Never watched even a single episode of this soap, I know it ran for around 50 episodes though and I do love Sable, Emmas Samms Fallon & Monica from Season 9 of Dynasty so Im sure I'd love this too.
It would be good to one day have all 11 seasons in the Dynasty story its 9 seasons + this ones two

I totally agree. I have a lot of them from SoapNet, back when they had the sense to air these shows.
Season 9 was an awesome season. That was when Emma finally given the writing to be able to be the real Fallon. I loved her in the Colbys-- but that was like another Fallon.

Thanks for the help guys I bought 1 - 9 of Dynasty bootlegged ages ago but never found someone who had The Colbys so just kind of forgot about it.
I do hope it gets released officially though

I think we'll be lucky to see season four of Dynasty on DVD, let alone The Colbys.

I agree with both of you that it would be great if we could have THE COLBYS officially released on DVD !!
However, we are not even sure if we are getting DYNASTY Season 3 Volume 2 or Season 4 on dvd, so how can we "have hope" / "be lucky" about THE COLBYS? Are you basing your statements on facts? Because, in my opinion, Paramount/CBS may consider to release THE COLBYS on dvd only if DYNASTY sells well up to and including Season 6, not to say up to the end of the series (Season 9)...

The Colbys would be wonderful on DVD. There's only 2 Seasons to release, I don't see what the hold up is. Other shows where the quality is terrible have been released.

Pity, Season 4 was my favourite.

I still don't all the negativity. Volume 1 of Season 3 is out, and volume 2 will be here in the fall. That's not bad.
As for The Colbys. I think it will be eventually, especially now that Heston has passed on. Didn't mean to sound morbid there, sorry.

I have a feeling The Colbys will one day go digital too.

Sure it will get a dvd release - but wonder will come after Dynasty Season 5 when it should - or after Season 9

This is probably a very silly thought but is it possible that the delay in releasing Falcon Crest/Knots Landing dvd's has anything to do with the fact that they haven't finished Dallas yet?
As if they don't want to give customers anything to choose from...Dallas OR Knots Landing OR Falcon Crest...and thus losing sales?
I know it's stupid, just something that crossed my mind.
Never mind, by all means ignore. I'm just a desperate FAN trying to find some logical explanations.
I doubt it Willie.
Knots season 1 sold horribly, which I think is the reason we haven't seen more. Knots really didn't become popular until season 5 or so.
Falcon Crest, well, think a large part of their original fan base is dead.

No, I think it makes sense for FC and KL as they were Lorimar productions. Several collections (whether DVDS or books) are often released with one in the forefront to test the waters and also not to glut the market. If you have all three out at the same time, you're going to have to make a choice which one to buy.

That's a ridiculous statement. Are you saying there is NO interest in Falcon Crest because some of the original audience members are dead? If that's the case, why reissue I Love Lucy or Star Trek? Of course, both of those have been in syndication and shown on an almost daily basis, but you're assuming there are no new Falcon Crest fans and as soon as the last surviving original fan dies, that's it. That's why I have trouble finding the Doors CDs -- Morrison's been dead too long.

I am far from dead! Falcon Crest does have younger fans, it's not just the older people who watched it the first time around who are fans.
The FC forum is quiet these days though, probably due to lack of screenings around the world to get people motivated, rather than us all being on the other side.

Hi mattwuk
I've seen Falcon Crest 2½ times (haha) but somehow it's very difficult to discuss this show, apart from the fabulous guest stars, best cliff-hanger and of course Maggie - and Susan Sullivan.
These topics have been done to death now, so...
Most of the stuff just "happened" or happened to "be there" - there is no point in discussing where it came from.
It was a fantastic show but also very hit and miss.
When they were good, they were the best. Especially season 2 and 3.

Yes, some excellent points. The best Seasons were 2 and 3. I also liked 4 and 5.

Season 2 was excellent, really upbeat and different. Richard was a brilliant addition to the cast! I thought Season 1 was a pretty good Season of television.

Yes Benny JR. We shouldn't estimate Season one, it had a freshness about it and it did pave the way for the bigger Seasons.
