Did any of you ever volunteer at the voting polls? I'm not technically volunteering, because the Youth at the Booth program pays each student. But it's great experience! I had my first training a couple weeks ago on how to set up the machines and so on. It seemed kind of complicated, but there's one more practice session, so I should catch on.

It was a great experience. I was the only "Youth at the Booth" worker there. There were four others. They were all great people. It was actually the first time at that precinct for all four of them -- so it wasn't like I was intruding on a routine they've had down for 55 years. Our precinct had approximately 20% of its voters come and vote.

I hope I get to work the Primaries on March 4th.

Last federal election, my husband was a candidate for our electorate.
His party nominated him so it had a face to show to encourage people to vote for his party for the senate.
I was at the polling booth that day handing out how to vote cards.
We are in a very safe seat here, and the standing member had no chance of losing the seat, so it was in some ways pointless.. but then again it was also important to offer the people a choice.. and i was one of the few at the booth that day who did not get yelled at or abused by any of the voters.. at least i knew i was helping out the good guys.

Tomorrow is Ohio's Primary and I'm again working the polls. We're expecting a 50-70% turn-out.

I think we only got about a 30% turn-out at our precinct.

Because Democrats have low turnout in blue collar areas.
