Better moment of insanity:

AdrianCuldesac
12-07-2008, 04:40 PM
Frying Hermit Crabs
best bitchslap
Karen on Abby or Val on Abby?
pdlbean
12-07-2008, 08:59 PM

most tolerable "singing career"
Frank or Johnny?
AdrianCuldesac
12-08-2008, 03:07 AM
Frank (can't stand Johnny)
who would you have rather stayed around longer
Kenny or Ginger Ward?
pdlbean

AdrianCuldesac
12-10-2008, 12:17 AM

pdlbean
12-15-2008, 12:29 AM
tough one. Hmmm... after. But not necessarily because of her.
Most interesting long-lost son
Joshua Rush or Steve Brewer?
AdrianCuldesac
12-15-2008, 01:49 AM
ohhh, another tough one...have to go with Joshua simply because he came at what I feel was Knots' Golden Age
better break-down
Richard Avery or Anne Matheson
Mel O'Drama
12-15-2008, 11:36 AM
Richard Avery (by a landslide)
Bigger continuity error:
The Fairgate's disappearing dog or Abby's shrinking hair in the season 5 premiere?!
Daniel James Clarke
12-15-2008, 11:37 AM
Lilmae on Chip.
BEST SINGER...
C.J or GINGER?
AdrianCuldesac
12-15-2008, 09:11 PM
to answer Mel first...
Abby's hair
Daniel James Clark...
Ciji
better affair
Gary and Abby or Gary and Cathy
Daniel Avery
12-15-2008, 09:18 PM
Gary/Abby.
Better stalker: Pierce Lawton or Jeff Cameron?
AdrianCuldesac
12-15-2008, 09:36 PM
Jeff was more twisted so, Jeff
better comedic moment...
Val and Karen and her sweater OR Abby, Uncle Manny, and Karen and her black leather skirt
pdlbean
12-15-2008, 09:52 PM
Good one! I'd have to say the skirt, because it was so out of character!
Meg or the Twins?
AdrianCuldesac
12-15-2008, 10:21 PM
the Twins
Mother of the Year Award goes to...
Karen for chasing after Diana when she took off with Chip OR Val for never doubting her babies were alive
Mel O'Drama
12-16-2008, 09:21 AM
Val. :peace:
Nastiest death:
Chip Roberts or Peter Hollister
AdrianCuldesac
12-16-2008, 09:31 PM
Peter
worse story...
Gary and Tidal Energy OR Anne and Benny Appleman
Daniel Avery
12-16-2008, 10:45 PM
re: the nastiest death--
though their actual deaths were rather similar (unexpectedly falling on sharp object), it was what happened to Peter's body AFTER the receipt spindle that put him over the top. Or under the cement. Or whatever you call it.
Anyway.....
Gary and Tidal Energy, but it is a close one
Most Wasted Potential: Patricia Williams or Ginger Ward
AdrianCuldesac
12-16-2008, 10:53 PM
Patricia because her story was actually good there for awhile (I do like Ginger, however)
lousier father...
Greg or Richard
pdlbean
12-16-2008, 11:09 PM
hmmm. Toughie. Richard because he left his kids, but not because it was the best thing for them.
who has the best laugh?
Gary or Greg?
AdrianCuldesac
12-16-2008, 11:33 PM
Gary (and you know why, ;))
best yeller...
Mack or Greg
pdlbean
12-17-2008, 01:27 AM
Mack of course! It's his signature! My mom and I joke about doing the "Mack growl"
best red herring
Dianne for the stalking story or Olivia and Abby for Peter Hollister?
AdrianCuldesac
12-17-2008, 11:03 AM
Dianne (Robin Strasser was so much fun, and NO I don't watch OLTL)
more touching scene...
Val breaking down remembering when Lucy was taken away OR Frank trying to go back to the thrift store looiking for Pat's brush set
Mister Seagull
12-17-2008, 11:31 AM
Val and Lucy
Best living room decor...Karen or Val?
pdlbean
12-17-2008, 06:46 PM
Karen, I always liked her house best.
Worst husband
Joshua Rush or Danny Waleska?
AdrianCuldesac
12-17-2008, 08:56 PM
Danny Waleska (at least Joshua was easy on the eyes while he was terrorizing you)
Val with the accent or without
Daniel Avery
12-17-2008, 09:34 PM
Without, since the writers tended to fall back on the accent=stupid stereotype.
Worse employer: Paul Galveston or Mark St. Claire? :D
AdrianCuldesac
12-17-2008, 09:37 PM
Mark St. Claire (you wouldn't have to worry about winding up dead somewhere)
worst character...
Vanessa Hunt or Benny Appleman
pdlbean
12-17-2008, 11:31 PM
Vanessa. God, I hated her.
best reveal of an affair
When Val found Gary and Abby or when Abby found Laura and Greg?
AdrianCuldesac
12-18-2008, 12:31 AM
Val finding Gary (the show was never the same again)
worst character part 2
Vanessa Hunt or Johnny Roarke
pdlbean
12-18-2008, 05:37 PM
still Vanessa. She was the worst.
best father
Mack with Meg or Gary with the twins?
AdrianCuldesac
12-18-2008, 10:04 PM
Mack with Meg
Greg with Laura or Greg with Paige
pdlbean
12-18-2008, 10:07 PM
I really like both couples, but I'm going to have to go with Greg and Paige.
best investigation
Wolfbridge or Galveston Industries/Wesphall?
AdrianCuldesac
12-18-2008, 10:20 PM
Wolfbridge
best return of an ex...
Susan Philby or Anne Matheson
Daniel Avery
12-18-2008, 10:43 PM
Anne. Too bad we never got to see Anne eat Susan Philby for breakfast.
Worse "impostor mother": Mary Robeson or Sylvia Lean
pdlbean
12-18-2008, 10:47 PM
Mary Robeson. At least Sylvia wasn't taking advantage of a poor, defenseless little girl.
best kidnapping story
Karen or Val?
AdrianCuldesac
12-18-2008, 11:17 PM
VAL (because the payoff in the end was the best!!)
better Abby line...
"Go save a whale" or "Money's going to win everytime"
pdlbean
12-19-2008, 03:52 AM
"Go save a whale" I loved that moment.
most irritating ex-boyfriend
Teddy Becker or Charles Scott?
AdrianCuldesac
12-19-2008, 08:59 PM
Charles Scott (could not see what Abby saw in him)
more vampish blonde...
Abby or Paige
pdlbean
12-21-2008, 10:11 PM
but of course Abby!
best rejection
when Mack rejected Anne or when Mack rejected Paula
Daniel Avery
12-22-2008, 12:28 AM
Anne, because I actually liked Paula.
"Best" (?) Abusive Ex: Danny Waleska, or Ray Geary?
pdlbean
12-22-2008, 12:50 AM
Ray, because I didn't feel like throwing up on him every time I saw him. :p
Michael's girlfriend you most wanted to punch in the face
Jody or Linda?
AdrianCuldesac
12-22-2008, 03:52 AM
Jody (I actually loved Linda, she was great)
who had their sh*t more together...
Mack or Greg
pdlbean
12-22-2008, 04:06 AM
Greg. When Mack got into a situation, his emotions took over.
most believable psycho
Jill or Joshua?
AdrianCuldesac
12-22-2008, 04:17 AM
