Hi, I need some advice, does anyone know any hints of getting rid of a friend that's very clingy

My mum can get rid of this really annoying woman who keeps phoning her to ask her to come for coffee all the time.

My mum has tried to let her down gently but she won't take the hint and leave us alone, she's always calling us up, she's like a stalker lol

I keep telling my Mum to tell her to p*ss off but my Mum is to kind to do so lol

Abby. :D

It's very simple, people like this can be very annoying I know, but the simplest, easiest way is to just phase them out, then no one gets hurt, when she calls again, and if you answer, make up an excuse, cover for your Mother, say she's busy or visitng a relative in hospital or something. Then when/and if she happens to arrive at your front door, say to her on your Mum's behalf that 'something suddenly came up'. Works like a charm. Hope this helps!

Another thing you can always do is say that your Mum is 'just too busy' and hasn't got the free time that this lady obviously has.

I have caller ID and voicemail for handling that kind of stuff :D

I call back when I feel like, and I plan an exit strategy. There is a very funny Seinfeld episode about this situation lol.

Oh I had an annoying colleague like that once. Once when she rang my doorbell, I hid under the bed, thing is I was 22 at the time! :o

There is nothing you can do!!!

Call the police straight away!!! Or the stalker hotline!!!

We've tried every excuse in the book she won't take the hint. "We're going out for the day, we're visiting friends" etc.

Short of killing her there's nothing else we can think off :D

Has she tried telling her to F*** off? I find nowadays that works quite well!

Maybe you could suggest to your mum to get the other woman interested in an activity, either that or ask if she can bring a friend to these coffee meetings.

Well, if all else fails, sometimes you just gotta tell it like it is unless you want to go through life with the feeling of a grand piano strapped to your back! ;)

Well, I hate to say it, but it looks like you are all literally screwed! LoL. Maybe hiring some henchmen and having her locked away in a dungeon in some far away European country is the only sane solution.

Abby i am afraid your mother is going to have to be rather blunt in a serious tone!..this is going to be difficult especially as your mum seems from what you say to have a very diplomatic persona.
All the same she does not have to be unduley rude or say things of a intrinsically personal nature, but i would advise her to tell the lady she doe s not want a freindship of any kind and that she really did mnot want to hurt anyone but feels that over the course of time a hint could not be taken and there fore merits having to be blunt!.
also suggest that if she is lonely or depressed to talk to the correct people about it and that being clingy in this manner can be very off putting and uneasing to some.
I hope this works out for her, i would simply tell the person " shirley!! i don't want you around! Body odour Affends me!!!"...;)
