This Sable/Zach story is my interpretation of what happend in the Colbys, with transcripts as a base until the cliffhanger in Season 2, when my own story takes off... I hope you don't mind this... I'm also writing it this way because I know there are so many out there who hasn't seen the Colbys and a lot of scenes are connected to the parallell Dynasty ones.
I hope you will enjoy them as much as I enjoyed writing them. :hello:

Zachary Powers & Sable Scott-Colby
Their first meeting
Zachary Powers, a notorious womanizer and a shipping company owner had lunch at the Belvedere Restaurant – a well-reputed restaurant downtown Los Angeles, with a business acquaintance wrapping up a shipping deal, when suddenly a beautiful woman caught his attention across the room. Actually, her laughter distracted him and made him seek its source. An exquisite woman and her date had joined another couple and obviously had an entertaining conversation between them.
Zach, the constant bachelor since his late wife descended fifteen years ago had never found another woman to love again after her tragic drowning accident in the Mediterranean. Sure, there had been occasionally dates and shorter acquaintances but never anything serious. The women that had passed by in his life were only beautiful awards for the game and it was the hunting that triggered him to go after them. Once he knew them, they were all dull and shallow with no real fire burning inside.
His late wife had been beautiful and had brains too but the main reason he got married to her was her heritage. Her father owned one of the biggest shipping companies in Greece with a prosperous future ahead. In time, after her death, Zach became the major shareholder and president and he continued expanding the business into shipping oil with his tanker fleet in the Pacific Ocean.
Sable Scott-Colby, married to the great oil tycoon Jason Colby in Los Angeles, had a lunch date with the interior architect on behalf of her art museum, the Colby Collection, and some serious art collectors considering a donation in form of a very rare Chagall from the artist’s early years. The Colby Collection was one of the largest private collections in the country and this contribution would make it even more attractive to the public. Therefore, it was important that the new painting gained the best space and light possible to please the donator.
Sable had dedicated most of her time to the Colby Collection to create it to its present proportions, it was her tribute to her husband since 28 years, except for her three children the twins Monica and Miles and their younger sister Bliss. Except for the other charity work, this art collection took most of her time and she loved working with all the magnificent art and mingles among the upper class society. During time, she had become a well-respected connoisseur of fine arts.
Mr. Powers, taken by the impression of this mysterious woman – who he believed he had met once before, decided to send over a bottle of champagne to the party and called on the waiter. The more he looked at her the more familiar she seemed to him and he searched his memory to pin her down.
“Who is that beautiful woman in that party over there sitting with the three gentlemen? I cannot remember I have seen her in this restaurant before and I would like to send over a bottle of your best champagne to her table – anonymous off course. Tell me what you know about her…”
Zach pressed a hundred dollar bill in the waiter’s hand.
“Her name is Sable Scott-Colby, founder of the Colby Collection and she is married to Jason Colby, as in the Colby Enterprises…”
“Tell me – which one of the gentlemen is her husband?”
“No one of them, Sir. I think the younger man is her architect and the others are business acquaintances, art collectors. I heard them mentioning Chagall… that is all I know, Sir.”
“Thank you…”
Zach turned his attention back to his business partner and continued the lunch conversation about the shipping deal. He glanced over to the other table from time to time as if Mrs. Scott-Colby were magnetized, he couldn’t take his eyes of her and he realized this woman could be the one in his dreams. He had a certain feeling about her and this time the hunt would be gratefully rewarded even if he did not get her into his bed. He remembered the time he worked on the Colby yacht as a deck boy and walked in on a newly wed Mrs. Colby undressing in the cabin. She was the most beautiful bride he had ever seen but unfortunately, he was sacked and never saw her again, not until today. She looked even more stunning now than he remembered.
Zach remained at his table sipping a brandy after his business partner had left, admiring Sable and taking in every move and every gesture she made. An old habit made him look for other beautiful women in the restaurant but there was no one that could compete with Mrs. Colby. When he looked in her direction, he noticed she was gone and for a second he almost panicked… this was not in his plan… He wanted to have at least a few words with her before he left. He took a last sip of his drink and was ready to leave when he became aware of someone standing next to him and he looked up to find Sable standing there. He got up from his chair and offered her to sit down with him.
“Did I scare you? I did not mean to do that but I had to come over and thank you for the gallant gesture of sending over a bottle of champagne to my lunch party. I am afraid I had to send it back… I don’t drink champagne with or sent from strangers.”
Sable’s voice had a distinct British upper-class accent that made her sound very superior and sophisticated compared to Zach’s Spanish coloured American accent. The past thirty years had not accomplished to take even that away, on the contrary it made her even more attractive to Zach.
“Oh, I see … miss…?”
“Mrs. Colby, Mrs. Jason Scott-Colby. I don’t believe we have met before Mr.…”
“You may be surprised but we have met once before, Mrs. Colby…Let me introduce myself. My name is Zachary Powers, Zach to my friends. Now when you know me, would you care to join me over a glass of champagne? I believe we have some common interests to talk about and I would like to make it up to you if you were offended by this simple gesture.”
“I don’t think so. You see Mr. Powers… I never forget a name and I can’t think of anything that might be ‘common interests’ to me that would make me want to talk to you. And I don’t remember yours. Good day Mr. Powers.”
Then she turned around and left him alone, puzzled and amazed over how this remarkable woman could resist his good looks and charming smile. Any other woman would at least have joined him for a drink, but not Sable Colby… Sabella Scott as he remembered her now, she was one of a kind and this game had just begun and she did not even know she was the prize. Zach set his mind to conquer her and make her his, no matter what the cost.