Jill (something about Terri Austin's cool demeanor made me believe it when she finally snapped)
bigger bastard...
Chip or Danny
Daniel Avery
12-23-2008, 12:20 AM
Danny, though I actually could argue either side...
Less Consequential: Ben Gibson or Sid Fairgate
pdlbean
12-23-2008, 06:24 AM
tough one. I'll go with Ben. He just kind of showed up, left, and never mattered again. Sid affected the show through the whole run.
best "wrongly accused of murder" storyline
Gary accused of killing Ciji, or Gary accused of killing Jill?
Daniel Avery
12-23-2008, 11:42 PM
The Jill Bennett case, because it was more tightly focused. I tend to dislike the multiple-suspect murder mysteries where the entire cast gets shoe-horned into the suspect list. It was also a much more clever resolution.
Better exterior: Val's house or Karen's?
pdlbean
12-24-2008, 01:47 AM
Val's house was beautiful.
best "wrongly accused of murder storyline" part 2:
Mack accused of killing Mary Robeson or Abby accused of killing Peter Hollister?
Mel O'Drama
12-24-2008, 11:57 AM
Abby accused of Peter's murder.
If you were Val's "favourite" brother-in-law, would you rather be served:-
Tuna Fish or Iced Tea?
Daniel Avery
12-25-2008, 11:21 PM
Hmmm, tough one. I'll say Iced Tea, since we practically live off sweet tea in the South.
Nicer plans for Lotus Point: Wolfbridge's, or Gary's?
AdrianCuldesac
12-26-2008, 04:00 PM
Gary's, just because it was Gary's LOL
Knots Landing the MOVIE or Knots Landing the NEXT GENERATION
Daniel Avery
12-26-2008, 11:15 PM
Knots Landing/Next Generation, tentatively titled "Seaview Circle"
It would consist of an eight-episode summer run (written like a traditional miniseries) to introduce the main characters, with a pick-up as a mid-season replacement series later in the year. The best part is that if the show doesn't get picked up for additional episodes, the eight eps were written in such a way (beginning/middle/end story arcs) that it can be viewed as an eight-hour movie. Best of both worlds!
Not that I've thought much about it or anything. ;)
More sympathetic wacko: Sheila Fisher, or Wayne Wilson?
AdrianCuldesac
12-26-2008, 11:22 PM
Sheila Fisher (she just wanted children)
btw, good idea about a mini-series, they should do that for the 30th aniversary next year :D
better wife
Karen or Val
pdlbean
12-26-2008, 11:48 PM
Karen, she might have been naggy and nosy, but she kept Mack in check but was always beside him at the same time.
better husband
Mack or Ben?
AdrianCuldesac
12-27-2008, 12:15 AM
Mack (he never doubted his wife's fidelity, but then again, Karen never gave him reason to...)
better show host
Karen or Anne
pdlbean
12-27-2008, 12:24 AM
Karen, but I'm biased, I hate Anne's guts.
person whose problems you would rather have
Karen or Val?
AdrianCuldesac
12-27-2008, 12:31 AM
ohhh, this is a GOOD one...
I'd have to say Val's, just because I love hers and Gary's story the best
if you were a new character to the show, would you rather be based at...
the cul-de-sac or the Sumner Group offices
pdlbean
12-27-2008, 08:16 PM
the cul-de-sac, I'm not much for big business. :p
cutest "how we met" story
Gary and Amanda or Paige and Tom?
AdrianCuldesac
12-27-2008, 11:00 PM
Gary and Amanda (blush)
trapped in an elevator with Harold Dyer or Alex Barth?
Daniel Avery
12-27-2008, 11:41 PM
cutest "how we met" story
If I remember correctly, the Paige/Tom meeting was actually staged by Tom, so Gary/Amanda win by default, don't you think?
Anyway, I'd rather be trapped in an elevator with Alex, just so I could arch an eyebrow at him and say, "You moron! How on Earth did you think you could out-fox Claudia f-ing Whittaker???"
Most potentially interesting character despite only one brief appearance: Lucy Ewing or Linda's mother?
AdrianCuldesac
12-28-2008, 12:35 AM
as much as I would have loved to have seen Lucy on the show and meet her younger siblings, I would have to go with Mimi Kennedy as Linda's mother (that woman is one fantastic actress, and I loved her on 'Savannah')
better chest hair...
Kenny or Joshua
pdlbean
12-29-2008, 08:37 PM
I'm not one for chest hair, but I'll say Kenny, since he was easy on the eyes anyway. :p
best part of the Danny storyline
When Gary threatened Danny with a bat or When Danny got Gary drunk?
AdrianCuldesac
12-29-2008, 09:11 PM
when Danny got Gary drunk
whose concert would you rather go to...
Cosmic Steeple's or Sylvie's?
pdlbean
12-29-2008, 09:53 PM
Cosmic Steeple, those guys were funny. Plus, Sylvie just generally makes me angry.
Who would you rather spend the day with?
The Ewings or The Mackenzies?
AdrianCuldesac
12-29-2008, 10:28 PM
so unfair, that's like apples and oranges!! :D
have to go with the Ewings, and not just because of Gary!
would you rather intern at the Sumner Group or at Lotus Point?
Daniel Avery
12-29-2008, 11:02 PM
Hmm, inter-office backstabbing or up-front arsenic poisoning?
Well, at least an internship at LP would mean I could leave a better-tanned corpse.
Better car: Karen's huge station-wagon or her Lincoln Mark XII?
AdrianCuldesac
12-29-2008, 11:03 PM
station wagon, when I was a little kid, I was fascinated with them for some odd reason!
Laura's mullett or Val's?
pdlbean
12-30-2008, 02:08 AM
I could stomach Laura's.
best hostage situation
Ginger's baby shower or Meg's birthday party?
Daniel Avery
12-30-2008, 10:59 PM
I'll have to go with Meg's b-day party, mostly because Brain J was much more likeable than those whiney hostage-takers at Ginger's baby shower.
Most castrated husband: Jeff Cunningham or Ben Gibson?
AdrianCuldesac
12-30-2008, 11:11 PM
yeeeeesh, it's a toss up, but I would have to give the edge to Ben 'cuz at least Jeff was able to punk Abby when he took the kids...
better singer...
Ginger or Sylvie?
pdlbean
12-31-2008, 05:53 AM
Ginger. Sometimes I still go around belting out "You're the one I can't live withouuuuut!" :p
most comedic moment
Mack deflating the blow-up doll or Mack getting in the casket
AdrianCuldesac
12-31-2008, 11:01 AM
the blow-up doll...only on Knots!! LOL (Dallas was so serious, they never had moments like this, did they?)
better cryer...
