View Full Version : The last temptation of Mack
How many more times can Mack be tempted to cheat on his fantastically beautiful wife Karen? We've had Jill Bennett, Anne Matheson, Paula the Park Ranger.... And let's not forget that old tart in his apartment block he was hanging around with when he couldn't commit to Karen (when they first started dating). How dull! He's not even sexy. Why do these women want to seduce him so badly?

Maybe these women just wanted to fix that hair-do of his, I know it drives me nuts. There is something nice about him though and he is quite funny. http://www.soapchat.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

As you will probably notice later on, the producers bought a clue and stopped doing "temptation" stories for Mack, mostly because the hard-core fans like us would have NONE of that. No way were they going to even HINT that Mack and Karen might split up. After the Paula Vertosick "non-event" it was finally figured out that the best way to make Mack and Karen go through rough patches (translation: keep them from getting dull) was to create conflicts from within their marriage and not so many outside influences interfering. This is why he seemed to go through about half-a-dozen mid-life crises. They seemed unwilling to make KAREN the focus of any discord (God forbid any man should try to get Pollyanna into the sack) so it was Mack's idiosyncracies that were made into faults (his pursuit of the truth about Mary Robeson, for instance, caused Karen to leave him temporarily).
I guess we should credit the producers for not breaking them up, but I didn't like the way they ran out of ways to make them have problems and it always seem to be Mack's fault.
