7-year-old suspended over stick-figure drawing
Complaint about image depicting 'water pistol' leads to disciplinary action

OK, I understand we have to get school violence under control after the string of school shootings over the last 10 years or so. I get it. But this is silly. A little kid is suspended over a stick figure? If this disciplinary action was done when I was in gradeschool, nobody would have an education.
I also saw articles where little 2nd and 3rd graders were suspended over touching people of the opposite sex, termed sexual harrassment. The PC police have jumped the shark.
Your thoughts?

Are the kids getting an education now?

The word "Kafkaesque" (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=Kafkaesque) comes to mind. The inmates are in charge of the asylum and out of control.

In 6th grade I got suspended for saying "I hope you die" to a particularly nasty boy. This was viewed as "terroristic threatening" lol

The PC brigade have certainly taken over. You have to tread really carefully, and watch what you say and do.
The Secondary School I attended in the 70's, was a typical Inner City shithole, where any sort of behaviour, good bad or indifferent went unchallenged.
Now it is the other end of the scale, where a stick figure drawing, can be deemed offensive.
I have witnessed the metalwork teachers keys, soldered to his own car, because he took a nap in class.
I have witnessed so called "weaker" kids, held over the science room, gas taps, kicking and screaming.
There must be a happy medium somewhere along the line.
I feel the school I attended, was run like a borstal, but some of the schools now are too politically correct, that it's sickening.
I personally, havent got the answer to it all, but I do know this pc malarky is getting out of hand.

I drew a picture of a naked woman on my covered textbook once.
I thought it was pretty good.
A teacher noticed and I got a week's detention..
This PC stuff is not new...

Detention is not suspension, and were you only 7 years old ???
NEW LAW:
"If a male touches a female, he will be suspended. Furtermore physical contact will result to the male being hung from the toes and whipped.
As for death threats: Whoever utters them within a school enviroment will be immediately killed off in front of all the students as an example against terrorists."
What? I can see that happening pretty soon. :D:D:D
DDD
but we will give out birth control to 11 years olds

The latest story has been of a 13 year old girl suspended for hugging both a male and female student. The girl said she was confused because she was taught in her D.A.R.E program "hugs, not drugs." The school apparently is in conflict with that statement, as it states in their handbook that any type of public affection (including hugging) is "in poor taste, reflects poor judgement, and brings discredit to the school and the persons involved."
LOL, are they serious? I'm so glad to be out of the public school system. I never thought I would see the day that hugging would be considered sexual and "in poor taste."
What a cold, cruel world they are creating! This world is unfriendly enough without having to turn a simple hug into something bad. This sickens me.
