NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movie.

The 53-year-old actor will take on the chilling role in a remake of the 1984 original.

Robert Englund, who played the part in eight films, revealed that Thornton will star in the horror films and is an "excellent choice" for the role.

He adds, "A big budget should mean the film will look a lot better than some of the old movies."

Eww, I'm sick of remakes. I've actually never seen the original, but I know many people that like it, and I know enough about it to know that it can't top the original.

Why do they have to do a remake?
why can't they just make a new Elm Street movie?

I like to watch Billy Bob in movies. He cracked me up in Bad Santa & Mr. Woodcock. I like him in the Astronaut Farmer too, my son loves that movie. Friday Night Lights was good too. I like how versatile he is but I'm not sure if I can handle a Freddy Kruger with a southern accent...

Hollywood just can't come up with new movies so they remake.

But a Nightmare movie without Robert...Impossible!!!

It will be sh*t. Even Heather Langdencamp (sp?) who starred as Nancy in parts 01 and 03 (and as herself in Part 08(?), I believe) said that the franchise became more about how the special effects looked as opposed to the plotline (and this was even before parts 04-08 were produced).

Why remake it? Freddy Krueger (or as Heather Langenkamp used to call him, "Fred Krueger") is an immortal character. He's dead, for criminy's sakes. You can't kill him! So write another great Freddy movie. And if the first scriptwriter can't do it, get another. And another, until there's another good Freddy movie that we'll all want to see.

But you can't top the original. Heather, Robert Englund, Johnny Depp, John Saxon -- that's some great shit. The scene where Heather falls asleep in class, then 'wakes up,' and starts prowling the hallways.... that's just some great filmmaking.

That doesn't need to be remade!

Is Wes Craven involved with this?
