I hope this is not true, but it seems that "Dallas" will eventually be shot in L.A.:

TELLY bosses have decided not to film the new series of Dallas at the iconic Southfork ranch in Texas.

Instead producers are scouting for new locations in Los Angeles.

The news has not only angered fans but has left leading man Larry Hagman fuming.

The actor, 79, who is reprising his role as oil baron JR Ewing, stormed: “I can’t believe this is even up for discussion. I’d be less than thrilled if it was not shot there. I mean, come on people – it’s called Dallas for a reason.”

The show, which was launched in April 1978, used to be shot at the Southfork ranch in Parker, Texas.

It became a major tourist attraction and even now opens its doors to fans.

But bosses at TNT, which is making a new series of Dallas featuring the grown-up children of JR and Bobby Ewing, have decided not to use the ranch.

An insider revealed: “Dallas is going to be filmed in LA, all on a closed set.

“Shows like Dexter and Mad Men, which are set in Miami and New York, are filmed in LA.

“Bosses believe choosing a studio in California will save on production costs.”

Joining Hagman in the new series are old favourites Linda Gray, 70, as JR’s wife Sue Ellen and Patrick Duffy, 62, who will return as JR’s brother Bobby.

The show will air in the US next year on CBS Drama.

UK channels are also bidding to screen it.

I honestly must say that the fake Miami in Dexter has fooled me completely. Maybe the fake Dallas will be great and atmospheric too. 50% scenes in each place would be fair.

Is this for real?! I thought Dallas was a done deal, this can't be right. Not that I would mind as long as the sets were based on the real ranch, I mean more than half of the original show was done like that anyway. But this would be a surprise when I thought it had been confirmed awhile back that the real city was a lock.

It's just sloppy journalism from the Daily Star. The show is being filmed in Dallas.

Yeah, this smells like bull to me! In the interview with Linda Gray just posted, it said she's up and moving to Dallas for the filming (whereas the original was filmed in L.A.). I think, if the season was longer than 10 episodes, they may film some stuff in Dallas and the rest on sets on a soundstage in L.A. but while it remains 10 eps, I don't see why the whole thing can't be filmed in Dallas. Plus so much of a big deal was made about it being filmed there. It would be strange to go back on that now.

Early on I think they were considering filming elsewhere but eventually did decide on Dallas. Months ago there was an interview where Larry was saying those very words. I heard he actually went to Dallas & used some of his contacts to help get a good deal for them to shoot in Dallas. You know that old saying: "If you want something done right, do it yourself."
