The truth and nothing but the truth… double crossed and hurt

At the first sight of Blake Edwards in Mr Carrington’s big office, she thought he was there for a business meeting. They were all alone and the door was shut closed behind her.

“What are you doing here in Mr Carrington’s office she asked? I thought I had an appointment myself with him at 2.00 pm for an interview. There must be some kind of misunderstanding, I will go and check with his secretary…” Krystle was only half way to the door when Blake stopped her calling her by nickname in a soft voice.
“Krystledarling…wait. I have something to explain to you. Come sit here with me for a moment.”

Now she noted that his jacket was hanging over the back of the exclusive leather executive chair on the other side of the big shiny mahogany desk. She looked at it and she got suspicious. Then she saw the brass nameplate on the desk, “Blake E. Carrington, CEO and president” and as she looked back at him, chills went down her spine and she met his strong face, piercing eyes and realized…

“Krystle, I have not been truly honest with you. You see … I am Blake Edward Carrington, president, CEO and founder of this corporation.” Now he held her hands and her narrowed eyes were sparkling with anger and shock.
“Why Blake, why?” was the only thing she could say.
“From the first moment I saw you, his voice almost cracked, I fell head over heals in love with you. But I wasn’t sure about you, how you would react to my wealth and power. Therefore, I only used my two first names, Blake Edward, and left out Carrington. I just wanted to get to know you like an ordinary man and not like some high all mighty oil tycoon. I did it out of love for you alone.”

The shock when Krystle realized the office grapevine was about her, Mr Carrington’s last conquest, the classical story about the secretary sleeping with her boss was more than she was able to cope with. Her moral standards were higher than that and she had never had any romance in mind. At least not with any boss of hers, but she found herself playing with fire and was being burned as she realised the handsome and intriguing Mr Edwards in facto was the top dog of Denver Carrington. Mr Blake Carrington and her boss. She was there only for the job and nothing else. If she was about to make career it was because of her skills and devotion to the company – not by sleeping with the top dog! She felt a faint at the awkward situation and not really knowing how to handle it, she dug her fingernails into the palms of her hands until it hurt. She stumbled on the words as she excused herself from his office. Her heart was pounding and she could not think straight. “So this was the man she was going to work for (actually, she was working for him already) – she could try it out for a while or quit and go back looking for a new job.” Disappointed and with hurt feelings she left the office and went home. She had heard the rumours about the ruthless oil tycoon at Denver Carrington but she could never have imagined in her wildest dreams herself falling in love with him. “It was the charming Mr Edwards she had fallen in love with.”

As she left the room, she did not see the remorse hitting Blake’s face as he was struck by the knowledge he had probably lost his chances with this marvellous lady who obviously had true feelings for him and was not after his money. She had just fallen for him – seen him for what kind of person he really was inside that rough and ruthless armour of stainless steel and concrete.

He shouted out for her but she was already gone…damn it! He blamed himself in anger. Realising what he had just done to her, his love of his life, he sat down in his soft leather chair. He put his hand over his eyes and sighed, shaking his head pulling his hand through his thick wavy hair. He pressed the intercom and told Janet he did not want to be disturbed for the rest of the afternoon.
“Hold all calls unless they are from Miss Grant … “

He did not hear anything from her that afternoon or the next day for that matter. “Well she is probably downstairs with Greg working for him as usual.” A few hours later Stone turned up at his office, asking what had happened with his assistant – was she promoted or what? Blake stared at him.

“What do you mean, I thought she was with you; she never turned up this morning.”
“Well when I got in just half an hour ago from a meeting across town, I found this on my desk. Her resignation…” He handed it over to Blake who read it hastily.
“She says something about going back to Dayton – do you know what that means?”
“I am sorry sir but I do not know more than you do sir.” Stone shook his head. Blake pressed the intercom, “…Janet, have my car brought around immediately!”

Blake drove his car in the direction of Desmond Street, hoping to catch up with Krystle before she walked out of his life forever. He parked his car in front of her condo building and rushed through the entrance, heading for the lift. Damn it, it was on its way up. He considered taking the stairs instead but he decided to wait for it to come down, assuring himself he would not miss her. When it finally came down again and the doors slid open, a woman was about to step out when he realised it was Krystle, very casually dressed in pale worn out jeans, a blue shirt and sneakers. She had her hair in a ponytail and wore no make up.

“Darling, get back inside! We have to talk!”