Michele or Joan?
Daniel Avery
12-31-2008, 09:46 PM
Val's crying was more...naturalistic.
Michele Lee/Karen's entire face would crumple up and she'd look like someone was running her hand through a meat grinder. She'd let out these primal moans that made me have to turn away and say:
"For God's sake, Karen, it's just a greeting card!"
most un-Knots episode: Three Sisters or Silver Shadows?
pdlbean
12-31-2008, 10:18 PM
ha, believe or not I skipped both these episodes on my original run (I wanted to get to the good stuff fast) but I went back and watched them later. I defintely choose The Three Sisters, at least what Abby did in Silver Shadows was... Abby.
Saddest to see them go
Laura or Abby?
Mel O'Drama
01-01-2009, 09:29 AM
Laura (there was always a possibility of Abby returning. Laura was saying good-bye forever :sosad:)
Gladdest to see them go:
Jean Hackney or Johnny Rourke
AdrianCuldesac
01-01-2009, 04:50 PM
Oh, God...I HATED these two, but I would have to say Johnny (did he even get a proper send off? it seemed like he was just gone after awhile), at least Jean served a purpose
funnier Mack and Karen moment...
Karen doing the striptease number in his office OR Karen fishing and annoying him with her constant talking?
pdlbean
01-01-2009, 06:58 PM
you stole my idea! ha ha. It's a toss-up but I loved when she was fishing and irritating him. If you'll indulge me: Karen: Why are you yelling? Mack: Because I want it quiet! Karen: That's how you get it, by yelling?...*whispers* Is this quiet enough? Mack: YES!!! Classic.
most touching Gary and Val moment:
When they were sitting on the beach after Ben slept with Cathy ("we really made a mess out of lives") or when they decided to get back together ("We can't go back." "Then let's go forward.")
AdrianCuldesac
01-01-2009, 08:36 PM
LOL YES! I'm convinced Michele can do ANYTHING perfectly! (Joan never got a chance to prove she had a funny bone, did she?)
sitting on the beach, it was bittersweet because they were STILL apart yet you knew they belonged together
better casting...
Doug Savant as Young Mack or Joshua Devane as Young Greg?
Daniel Avery
01-01-2009, 09:34 PM
I'll go against conventional wisdom and say Doug Savant, if for no other reason than it got him noticed for the Melrose gig.
Danielle Brisebois or Stacy Galina?
AdrianCuldesac
01-01-2009, 09:42 PM
Stacy all the way, somehow I doubt Kate would have earned anyone's sympathy under Danielle's portrayal
Laura more interesting with Richard or Greg (not who made a better husband)?
pdlbean
01-02-2009, 03:15 AM
Richard, when she was with Greg it was just kind of... blah.
best Greg nickname
"Red" for Laura or "Blondie" for Abby?
Daniel Avery
01-03-2009, 12:01 AM
Red!
Worse choice for Cathy: Ray Geary or Joshua Rush?
AdrianCuldesac
01-03-2009, 12:08 AM
man, either one is a doozy, but I'll go with Ray (I don't think he ever wanted to kill his wife...)
most welcome BTTC cameo...
Ginger Ward or Diana Fairgate?
pdlbean
01-03-2009, 12:13 AM
Ginger! I wish she'd been more of a part of the story. I wanted to know what went sour between her and Kenny, and how Erin Molly turned out!
Nick with Anne or Nick with Claudia?
AdrianCuldesac
01-03-2009, 12:20 AM
Me too! In fact, if the reunion had been nothing but the Anniversary Party, I would have been satisfied. Maybe showing some of the backstories of where the various guests had been. Oh, well...
Nick with Anne!!
more cheesier tongue-in-cheek moment of BTTC...
Mack turning the tv off as we see the LORIMAR logo with the last few bars of the KNOTS theme playing OR
the movie studios security guard telling Val that that was not Stephanie Powers she had just seen but Michele Lee
pdlbean
01-03-2009, 01:27 AM
Val at the studio. When I saw that I became thoroughly confused as to what reality I was in. :p
character that was mentioned but never seen that you would most like to see:
Megan Mackenzie (Mack's sister) or Rosa Barth (Ruth Galveston's nurse)
AdrianCuldesac
01-03-2009, 02:56 AM
Megan (I'm curious as to how she would have gotten along with Karen)
more horrible death...
Linda or Jill?
pdlbean
01-03-2009, 03:55 AM
Linda, it's hard to sympathise with Jill because, you know, she killed herself.
BTTCDS storyline you could have done without:
Mack and Karen breaking up (again) or Kate having Gary's baby
AdrianCuldesac
01-03-2009, 04:04 AM
Mack and Karen (really could have done without the Val: did she kill him?)
would you have rather seen...
Lillimae or Cathy Geary...
on BTTC?
pdlbean
01-03-2009, 04:27 AM
(ah, yes I practically blocked that story out) I can never get enough of my Lilimae!
If there were a spin-off, which would be more interesting:
The history of the Sumner family or Where Paige went from BTTCDS
AdrianCuldesac
01-03-2009, 05:18 AM
hmmm, Greg and Paige were never high on my list of favorites, but I think it would have been interesting to see 'Young Claudia' so...
worse back from the dead story idea...
Ben or Laura?
pdlbean
01-03-2009, 07:47 PM
Laura, considering the fact that Ben didn't techincally "die" and it would be interesting to see the trouble seeing Gary and Val together again would create.
who would you rather see living in the cul-de-sac
Greg or Jill?
Daniel Avery
01-03-2009, 10:15 PM
Greg, actually. Remember that segment during his courtship with Laura where he stayed at her house to take care of the kids when she went out of town? I think it would have been a source of more humor to have a "billionaire shacked up in a suburban tract house with his lady-love and her kids". Sounds like a headline.
Speaking of which: Better Headline:
"Booze and Women Made My Life a Living Hell: Ewing Ex Tells All in New Book" (from Global Gossip) or "Evangelist Rush Tried to Murder Songbird Wife"
(complete with Lilimae scrambling to grab all copies off the shelves at the supermarket).
pdlbean
01-03-2009, 10:27 PM
the first one, I always found it to be catchy.
more realistic relationship:
Karen and Sid or Karen and Mack
AdrianCuldesac
01-03-2009, 11:40 PM
well considering how they met after Sid's death...I would say Sid and Karen, but I liked the arguments between Mack and Karen, so MACK AND KAREN
