Thief Steals Elvis Gun; Purloined Weapon Later Found In Toliet

(August 21, 2007)--There was a thief in the crowd of fans who descended on Memphis last week to mark the 30th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death.
Authorities say he stole a handgun that once belonged to the entertainer.

A cleaning man was able to fish the pistol out of the muck.
The black, 9 mm Smith & Wesson pistol was taken from a display case in the Elvis After Dark museum, across the street from Graceland.
A video camera captured images of a man taking the gun last Tuesday.
The theft wasn't discovered until Friday when a visitor noticed a glass panel on a display case was unfastened and Graceland officials reviewed the video.