Surprised by his appearance she did as he said when he stepped into the lift and pressed the button for her floor. The tension became intense at once, Blake lifted her cheek up, embraced and kissed her passionately, leaving her no chance to object, and she had definitely nowhere to escape as the lift went up. She was swept off her feet and indulging her into his strong arms and ecstatic kisses. For a few minutes they did not speak. Nothing needed to be said either. The door slid open at the fourth floor, he grabbed her suitcase and with a strong arm around her waist, he took her back to her apartment. She leaned her head against his shoulder as he took her keys, unlocked the door, and went inside. Krystle realized there was no idea in protesting against his doing right now, so she went with the flow. He put her suitcase on the floor as he shut the door behind them, turned Krystle around facing him. He looked deeply in her blue eyes holding her head in his big warm hands.

“I love you Krystle. Regardless of my name, would you please love me back? You are the love of my life, the only one I care for and you mean the world to me. Don’t you know that? These last three months have been so special to me…do you not feel the bond between us? “

He looked just like a little puppy, filled with warmth and remorse for what he had done to her, his deep brown eyes holding hers tightly. She could not resist him, not when he turned on his charm like this.

“Blake, don’t you see? You cannot go around playing games with people, manipulating them the way it suits you best. Especially not me! I am no toy or just another employee (well I am, I admit that…) you can boss around. I have feelings too you know. Sure we have probably both been playing charades with each other, but at least I was honest about who I am!” She pulled herself away from his arms and walked over to the window.

“Oh, good god she looks just like an angel, she is an angel…” Blake’s body quivered with desire to own this cool woman with all the energy and warmth tied up inside of her.
“Please say you will stay, at least for a while, so we can sort things out.” Blake pleaded to her.
“Don’t you know how deeply you have hurt me? I trusted you… and now it is all gone. How do I know you will not act like this again? You and the whole situation have become so complicated and now … now I do not know what else to say.” Her voice faded and she sighed.

Blake walked up next to her and put his arms around her waist from behind. He took in her feminine fragrance and breathed her whole being in. There might be a chance to win her over again, to trust me he thought.
“Is there anything I can do to make this up to you,” he asked slowly aware of how she might react to this and kissed her delicately exposed neck.
“No, nothing at all.” She whispered softly in a neutral tone.

He then turned her around, bent down and softly kissed her sweet lips. He felt her trembling as she responded and kissed him back. Despite all, she could not help loving him. They were made for each other and fitted like pots and pans. She put her arms around his neck and he embraced her letting his sensual hands slide and caress her body, softly finding her firm breasts and pressed her body tight against his own. With his deep voice, he breathed in her mouth whispering:

“Let me show you how much I love you, how much you mean to my life. I cannot live without you.”

Then he lifted her up, carried her to the bedroom, and put her down on her bed. He spread butterfly kisses on her neck and found that pulsing vein, always throbbing when she was excited. He took off his jacket and slowly unbuttoned her blue soft shirt finding her body shiver and responding to his soft sensitive touches. Her hands ran through his thick silvery hair and as he lay on top of her, she could feel all of his masculinity pulsing in his body. They equally responded to each other’s touches and kisses and carried them to new heights, as they become one. That afternoon they only cared for each other, being so close and made love yet another time confirming their feelings for each other. Later in the evening, they dressed for dinner and went dancing at a little restaurant downtown to talk things over.

The next day Blake decided to take the rest of the week off spending a long weekend at his cabin in the Rocky Mountains with his lovely Krystle. He believed they both need the time off and he still intended to offer her the job as his personal assistant. After all, she was not his fiancée yet and needed an occupation until he had made her his wife. He wanted to see her sweet face every morning, knowing she was only a few feet away. He also had to come to terms with his own feelings and stand up for his love and try to make it up to her in any way possible. He called her from the Carrington Mansion before he went to work knowing she was at home taking the day off as he had suggested – and she could hardly object since he was the top executive after all.

