As a huge fan of the former "Dallas" you are in for a challenge! The Dallas of 2011 is far different than the Dallas of 1980s. Listed below are a few suggestions:

The family would NEVER all live in the same house today. There are homes larger than Southfork throughout the US with only 2 people living in them! Possibly they have their own homes on the property.

JR and Sue Ellen HAVE to be divorced. The fact that a couple would divorce and remarry twice to the same person is a littel far fetched.

Rumor has it John Ross and Christopher will fight over a cook's daughter? Come on now, that is like a direct copy of the movie "Sabrina". It worked in 1950, not today! Maybe a former Miss USA, not a cook's daughter!

Think high tech. I dont even know if there are still independant oil men! Maybe the company now is into green or wind energy.

Just my thoughts...

it's writers, not writters.

Actually I think it's realistic to have them fight over a cooks daughter, a Miss USA is too much a copycat of JR and Sue Ellen!
I can see Christopher head over heels with her because she's different from the ruthless Ewing's (because she's not rich!) but John Ross is probably a mini JR and sees her as just another woman in his long line of women (6)
JMO!

My message to the writers would be to remember to temper respect towards what was along with a need to push things forward into new and exciting. It is definitely a fine line to walk, coming up with something innovative that we haven't seen while also making sure that the characters and show are true to themselves, so to some extent I really don't envy what they have to do. Also, and I don't have to tell them or fellow writers this, they'll know when to look to what others say and when to just write it themselves-part of it comes from them and they have to be original in some way. That's where it can sometimes get tricky for those of us fans who the writing isn't in line with-we just have to be as optimistic as we can I think that it will all come together. Cynthia probably has the biggest burden as the head person-I really hope she is the right person for the job.

I know the all living in the same house is kinda weird in real life but i do know a few families that are like that they arent rich but could afford their own places but choose not to
anyways i hope they are all still at southfork I just dont think it will be as good for conflicts and drama if they arent living together.
I know some things will be different in the new Dallas but I hope we do see some of the old format like
All the family at southfork and atleast a pool fight. :)
