Not a big thing, but I hate when you try to write l o l as one word, you get this: lol

Can we keep the smiley around as :lol or something? I personally hate the way just the letters l o l look on forums, it's really an IM thing.

Lucy Ewing did make one positive contribution in her time by fixing that. It must've gone back after site changes/updates.

Yes, let's change it if need be, but keep lol in some form!!! lol
This would go greatly in my Suggestion Box thread, I now realize :D:

What nastiness?
Is that a serious question? This forum has a political forum where virtually every thread for the past ~3 years has descended into pandemonium. Even the Help forum has tons of fights on it.

Oh theres a fine line between love and hate. Some of those people just need to get it on and let the passion out.

Then stop contributing to that nastiness, if you're so bothered by it. ;)

Just an FYI: telling people that their post is the "stupidest, most moronic statement I have ever heard" doesn't bring out the best in people. It's fine if people disagree with things that are said here, but telling people how moronic they are usually isn't a good way to get a civil debate off the ground.

About the l o l thing, I discovered it by accident when I wrote the word lollipop. See what I mean?!
Like Bacteriophage, I like the symbol, and find it quite handy to be able to insert it in quickly, but it's quite funny that I can't write a word with those three letters in it without getting the giggly face.

Well call me out of style then, but I still use it. The only time I use "lulz" is on this forum, and only because I'm not wanting to post this: lol.
Not only that, but it affects all words that have l-o-l in them. It's dumb.

And l.o.l doesn't? lol Lulz was invented to create an actual, pronounceable word version of l.o.l

Its easy enough to pronounce l.o.l...its just like the first part of l.ollipop but without the ipop bit. Lulz is stupid.
And l.o.l doesn't? lol Lulz was invented to create an actual, pronounceable word version of l.o.l
how do you know that?

Because it's... fact?
That's right, Garrison. Keep telling yourself that...
Umm, ok? Nothing in my post was a denial of anything... more young people say "lulz" than "l.ol". Internet slang, amazingly, has the power to evolve! l.ol was originally used to mean "lots of love"... it's meaning changed. Lulz makes no less sense as a term than three letters representing laughter.
