I am suffering from this right now. It is such an annoying disease. I have the lesions four days now and I REALLY want to scratch them off now. It's driving me nuts! I was having trouble sleeping at night for the last few nights, but that has stopped now. It's just they are ALL OVER ME! I had to get my hair cut because they are on my head too. That was a bit of a relief because my head is cooler now. But the lesions are starting to come up on my hands and feet now, but apprently they should go away now. So far, I have been using Calomine Lotion and even tried out Bread Soda Paste, but that wasn't too great. Has anyone here had them and how long after they first appeared did it take for them to fully disappear?

Calamine lotion was the only thing that helped me.

It's going around right now, my son has it. When the spots start to scab over, you are no longer infectious, usually after about 5 days but could take another week or so to disappear but if you scratch alot then possibly longer.

Yeah, I heard it's going around at the moment too. They're not too bad now, some of the scabs are starting to fall off. I'm currently off sick from work now and I am kinda bored too. I look mental. I hope your Son feels better soon! What stage is he at in it?

I was seven when I had it and all I remember is being off school for a week and bathing in salted water. Not sure why that helped but I guess it did.
I got chickenpox in my senior year of highschool..
3 weeks of general malaise and terrible itching... FANTASTIC.
I don't wish it upon anyone.
hope you plague victims get better soon.. chickenpox are poxy.

Afton, are you sure it wasn't water with bread soda? I had bread soda 'paste' put on my head, it's hot at first, but eventually sort of soothing. Calomine lotion helps a lot too.
Salt water would be a nice way to heal the sores.
Oatmeal is a good way to soothe the itch. tip a box of porridge into your bath.
To stop chicken pox from itching, put some porridge oats inside a foot cut from a pair of tights.. tie in a knot and then fill a bath with water and bathe with porridge oats... this will stop the itching.

It's going around right now
That's something my Mother would say lol lol
When you say it's going around, does that mean there are times in the year when no one can catch it then ;)

YES! LOL! Oops. It was baking soda, not salt haha
Well, it was like 21 years ago. I'm amazed I even remember having them haha

Yes, that's a real Mother's saying. It seems 'it' is ALWAYS 'going around', LoL!
