Colbys as a stand alone

Would the Colbys have been a greater success if Dynasty had not existed? Meaning if there had never been a Dynasty would the Colbys been the show Dynasty was?

It would have been more successful without "Dynasty" simply because the concept would have been more original.

According to me, it was the case for the first half of the first season. But the producers thought that it created confusion for the viewers and stopped the cross-overs (at the exception of the wedding episode and the 2 appearances of Dominique who said farewell to Garrett and sold her company).
For me, it wasn't a companion piece after that.

To me that's a poll like "Would the chicken be more succesful without the egg?". One just couldn't exist without the other, at least not the "Colbys" we know..

What if Dynasty had not spent so much time introducing the Colbys? Just let The Colbys debut in the fall as its own series, then during November sweeps the two shows crossover, and that's it. Establish the connections, then move on, and maybe only crossing over during February and May sweeps. But instead of wasting time establishing who's who, what's what, etc. and taking away from Dynasty -- which clearly needed to resolve its cliffhanger -- both series could have started up at the same time, establish themselves and then go from there.

yes i think the colbys should off been another soap and had nothingt o do with dynasty.

well ifthere was no dynasty i wouldn't be crazy and i would be your everyday person so with out dynasty i wouldn't be me so thank god dynasty was made that another sighn of me being crazying thinking dynasty made me crazy how did dynasty make me crazy why am i keep on typing rubbish what the matter with me i think i've eatting to buch runny ice cream and sweets and i think i'm high on josh sticks can you et high on josh sticks i wonder.