better Abby adversary...
Karen or Olivia?
pdlbean
01-04-2009, 09:35 PM
Olivia, it was cool to have even Abby's own daughter turn against her. (I'm not much of an Abby fan)
best Gary binge
season 1 or season 4?
AdrianCuldesac
01-04-2009, 09:43 PM
season 4, because it was PRICELESS to see Abby having to deal with it!
which prop did you miss more...
Karen's butcher block island OR Lillimae's autoharp?
Tatianna
01-04-2009, 10:27 PM
Karen's butcher block counter top because it made her kitchen so "homey".
Life in the cul-de-sac or around "The Sumner Group"?
AdrianCuldesac
01-04-2009, 10:53 PM
hey there, Tatianna!! so glad you decided to play :D
the cul-de-sac (while I enjoyed the office politics of The Sumner Group, it wasn't really Knots IMHO!)
character you wished they had killed off...
Johnny Rourke OR Vanessa Hunt?
pdlbean
01-04-2009, 11:02 PM
Vanessa! I would have paid money to see her kick the bucket, as morbid as that is.
most slaved to their emotions
Mack or Val?
AdrianCuldesac
01-04-2009, 11:15 PM
Val (she made more reckless decisions than Mack)
Brian Jacoby or Brian Austin Green?
Mel O'Drama
01-05-2009, 06:03 PM
Liked them both, but Brian Austin Green got more to do, so B.A.G. it is.
Who'd make the better Grandmother post BTTCDS -
Karen or Abby?
Daniel Avery
01-05-2009, 08:51 PM
Toughie! I'll go with Abby, if only because she'd give better presents.
Unless you called her grandma, of course; one mention of the g-word and it was off to the Fishers with yo' ass. :D
Most intriguing story that never happened: Gary/Pat, or Val/Frank?
AdrianCuldesac
01-05-2009, 08:58 PM
oooooohhh, I'd have to say Val/Frank (they had more in common and I could actually SEE them together)
good one, Daniel!!
should never have left the cul-de-sac...
Olivia or Lillimae?
Tatianna
01-05-2009, 10:40 PM
Olivia because she was annoying at times
Meg or Bobby and Betsy
Mel O'Drama
01-08-2009, 06:35 AM
Bobby and Betsy (the fantastic Season 6 wouldn't have happened without them).
Better Mama/Daughter bonding moment for Lilimae and Val
Baking in the kitchen in Season 1 (the fritters vs mousse) or Val playing hairdresser ("contains no lye")?
AdrianCuldesac
01-08-2009, 10:52 AM
hairdresser!!
I know this one has been asked before (I answered), but just curious to see anyone else's opinion...
Ciji OR Cathy Geary?
Mel O'Drama
01-08-2009, 12:30 PM
Oh, that's quite a toughie for me.
I thought Cathy had more to do, was very likeable and developed quite a lot during the time on the show.
But I preferred Ciji's songs, thought she was an edgier character and thought her storyline was a breakthrough for Knots.
So Ciji wins.
Better "in front of the camera" moment:
Val on "The Mike Douglas Show" with Zsa Zsa Gabor OR Gary's fit of the giggles while filming his campaign video?
Daniel Avery
01-09-2009, 02:42 AM
The campaign commercial (or attempt at one) was a riot. But then, that entire plotline was a mockery of state politics anyway.
More fun to sit next to at a dinner party: Laura Avery or Mack MacKenzie?
pdlbean
01-09-2009, 03:45 AM
who wouldn't want to get a few drinks into Mack and watch what happened? :p
most tolerable on an long road trip
Anne or Diana?
Mel O'Drama
01-09-2009, 10:38 AM
Ugh!!
I'd go with Anne because she's well travelled, and I imagine she'd have a bag full of accoutrement to make the journey more luxurious.
Coolest head:
Greg or Carlos
AdrianCuldesac
01-09-2009, 11:04 AM
Carlos (you'd have to be to work for Greg!)
better eyes...
Cathy or Abby?
pdlbean
01-10-2009, 06:12 AM
I've always loved the shade of Lisa Hartman's eyes. I wish my eyes were that blue.
best hair:
Gary or Mack?
AdrianCuldesac
01-10-2009, 06:20 AM
give that one to Mack (like curly hair)
better businessman...
Greg Sumner or JR Ewing?
Daniel Avery
01-11-2009, 12:18 AM
You'd be quite shocked if you ran your fingers through KD's hair, if you know what I mean. :)
I think JR Ewing is a better businessman, because I always got the impression that Sumner Group never really "grew"--that Greg simply inherited Galveston Industries and re-named it. I've never watched Dallas, but we always heard him pursuing deals to earn more money or to crush his opponents.
better place to live: the cul-de-sac or Melrose Place?
pdlbean
01-11-2009, 12:32 AM
ha, a perfect question for me as I am just getting into Melrose. That's a hard one! I'm only on season 2 of Melrose Place, but so far no one has been murdered in the apartment complex, so from what I've seen, I'll say Melorse Place.
best wedding:
Karen and Mack or Cathy and Joshua?
AdrianCuldesac
01-11-2009, 12:47 AM
Karen and Mack (I like the more subtle weddings compared to the typical, over-the-top soap weddings, don't get me started on Cathy's gown...)
and, yes, Daniel, I've seen Kojak, so I know what you mean! ;)
Dallas character you wished would have shown up on Knots...
Miss Ellie OR Jock Ewing?
Daniel Avery
01-12-2009, 09:31 PM
def. Miss Ellie! :)
On that same thread...
better prospective cast addition--Maggie Gioberti (FC) or Steven Carrington (DY)?
AdrianCuldesac
01-12-2009, 09:53 PM
ohhhhh, I love both, but because Knots never had a gay character (bi-sexual bimbos in the last few seasons don't count)...
Steven Carrington (I thought Jack Coleman was aesthetically more pleasing, but Al Corley had a better handle on the character and I could see him on the cul-de-sac more so than Coleman)
crossover with Flamingo Road or Falcon Crest?
pdlbean
01-14-2009, 11:33 PM
Can't say that I've ever seen either of them, but I'll say Flamingo Road, just for the confusion of having Galveston star on the show as someone else.
best Knots Montage:
"Surprise Me in the Middle of the Night" or "Always on Your Side"?
AdrianCuldesac
01-19-2009, 11:42 PM
I was hoping someone else would have answered by now, because, AGAIN, I don't recall either one!! :(
So, just by name, I'll go with "Surprise Me in the Middle of the Night" :p
better season 1 episode...
"The Lie" or "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?"
pdlbean
01-20-2009, 12:54 AM
