Mrs Jock. WTF? I know Elvis is dead; What do you take me for!:S
I am living the now; and his single "Hound Dog" is back in the charts, it is a news article and I posted it "in the Lounge" where "you can discuss anything".
You don;t have to read my posts you know, if you don;t like Elvis fair comment, but if you have any "derogatory comments" to make; say them to youself, not post them on here; which in my book is "flaming" to get a reaction from me, to start a slanging match.
So Jock .... put me on "ignore" if you don't like my posts, but you aint getting a reaction from me in the way you had wanted.:grrr:
I don't care if you report this post either!

 did those drugs help him ascend to stardom and become a legend or .... did those drugs accelerate his death?
You act like you want more acceptance of drug use, but all your comments end up emphasizing how destructive they are!

Fair enough, the fact that he had these personal problems doesn't make him less of a worthy human being though.
I feel sorry for Elvis.... he ultimately was destroyed by his fame. He just like many other celebrities just didn't have anyone to look out for him and tell him what needed to be said.
Many celebrities surround themselves with "Yes" people that are afraid to speak up and speak out when said celebrity engages in self destructive behavior.

Yes, drugs are destructive, but my point is that drug users are in many sectors of live and shouldn't be regarded as second class citizens by anyone. Drug users are not "losers". They are just people unfortunate enough to have personal demons that they cannot conquer.

But if they turn to crime to fund their habit, which many do OR put other peoples' lives in danger then they do become second class citizens. I have no probs with people taking drugs as long as they have the bank account to do so and so long as they don't get into a car and drive under the influence. If people want to put their health at serious risk then that's their business just as long as they are not hurting other parties!

But what about Lisa Marie? Elvis's actions contributed to the fact that she had to experience the pain of growing up without a father.
BTW.... I had a next door neighbor who died of a drug overdose back in July.

Reality: People don't "have to" regard others in a way you dictate to them.
Why waste my time showing courtesy to someone that doesn't even bother to show themselves the courtesy of not putting harmful substances in themselves
You are welcome to ... go ahead ... no one tells you you have to regard them as second class citizens, so why are you telling others what to think?

That church stuff scares me, it's too bad so many celebrities think
they need that church to fulfill their lives.
As for Elvis, I realize that he was a pill user, who thought he really

the great voice he had, even in the end

Elvis was a legend - he was when he was living and he is now that he is dead - no other singer is like him and the fact that Graceland is such a tourist attraction and attracts 100000s per year to see it, says it all!
Elvis will still be loved and remembered long after Im gone! he was a !00% star and no one today compares to him. He has left a wonderful legacy of music behind.

Worth noting that this is the UK charts, where songs frequently just show up for no real reason. On a weekly basis you'll find The Beatles, Elvis, even 8 year old Billie Piper songs on the chart on top of groups who are absolutely nobody and a lot of novelty songs. It's not really the most prestigious chart to crack. One memorable example was in 1963, when the album With The Beatles reached #10 on the British singles chart despite being a full LP.
But good for Elvis, I appreciate his influence even though I only find a few of his songs really as good as advertised.
