the cliff) he did just that. He left her an audio tape to tell her they had left.

Jeff had an attack of conscience and brought the kids to see their mother. She pretended to have realized she still loved him and wanted a total reconcilation. He bought the story, since part of him still loved Abby (poor sap). They agreed to meet at the Court House to get remarried, but when he showed up she had the cops arrest him for stealing the kids! The charges were dropped in exchange for him signing a paper agreeing never to show his face in Knots Landing again.

An early visitation of Evil Abby, played in a much more subdued way since it didn't deal with corporate back-stabbing. DM played it with relish, and it promised MUCH more to come.
