People who have call waiting....

Does my flamin head in. If someone rings me or I ring someone else, I don't appreciate them saying 'Oh hang on a wee second while I take this other call...' You can fek off and ring me back!!!!

I also hate people who when you're in the midst of a deep discussion, suddenly go 'Oh hang on a sec I'm just going to open the window/make a coffee/leave the room for a cigarette'

I suppose you preferred the world before when potentially important calls were missed because people were gabbing away with their friends?

I don't mind call waiting in a business setting, but it annoys me to no end when I call a friend or family member long distance and they put me on hold while they check to see who's calling. It's rude and I generally don't go out of my way to phone them often if they do this to me.

What I find rude is when you're telling a story over the phone, and you're like," So, what do you think I should do" and the person replies, "Oh,..sorry..what were you saying? I was checking my e-mails" (or something rude like that) ...I'm like, "forget it!"

Yeah, now that we're in an age of digital readouts (you can see the name of the person calling) I never use call waiting anymore. If I know I HAVE to take the other call, I'll just tell the first person, "sorry, gotta go, the doctor's calling" and end that call. If the second person calling is someone I know I can call right back, I let them leave a message. I used to like call waiting, but it's an unnecessary rudeness now.

I am strickly talking about call waiting on a cell phone (where you can see who is calling and screen it), but if one of my kids is calling I will take the call no matter what. Most people understand this when I ask them to wait while I take a call from my child. If it is anyone else buzzing in.. I do not flip over and take it because I know who it is and can call them right back when I am finished with the first call.