gotta love "The Lie"! Plus, the first time we saw Lilimae all I really wanted to do was punch her in the face.
worse season 1 episode
"Land of the Free" or "Home is for Healing"?
AdrianCuldesac
01-20-2009, 08:05 AM
LOL pdlbean! poor Lilimae, I just love her to death!
"Land of the Free" hands down!!
better guest-star from season 1...
Priscilla Pointer OR Karen Allen?
pdlbean
01-20-2009, 05:54 PM
well, I did grow to love Lilimae when she returned in season 3.
Karen Allen, just because I can barely remember Mrs. Handleman. I know who she was, but I've forgotten her dialogue.
best season 14 storyline:
Val and Treadwell or Mary Robeson and Meg?
AdrianCuldesac
01-20-2009, 08:50 PM
would have to say Mary Robeson and Meg (hated the whole Treadwell storyline)
more gratuitious singing scene with Michele Lee...
"Put on a Happy Face" with Diana OR that Christmas song in her living room
Mel O'Drama
01-23-2009, 09:46 AM
Both pretty heinous, but I vote for the Christmas song.
Better "Is Mack going to cheat" moment...
'Meeting Anne' or 'Having The Key To Jill's Hotel Room'
pdlbean
01-24-2009, 09:56 PM
Jill's room key! One of my favorite storylines. Karen seemed to forget that roughly six years ealier she went to Diana's teacher's apartment for the exact same reasons Mack kept the key. (And Karen got closer to actually cheating than Mack did!)
best final moments of an episode:
Danny floating in the pool or Jeff in the control booth?
AdrianCuldesac
01-25-2009, 01:27 AM
Danny floating, because I didn't expect it at all
better work from a young actress...
Tonya Crowe or Kent Masters King
pdlbean
02-02-2009, 12:05 AM
Well, I guess it's about time someone answered!
Tonya Crowe. Loved her work when they thought Gary was dead.
The next question brought to you by my mother:
who would you rather drive around with:
Mack who drives like a bat outta hell or Al who can never seem to find a parking space?
AdrianCuldesac
02-02-2009, 12:21 AM
I'm always in a hurry, so Mack. Thanks for playing pdlbean's MOM!! :)
would you rather eat a meal prepared by Anne Matheson or Claudia Whitaker?
pdlbean
02-03-2009, 02:09 AM
oh geez. I guess it would depend on if I made either of them angry! :p
marriage that got off to the worst start:
Karen and Mack or Val and Ben?
AdrianCuldesac
02-03-2009, 03:06 AM
Val and Ben, because you knew Karen and Mack really loved each other, while Val was still in love with Gary
worse Knots "gang" representation...
the motorcycle gang from "Land of the Free" OR the kid gang that terrorizes Jason and Julie on the sidewalk?
Daniel Avery
02-03-2009, 10:30 PM
I think the gang trying to scare Jason and Julie win by a slight margin, only because they were straight out of some sheltered, naive scriptwriter's imagination. All that was missing was a re-enactment of the knife fight in West Side Story. The biker gang also gets big laughs, but they are more a product of poor acting than poor writing.
Preferred Ward: Ginger or Kenny?
AdrianCuldesac
02-04-2009, 10:54 AM
I really do like them both, and I was dissappointed that they left.
I'll have to go with Ginger, although James Houghton is a very handsome man...;)
Scrolling Titles from the early years OR the Sandy Dvore Painting Titles?
Daniel Avery
02-04-2009, 09:27 PM
No contest: the scrolling picture panels are as much a part of the Knots experience as sweater-pulling and home perms!
(an aside: I was horrified by that other opening when I first saw it. I started calling it the "baby-spit-up opening" after that line Laura tossed out in one of her final scenes. Most of us call it the "splattered paint" opening. I know they were trying to go for some sort of revamp that was more high-end, but it just came across as wrong for a show like Knots.)
Homewrecker Abby or Corporate raider Abby?
AdrianCuldesac
02-04-2009, 09:41 PM
homewrecker Abby, she was far better at it than the latter (again, loved EVERYTHING about early Knots)
Val before the twins OR after?
pdlbean
02-05-2009, 12:07 AM
before. She really was never 100% again after that Shula incident if you catch my drift. ;)
best surgery storyline:
Karen's bullet fragment or Val's would-be colostomy?
AdrianCuldesac
02-05-2009, 12:23 AM
KAREN!! Any hospital scenes with Karen were pure KNOTS GOLD IMHO!!
better mother Abby or Claudia?
Daniel Avery
02-05-2009, 12:26 AM
The story about Val's cancer is a prime example of how the show did benefit from the episodic format over a serialized format in the early days. The drama was more intense because they couldn't spread it out; everyone had to deal with it right then. "The Loudest Word" was a great episode.
That said, Karen's surgery did spawn one of the most clever episode titles ever: "#14 With a Bullet" was the fourteenth episode of that season.
Clever-er episode title: "Arsenic and Old Waste" or "Cementing a Relationship"?
Daniel Avery
02-05-2009, 12:31 AM
Oops, we posted at the same time....
:exit:
pdlbean
02-05-2009, 12:51 AM
oh, nice one! I've always loved "Cement the Relationship"
(and to answer yours, Adrian, that'd be Claudia!)
Time you felt worst for Greg:
Meg calling Mack "daddy" in front of him when Mary Frances died or when he dragged Laura to doctor after doctor trying to save her?
Mel O'Drama
02-05-2009, 06:09 AM
Taking Laura for second and third opinions. Broke my heart. :(
Better hairstylist -
Phil Harbert or Mark St Clair (who presumably gave Abby a fetching shaggy perm to pass the time in the back of his limo).
AdrianCuldesac
02-05-2009, 10:51 AM
hmmmm, tough one, but I'd have to say Phil Harbert (at least we know he did do it! ;))
lamer storyline...
Val teaching the waitress how to read OR Mack dealing with his midlife crisis in BTTC?
pdlbean
02-05-2009, 03:55 PM
hated them both, but I would have to go with Mack and his mid-life crisis. In BTTCDS he was either a jerk or I didn't know what the hell he was talking about. (what in the world is "deletia"? :p)
better drug addiction storyline:
Karen or Olivia?
AdrianCuldesac
02-05-2009, 09:15 PM
ohhhh, another toughie...have to go with my girl Olivia/Tonya!!
cuter "young love" interest...
Jason Lochner OR Harold Dyer?
