Gary Ewing's teeth

I was always under the impression that to make it big in American soaps you had to have perfect teeth, more than anything else. Yet Ted Shackleford has the most dreadful teeth you have EVER seen on TV. Has anyone else noticed this? Has he had them capped since? I love Ted, but his teeth are shocking!!!
