i.e = the opening titles and closing titles
I'm not sure if Channel 5 do this but the BBC and ITV have rules that opening and closing titles must be a maximum of 30 seconds. So I was wondering if Channel 5 do this will cut certain sections.
I know the new Dallas has a 'Previously On' at the beginning of each episode, obviously apart from episode one.

I hadn't heard that before. What a strange rule. I would have thought the length of the theme shouldn't matter as much as the length of the episode itself.
When Dallas originally aired, the BBC usually cut the teasers from the beginning. It was probably for time, but the trailers always seemed a little pointless anyway.

Its been a rule for the BBC since 2007. ITV have had there generic closing titles since late 2000. and most of C5 closing's are 30 seconds.
I'm just saying because - They cut certain scenes from Home and Away to make it more light hearted.
and knowing channel 5 it will probably get a pre watershed slot concidering Big Brother will take the 10pm slot or 9pm slot.

I've noticed this before, especially on BBC.

Curiouser and curiouser.
I wonder if there is now some guidance in place from OFCOM, or some similar body to ensure we get more "new" stuff.
I miss the days of having a minute and a half of opening titles, then another twenty seconds of post theme credits. And another minute or so of closing titles. :-/

Won't BB be finished in September? It will be awful if they edited out the language as in this case it actually gives a certain edge to it.

Celebrity BB will follow the normal BB, so I'm assuming it may run like last year into Halloween.
It usually has the 10pm slot so Dallas could get the 9pm slot.

It was necessary. Only a minute-and-a-half? Sounds short.

Didn't Celebrity Big Brother air at the beginning of the year?! The regular version is supposed to premiere in a few days. How many Big Brothers does Channel 5 air per year anyway? That's ridiculous.

The Non Celeb Big Brother - runs for 13 weeks - so it will be finished by the 4th September - meaning Dallas could aire the following week
The Celeb Big Brother - Dosn't that normally run at the beginning of the year - From January.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In regards to what Mel O'Drama said - I just hope they have a dramatic 'Previously On Dallas' segmant
The Celeb Big Brother - Dosn't that normally run at the beginning of the year - From January.
On C4 it did but C5 are hosting two CBB shows, one in January and one after the summer show.

This year there will be three shows.

Do we really need 3 BB's in ONE YEAR? Isn't that the point of the word season. To actually air 1 - 2 editions of a certain program a year. Imagine if The X Factor was 2 - 3 times a year. I for one despise reality programming with very few exceptions. The very idea of having 3 BB's a year makes me sick.

Who mentioned anything about seasons?
To actually air 1 - 2 editions of a certain program a year.
Channel Five doesn't really get many viewers, however since they took on BB last year they have had much success over the ratings during the 10pm slot and if they continue to bring in the viewers then as a business it makes sense.
Will it continue? I guess time will tell.

Well thankfully (in your case) there are so many other channels to watch other programmes.
As for the X Factor, well that's a totally different show.

Oh I love Celebrity BB , i don't watch the normal one, couldn't even consider it, but the 'celebrity' versiion is unmissable. Who wouldn't want to see the Byker Grove geordie woman from that crap daytime show unravel before our eyes and strip off in a jacuzzi? It's always too funy for words.... that gay guy from Pineapple dance studios telling Romeo from So Solid that he was straight and Romeo seemingly believing him was gloriously funny on every level. I don't think there has ever been a boring CBB. I'm delighted there's an extra one this year.
Having said that, I do hope they will have a better mix of ages, it's always more interesting when its not populated by only 20 year olds. The two oldest housemates from the last CBB gave us the most entertainment so hopefully they will keep mixing it up.
It's very sad to see the opening titles reduced to 10 second placeholders, thankfully HBO & Sky Atlantic are keeping it alive . This dumbing down of tv, apparently we can't sit through opening titles unless they are 5 seconds just to tell us what we are already watching. And using closing titles as a way of advertising what's coming next is beyond annoying. That's why I rarely watch dramas on tv, I love the dvd experience.
C5 shows the csi crap doesn't it... so i guess DALLAS will have similair length titles as those shows.

I'm worried that due to Channel 5 having 'ads' that pieces of the drama might be lost - lines cut short etc.

They do that sort of thing on ITV4. They slice out a few minutes to get more ads in. Dennis Alaba Peters was in every episode of Department S as Sir Curtis Seretse. When the episodes appeared on ITV4, sometimes he didn't.

I've seen channels that go for an ad-break and then resume and you usually have lost 30 seconds-1 minute of screen action.

I'm concerned about the ads on Channel 5 stopping the flow. We never had to worry when it was BBC.
