Cop Suspended For "Ghetto Handbook"

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2007/0831073ghetto1.html

AUGUST 31--A crude "ghetto handbook" distributed to police patrolling Houston's public schools has resulted in the suspension of one officer. The eight-page booklet--a copy of which you'll find below--was handed out in May by a officer with the city's Independent School District, but did not come to the attention of school brass until recently, when a discrimination complaint was lodged. The booklet, which was given to about 20 cops, is subtitled "Wucha dun did now?," and purports to help the reader "learn to speak ebonics as if you just came out of the hood...because you could find you self with a problem one day and ebonics could save your life." The booklet offers definitions for street slang like "hoodrat" ("scummy girl") and "foty" (a 40-ounce bottle of beer) and concludes with a "poem" incorporating these terms. It also includes a copyright notation that the booklet is a "first edition, second soon to follow." That now appears to be the wishful thinking of a novice author. The booklet was provided to TSG by school officials who removed the name of the suspended officer from the publication (as well as the names of several other cops who have not been disciplined). It's stupid sh*t like this that makes me think that the possiblity of racial harmony in this country is as far fetched as believing in the Easter Bunny.

A clear example of how so many cops are completely and utterly detached from the reality that constitutes the lives of the people they are supposedly "protecting & serving."

It's seems like they are judging, objectifying and beating the people they are "serving"...

It has always seemed to me that the kind of person who is attracted to police work is not that far from being a criminal themselves.

The SAT is a crappy exam anyway that tests how to take a test rather than actual real world knowledge.

He has no place in law enforcement as racism seems to be within him (althought probably most of what is in that book is true and factual).

indeed, MM. people who don't put their lives on the line every time they report to work seem quite eager to judge those who do.

This book came from years of observations of inner city people, which made the contents true, even though it's considered racist by some.

And thankfully, the good Lord in Heaven blessed me with numerous skills where I can make good $$$$ without having to put my life on the line everday. :wiggle:
