Any suggestions on the casting of John Ross? Please don't suggest Omri. Nice guy and all but not John Ross material for 2010.

I suggest Sam Trammell

Billy Wilder, the young man who plays Billy on Y&R.

I don't care. Someone hot who can act. And Omri's pretty hot himself. I got to touch him last year. He's yummy. :D lol

Well not Omri, as he has stated, he's out of the business and is just a regular joe now.

So, let the casting begin....

Here is my choice: the actor from the 24 show who played the daughter´s boyfriend on Season 3: His name, James Badge Dale, extrangely attractive and as tall as JR (almost). And he can certainly act. He was seen in Martin Scorsese´s The Departed.

I have no idea who he is, but he certainly has the right look for a modern day John Ross in my opinion.

Oh PTS I like your suggestion. My one perhaps would be a good Christopher.

Hmm, it's hard to find someone who can act. It's a shame Omri doesn't act anymore, what is he up to now?

Why isn't Omri 2010 John Ross material?

You know, Omri didn't completely rule out the idea of acting again if I remember correctly. Someone asked him at Fansource if he'd ever go back to TV if it was brought up again, and he said he'd consider it, but he was really into moonlighting as sort of a garage-band musician these days.

its hard for me to see someone other than Omri
Ill have to think about it

Omri did in fact say that he'd consider returning through a reunion, but when the subject of a new series came up, he said probably not, since he's really on to other things outside the world of acting.

I think Chad Michael Murray would make a better Christopher than John Ross.

I think they will just have to find a really good unknown, there is no one I can think of in the business right now who would be right for it. If they can they should find a Texan, that was part of why Larry was so perfect. Omri was great as young John Ross but if he is to be the lead then I think they need someone new, he did not have the qualities of Hagman to carry a show, plus he seems to be out of the biz anyway.

That's disappointing (that he's out of the business). For all intents and purposes, I would not watch the new show if they did not cast Omri Katz and Joshua Harris as John Ross III and Christopher. They could act as kids, and it would kill all the fun if they did not reprise their roles - even if they did grow up ugly and untalented.

Hopefully whoever they pick can act. A person can have all the looks in the world but if they can't act, why bother!

Ok, good acting ability is important, but I also think it should be someone with unique facial features. A face that has character. A face that could fly the new flag for Dallas Just Like Larry Hagman did. He was the face of Dallas.

I've had a closer view of Sam Trammell and I think you may have the right kind of idea here Pamela with facial feature.
He has those deep set eyes and in fact he looks very similar to the actor Joseph Fiennes, who I suggested a while ago for the movie idea.
Not sure they would want him, with him being english though.

Why would Sam Trammell want to take a gamble on the Dallas update when he's already on a successful and critically-acclaimed show called True Blood? I'm not saying he would not be a good choice, just a very unlikely one. People playing this casting game always forget the number one rule when trying to cast a TV show: actors that are regulars on currently successful shows are off-limits, as the vast majority of them are unlikely to make the move from a successful show to take a gamble on a new one, unless it's a spin-off featuring their character as the show's star.

Good point.
Primarily, they would be looking for actors/actresses who are available.

Of course age comes into it, but there are the 3 main Elements. Acting Ability, Character & looks.

I'm not to familiar with actors mentioned, but are people suggesting these guys on all 3 qualities.

Or saying - "His character would suit the role."

Or - "This actor should play him, because I like him and he would be my eyecandy for the show."

Or - "This actor should play him, because I like him and plus he's perfect for the role."

Or - "Someone who looks like this actor should play the role, because this is what I imagine John Ross to look like.

Here are some of my suggestions for casting John Ross, many of them from WB shows and a number of ex-Supermen among them. These would be good for John Ross and/or all the other male roles for the pilot and down the road:

Tom Welling
Justin Hartley
Aaron Ashmore
Michael Rosenbaum
Jensen Ackles
Eric Johnson
Dean Cain
Michael Landes
Ian Somerhaulder
Brandon Routh
John Haymes Newton
Jason Marsden
Dan Gauthier
Trevor St. John

and I have to say, Omri Katz still looks good, if he was acting still I might consider him. At the same time, while he does a good job acting, in JR Returns I got the feeling he was not really lead material to be the next JR in the Hagman style. Also, I really liked Chris Demetral from the same reunion film as Christopher and felt he could have been good in that type of lead role, but again I understand he is no longer in the business, so that is that.

I hope that the casting news for the new roles comes soon. I have been waiting for months for some new solid news to get non-Dallas fans excited, and this could potentially be it if they get someone new, young, and hot. That will be a major role in making this show a hit.