pdlbean
02-05-2009, 09:28 PM
Jason! I want him, it's no fair! :p
better "Noises Everywhere" story:
Mack wanting a baby or Val trying to prove that she's as strong as anybody else?
Mel O'Drama
02-07-2009, 08:56 AM
Val trying to prove her strength (I'm really sorry PDL, but I found Mack being totally self-obsessed throughout Noises Everywhere more than a little annoying :( )
Better costume:
Ciji's red and gold "alien" number from "If Love Must Go" or Cathy's Wedding Dress.
Daniel Avery
02-07-2009, 10:02 PM
Cathy's dress--and it was indeed a "costume," not a dress.
More un-scary villain: Manny Vasquez, or Mr. Willis of Oakman Industries?
pdlbean
02-07-2009, 11:44 PM
Val trying to prove her strength (I'm really sorry PDL, but I found Mack being totally self-obsessed throughout Noises Everywhere more than a little annoying )
LOL, no offense here. I felt the same way.
Manny, I could never take that guy seriously.
Best work by an actress playing two different roles:
Lisa Hartman as Ciji/Cathy or Stacy Galina as Kate/Mary Frances?
Daniel Avery
02-08-2009, 07:03 PM
I just really like Stacy Galina.
Weirder cameo role: Dick Sargent or Mary Lou Retton?
AdrianCuldesac
02-09-2009, 02:46 AM
Mary Lou...anytime she shows up, no matter what the context...it's hilarious!! :)
more mundane conversation...
Val and Lilimae and how they each prepare pb&j OR Val and Karen and how they like their tp rolls?
pdlbean
02-09-2009, 05:19 AM
Val and Lilimae, I loved that scene about the tp. (hm, not sure if I should have admitted that. :p)
scariest bad guy:
Mark St Clair or Treadwell?
AdrianCuldesac
02-09-2009, 10:34 PM
Mark St Clair because of the Wolfbridge name, sounds so much more sinister than Treadwell...BOTH guys however looked as threatening as an English teacher...
prettiest neighbor...
Karen OR Abby?
pdlbean
02-10-2009, 01:18 AM
Gotta go with my girl Karen here. Abby spread it a bit too thick. :p
handsomest neighbor:
Gary or Mack?
AdrianCuldesac
02-10-2009, 11:00 AM
I'm not going to answer, we all know who my vote is for! ;) Anyone else?
Daniel Avery
02-11-2009, 01:20 AM
I'll choose Gary, but neither of them really did much for me.
Better looking non-couple: Pat/Gary, or Kate/Michael?
pdlbean
02-11-2009, 04:50 AM
Now Kate and Michael, that's a pairing I never thought of. But now that I think of it... I could see it.
Meg #2 (seasons 11&12) or Meg #3 (seasons 12-14)?
Daniel Avery
02-11-2009, 09:00 PM
Meg #3. She nailed that scene where Mack and Karen decided to tell her she was adopted (Meg couldn't have cared less).
Better Partners-in-crime: Jill/Peter, or Peter/Sylvia?
AdrianCuldesac
02-11-2009, 11:36 PM
Peter/Sylvia gotta love that Sylvia!!
Laura's meatloaf or Lilimae's mousse?
pdlbean
02-12-2009, 02:45 AM
Lilimae's mousse, I want to know what that tasted like!
better flashbacks:
the Mack/Anne flashbacks or the Abby/Charles flashbacks?
AdrianCuldesac
02-12-2009, 10:56 AM
Mack/Anne if only for seeing Doug Savant...;)
more flashbacks with:
Val and Gary OR Karen and Sid?
pdlbean
02-18-2009, 07:39 PM
Val and Gary! I would be really interested in their relationship in the early days.
worst resolution to a storyline:
Greg doesn't let up and gets Meg back or Val continues to deny visitation rights to Gary?
AdrianCuldesac
02-21-2009, 08:00 PM
Greg gets Meg, although I would've loved to have seen those repercussions
Abby's home OR the Wards' home?
Daniel Avery
02-21-2009, 11:33 PM
First of all, I have issues with both homes. The Wards' home was sparsely furnished and had one of the most God-awful kitchens I'd ever seen depicted on TV. But the exterior looked nice. Abby's house was furnished much above the station of a single mother working as a book-keeper.
That said, I have to go with the Ward house, simply because it had potential--just like its occupants.
deserved more airtime: Lilimae's romance with Al, or Laura and Greg's falling out over her pregnancy?
AdrianCuldesac
02-22-2009, 02:19 AM
Lillimae's romance with Al, I always root for storylines with the geriatric crowd
most in need of a make-over...
Diana(post-Chip) OR Laura (pre-Greg)?
Mel O'Drama
03-09-2009, 10:00 AM
Ok, I'll go with Diana.
Bigger threat to Karen's marriage:
Susan Philby or Anne Matheson?
AdrianCuldesac
03-09-2009, 08:35 PM
Thank you, Mel!! Finally someone with guts here! :p (i kid i kid!)
Anne Matheson
Olivia...
before her drug problem OR after the drug problem?
Mel O'Drama
03-10-2009, 09:53 AM
After, methinks.
Gary
Living on the Circle or At Westfork?
AdrianCuldesac
03-10-2009, 10:07 AM
even though he wasn't with Valene...Westfork!
Abby...
with Gary OR with Greg?
Mel O'Drama
03-11-2009, 07:32 AM
Even though he wasn't with Valene.... Gary :D
Was Richard better as a
Paranoid, insecure Lawyer or Paranoid, insecure Restaurateur?
AdrianCuldesac
03-11-2009, 10:09 AM
Paranoid, insecure lawyer
Linda better as...
Karen's daughter-in-law OR Paige's rival at TSG?
pdlbean
03-14-2009, 10:25 PM
Karen's daughter-in-law! Loved her!
Best pesonality change:
Mack as a playboy turned family man or Gary from a cheater to being faithful?
Mel O'Drama
03-15-2009, 10:27 AM
Mack from playboy to family man. :hello:
Val's hairstyle:
Braids or Mullet?
AdrianCuldesac
03-15-2009, 05:03 PM
braids, always thought Joan looked so pretty in the first season
Season 6 or Season 9?
Daniel Avery
03-15-2009, 07:12 PM
Season six!
Season 14 or Season 12?
AdrianCuldesac
03-15-2009, 07:43 PM
Season 12
Season 13 OR BTTC?
pdlbean
03-15-2009, 11:10 PM
Season 13 hands down! In my book BTTCDS never even happened.
Most bearable Diana performance:
the song at the beginning of "Hitchhike" or "Put On a Happy Face" with Karen?
Mel O'Drama
03-23-2009, 08:08 AM
I'm going to say "Put On A Happy Face", though goodness only knows why ;) !
More interesting Season 4 addition:
Ciji or Chip
AdrianCuldesac
03-24-2009, 10:07 PM
Chip
more heinous wardrobe malfunction:
Abby's Cobra sweater OR Paige's handlebar business jacket?
Mel O'Drama
04-08-2009, 06:57 AM
Paige's Handlebar Jacket
Season 1 Karen or Season 14 Karen?
Daniel Avery
04-08-2009, 10:25 PM
Season 14 Karen.