“Good morning my darling, did you have sweet dreams last night?” He grunted in a cheerful voice.
“Good morning Blake, yes I had sweet dreams…of you…”
“What wonderful news! Oh, by the way Krystle, I am giving you the rest of the week off if you do not mind… I thought we could go up to my cabin in the Rockies for a long weekend, only the two of us – how about that? “
“Oh, that sounds lovely, but what about Greg Stone…?”
“… Stone … he got himself a new assistant yesterday. Therefore, you will not be working for him anymore. Your resignation was approved…”
“…What? …what do you mean by that?”
“Well it happens to be an opening as a personal assistant to one of the top executives at a big corporation in town. I can get you that position if you like, the benefits and salary is better too. This guy owes me one too…”

Krystle was quiet on the other line of the phone. She had not thought of it that way yesterday. She had to go looking for a new job as soon as possible.
“I’ll think about it over a pot of coffee,“ she answered shortly.
“Okay, but pack a bag, just casual wears. I will have to run a few errands this morning. I will pick you up at two pm. In addition, do not worry about the job; you have got until Monday to decide. Bye darling.”

Blake hung up the phone. There was nothing at the office that could not wait until Monday but he had to run his errands at Jensen’s Jewellery as soon as possible. He wondered what he would pick out for her…nothing too expensive, pearls perhaps with diamond sets…, then something sexy, and something warm to wear. Blake smiled to himself. This was going to be a weekend to remember!

Krystle stayed in bed for another hour, and then she got up and took a long hot shower remembering the soft caress of Blake’s hands running up and down her body. “I think he actually loves me”…she stepped out of the shower and put her thick cotton bathrobe on and dried her hair with a towel. She went into the kitchen and made some breakfast as she started thinking about what clothes to pack. Ironically, the bag was still unpacked since yesterday. She only had to remove a few office suits, her pairs of high heal, and then she was done.

At the cabin

Blake picked her up in his Jeep Cherokee and they went for his cabin up in the mountains. It was a good two-hour drive and they arrived at around four pm in a small village called Harvest Moon where they went grocery shopping together. Mrs Gunnerson had prepared a few delicacies but the rest of the stuff had to be bought on location. The clerk greeted Blake as Mr Edwards to Krystle surprise and wished him a pleasant stay during the weekend. He was informed the weather was to be sunny and clear until Monday when a cold front was expected with bad weather. They thanked the shopkeeper and Krystle had a feeling this was not the first time he was here. They left for the cabin, another twenty minutes drive on winding roads until they arrived to the coarse log cabin. About 150 square meters with a front porch, a well equipped kitchen, four bedrooms and a big fireplace in the middle of the living room. They brought all the groceries and bags inside. Blake lit a big fire in the cosy living room and Krystle made her way around the kitchen putting food and wine away for later. Krystle - wearing khakis, a flannel shirt and boots did not hear Blake come. He stood watching her from the doorway and when she was startled by his presence, he went over and embraced her, kissing her neckline.

“I love you Miss Grant.”
“Blake you scared me for a moment.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. I just needed to lay my eyes on another beautiful view for a while instead of that long boring road. What are we having for dinner darling?”
“What do you want? “
“You… Blake said. I am not hungry yet. How about you, would you mind working up an appetite?” He said seductively and smiled at her.
“Ohh, you want me. Well I’ll see what I can do about that,” and she reached up to kiss him. “How about that for an appetizer?”
“Mmmm, delicious!!!”

Then he lifted her up and carried her to the thick rug in front of the flickering warm fire. The light was dim in the room and it was already dark outside. A few candles were burning in the room, reflecting the warm light on the coarse log walls. It was all quiet except for the crackling fire and the breeze outside. They sank own on the rug and indulged themselves to each other confirming their love. He went for her inviting lips, kissed her eyes, her cheek and nose, found his way down her delicate neck, softly nibbling her earlobe sending waves of emotions through her body. He caressed her firm breasts and made her nipples react and get stiff. He spread kisses all over her body feeling her shiver by every touch.

As he discovered her, he found her well of honey, the pebble making her arch her back and grunt, sighing, and make little noises as he took her to higher grounds. She could feel his strong legs rubbing against hers, their hips joint together. His strong muscles were playing on his back and they started to move together as one. Wherever he lead her she followed until they came together in a burst of fireworks and gravity brought them back to earth. Exhausted they curled up together, his arms around her body in a possessive way as they fell asleep. When they woke up an hour later, there was a cosy atmosphere in the room. None of them was saying a word – it was unnecessary. It was almost as if they knew what the other one wanted. They slipped into something more comfortable, Blake opened a bottle of wine and Krystle brought some cold cuts from the kitchen. They ate in silence. Just being together was enough, feeding each other, sucking fingers and sharing food in sweet kisses. The intimacy was complete and relaxed. When the wine and food was finished, they went to bed and curled up together they fell asleep.

To be continued...
