Okay, it ALWAYS happens to me while I'm at the mall...I'll be walking behind some folks, and they'll just randomly stop DEAD right in front me ...TWICE I have walked into said person! (and I'm not even following that closely) ..

Don't be a dumba$$ and stop!! There could be people behind you! ..would you just stop your car on the highway?

OMG I hate this! Its so annoying. What's worse is my own mother does this all the time.

I used to have this friend who used to walk into me and push me sideways all the time. It was so annoying I had to tell her to stop it even though I felt like I was being mean. I like my space lol

Ever heard of the term move it or lose it? Hey, if they just dead stop they are asking for a run over. What about those who cut you off? They can't complain about a hit and run. Once they get slammed by a few hefty duty booties or fall over maybe they'll get the message.

I think it may be a cultural thing too....I have noticed it happens more often with people of asian descent.

I get annoyed with people who just stop dead in front of me. I get even more annoyed when people try walking through you instead of around you. Another case of WATCH where you are going!

So, I'm not the only one who has realized it too..because, without sounding mean, 90% of the time it is that culture.

i really hope it doesn't sound 'racialist'.. lol
it's just an observation i've made that always bamboozled me.

actually.. i don't mean to be sexist too (geez i'm going well in this thread)..but i've also noticed it's mostly women who do it.. or is that just me?

Although it can happen at any time of the year, I find it particularly bad at Christmas time when people are out shopping. When you expect people to try to move on swiftly, some just wander about or stop, in a trance.

Certain females in supermarkets really should be fitted with headgear with mirrors
- cycle helmets & 2 wing mirrors, to fascilitate the realisation that,
"there is life behind you bitch, be aware of yo' surroundings, bitch!" ...

Oh dear one went all Samuel L Jackson there, muthafu... :)

I agree

to be honest I wish pavements were like motorways and had 3 lanes

Slow and/or indecisive in the first lane - or older people, buggies, pushchairs, prams, ladies with wheeled shopper bags

normal speed in the middle

and fast walkers and overtaking on the outside

In town I do tend to walk on the roads at times - i have a very fast walking pace and stride! Found out I couldnt do that or jay walk in NY tho lol

Elderly ladies with shopping trolleys in Asda, do this!!
STOP dead, in the middle of the aisle....and chat.

I do say a polite "excuse me girls" however, because they are pensioners.

Under my breath, I have a little growl. lol

OMG! I think this almost everyday. We live half a block off Bourbon Street in the French Quarter and people do this all the freaking time.

I do it all the time.

My motive is to piss people off.

Before online banking was the fashion the banks would be crowded on a saturday..

And as a teller opened everyone would take a step like robots.

I would sometimes just stand still and let the line walk into me..

that is how I would get my kicks!!

That and throwing snowballs at old ladies!!

This is quite annoying...for me it is usually old people at the grocery store. They go right down the center of the aisle and stop dead to check their list, look for coupons, chat with someone, etc. Never the courtesy or common sense to move their carts to the side or consider there may be others trying to get around.

Like Joan I try to be respectful because they are elderly and say "excuse me, can I get past you? thanks" but I just want to scream!!!

I have had this problem a million times too. Also when you are trying to move past someone in a restaurant who has their chair out in the middle of the isle, so no-one can get past. I say 'excuse me', they continue chatting, once I agaian I say it, the chatting continues, I say it on last time and if they don't move to let me by - I move them! Then, they have the nerve to say to ME 'Did you never hear of excuse me'? I'm then like 'maybe if you listened more?'. Often happens during Christmas and when everywhere is busy.

This happens all the time alot of times it is people looking at their cell phones or talking or texting.. Your walking and they stop dead and you bump into them and they give you the look.. It is so annoying to say the least. I also hate people who run ahead of you to get on a elevator or escalator and stop dead...Some people have no manners..