Season five Laura or Season eight Laura?
pdlbean
04-09-2009, 12:15 AM
Season 8, all Season 5 Laura did was annoy the crap out of me. (not that I have anything against Laura, but that whole "Richard killed Ciji" thing got real old real fast) :p
Higher on the "Abby Scale":
Claudia or Paige?
AdrianCuldesac
04-09-2009, 11:32 PM
hands down, Claudia, in fact, dare I say it, she could have given Abby a run for her money!!
who should've left instead:
Greg OR Gary?
Daniel Avery
04-10-2009, 01:21 AM
I can imagine Knots without Greg...it would actually have been a great way to further re-focus the show on the original concept of the cul-de-sac and get away from Sumner Group intrigues.
Season 15 (budgets be damned): yea or nay?
pdlbean
04-10-2009, 01:27 AM
hmmm... as much as my heart wants to say that a season 15 could be possible... I think the show was fresh out of material by season 14 and it ended at the perfect time, so we could all remember it fondly. In fact, I cursed BTTCDS for ruining the perfect image I had in my head at the series finale.
Most wanted to see their journey after they left Knots Landing:
Ben or Richard?
Mel O'Drama
04-10-2009, 09:37 AM
Richard, no question. (Although I wish Ben leaving had been cleaner).
Better way to see California:
Running with Val or Horseback Riding with Gary?
AdrianCuldesac
04-10-2009, 05:13 PM
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, running with Val (although I wouldn't have minded riding Gary on horseback, wait...that didn't come out right, or did it? :p)
Paul OR Ruth Galveston?
Daniel Avery
04-10-2009, 11:23 PM
Ruth, by a mile.
Better departure story: Danny's death, or Peter's?
Mel O'Drama
04-11-2009, 08:48 AM
Peter!
More convincing "did Gary kill her?" storyline.
Ciji or Jill?
pdlbean
04-11-2009, 10:30 PM
Definitely Jill, if you watch Gary with Ciji it's quite clear that he's the last person on earth that would ever hurt her.
Dallas character that should have been a regular on Knots Landing:
Bobby or JR?
Mel O'Drama
04-12-2009, 09:34 AM
Bobby, undoubtedly. He fitted in so well. JR seemed quite surreal when placed in the cul-de-sac.
continuing with a similar theme -
Which Desperate Housewife would fit in better on Knots:
Lynette or Susan?
AdrianCuldesac
04-23-2009, 06:44 PM
LYNETTE!! That character is so down to Earth!
became a series regular:
Lynne Moody OR Brian Austin Greene?
Daniel Avery
04-23-2009, 09:51 PM
Lynne Moody! Let Danny run over Frank instead. :)
Better story: Joshua's descent into madness, or Jill's descent into madness?
Mel O'Drama
05-01-2009, 09:00 AM
Well, I loved both, but for the fun-factor I'll cast my vote for:
Jill.
Better hostage situation:
The baby shower siege from Moments of Truth or Richard's nervous breakdown in Night?
pdlbean
05-01-2009, 09:59 PM
Oh come on, Richard hands down! A great season 3 episode.
Worse pummeling:
Gary getting beaten up in Shula or Mack getting beaten up during the Wolfbridge investigation?
AdrianCuldesac
05-19-2009, 08:43 PM
Mack!
funnier Karen moment from season 2...
having to get the last word in with Sid in 'Hitchhike' OR her temperature joke in 'The Loudest Word'?
Mel O'Drama
05-22-2009, 04:44 PM
Hitchhike - just because it's so Karen to need to have the last word.
(BTW, my favourite funny Karen moment from Season 2 was her phone call to the police after Jeff took Olivia & Brian: "She said they couldn't send a squad car to investigate a messy house - - even in Knots Landing!!" lol ).
Val slapping Abby or Laura slapping Abby
pdlbean
05-22-2009, 07:15 PM
Laura! I love that! (and my favorite funny Karen moment is when she's talking to Joe in the kitchen and he leaves and she just keeps talking like he's still there!)
worse cul-de-sac party:
The dinner party when Lilimae first came or the welcome home party when Mack, Michael, and Paige returned from Mexico?
AdrianCuldesac
05-22-2009, 11:13 PM
Lillimae and the mousse from hell! Hands down.
more annoying Trent:
Judy OR Earl?
pdlbean
05-23-2009, 12:46 AM
Judy! Hated her!
song you'd rather have Lilimae serenade you with:
"My Little Maggie" or that "Miner Named Jake" song?
AdrianCuldesac
05-23-2009, 01:39 AM
actually, I would have loved to have heard "Shady Grove" but I'll go with "My Little Maggie" :)
more annoying habit:
Olivia's repeat-everything-I-say-game OR Brian's constant horn blowing?
Franko
05-24-2009, 10:06 PM
Gonna go with Olivia's repeat-everything-I-say game.
Ewing wife whose books you'd rather read: Val or Donna (from Dallas)?
Mel O'Drama
05-25-2009, 09:30 AM
Definitely Val's (I'm not interested in politics ;) )
Which of Val's books would you rather take to a desert island:
Capricorn Crude or Nashville Junction?
Franko
05-25-2009, 03:57 PM
Capricorn Crude.
Show you'd actually watch: A Better Tomorrow or Open Mike?
pdlbean
05-25-2009, 05:50 PM
that's a good one! I'd really not be interested in either, but I'll go with "Open Mike", I'm really not into televangelist junk. :p
more believable "fake death" story:
Gary during the Wolfbridge investigation or Val during Treadwell?
AdrianCuldesac
05-25-2009, 06:35 PM
Val (although Gary's was more believable)
Scooter Warren#1 OR Scooter Warren#2?
Daniel Avery
05-25-2009, 09:06 PM
Scooter #1, definitely. Scooter #2 was played by John Considine, who went on to play the uber-villain Reginald Love on Another World, who was one of the most heinous villains ever on that show. I know he's an actor playing roles, but every time I see him playing "TempScooter" I want to yell "Run, Laura! He'll steal your kids and try to kill you!"
better musician: Ben (bagpipes) or Michael (keyboards)?
pdlbean
05-29-2009, 10:14 PM
hm... well Ben and his bagpipes always made me smile. :p
Worst response to "I love you":
During the wolfbridge investigation: Karen: "Mack, I love you." Mack: "You look so nice." OR after Karen is home from being kidnapped: Karen: "I love you." Mack: "Well let's eat."
Franko
05-30-2009, 01:46 PM
"Well let's eat." "You look nice" is, at least, a compliment. "Well let's eat", to me, just seems like denial.
Better attempt at repentant parenting: Lilimae or Greg?
AdrianCuldesac

Lilimae hands down. Greg was always so damned aloof.
More interesting rivalry:
Claudia and Alex OR Paige and Linda?
Steve Winwood

Paige and Linda. Alex was such a smarmy lout, Claudia SHOULD have poisoned his salad dressing
Most annoying future movie actress:
Halle Berry or Kristy Swanson?
Daniel Avery

Jody (Swanson) annoyed the everlovin' hell out of me, but what made it worse was knowing the character was not a cartoon--there were actually girls that clingy and weird.
Best blink-and-you-missed-it surprise bit-part actor:
Michael Dorn as Sid's paramedic at the car crash scene, or Dick Sargent (Darrin #2!) as a PE coach?

Dick! If I'm not mistaken, he was playing himself!
Who gives a better interview:
Joan OR Michele?
Daniel Avery

Hard to say. They're usually interviewed together, and talk all over one another. :)
Nah...I give it to ML, but not by much.
Character you would have wanted as your life coach: Claudia or Anne?

As much as I love Claudia, I think I would fare better with Anne Matheson handing me advice.
Dallas character you would have liked to have seen MOVED to the cul-de-sac:
Jenna Wade (Morgan Fairchild version) OR Angelica Nero?
Mel O'Drama

Morgan's version of Jenna!
More moving Season 6 beach scene with Val:
Gary telling her they're not married anymore
or
Abby telling her she knows where the twins are?

Abby telling her about the twins, because that rollercoaster ride of emotion had just begun!
Having at least five more critically panned seasons after the 14th OR a critically praised, modern day re-imagining with a new cast that lasts only 4 episodes?
Daniel Avery

I'd prefer to see the short-lived four-episode re-boot, because it would be so much easier to dis-own it and deny its heritage.
Kinda like we did with Back to the Cul-De-Sac. :)
If KL had continued to run past 14, who would have left first:
Kevin Dobson or Ted Shackelford
Mel O'Drama

Sadly I think it would have been Ted :(
And if Knots had continued past Season 14, who would have been the most likely to have returned full-time (assuming both only returned in Just Like Old Times as it was the finale):
Donna Mills or Joan Van Ark
Daniel Avery

Joan Van Ark, though I think DM would probably have signed one of those "eight episode" deals (or six, or whatever) as a Special Guest Star in season 15 for one more great storyline before Abby once again took off.
If the show had went on, which character would have been better to bring back long-term: Eric, Michael or Diana?

Hmmm. As for Eric, I would have preferred the character to remain incognito rather than recasting it. So, he's out. Michael had just left like two seasons (?) ago. Not enough time had passed (IMHO) to bring that character back.
So...Diana, by default (but I love her). :D
And continuing the theme here...
Richard Avery OR Ginger Kilman?
