3rd Season teasers

Does anyone know of any proposed third season storylines that may have taken place had the Colbys returned?

It was concerning how Aaron Spelling was intending to ship Dominique from Denver (& Dynasty) to California and the The Colby’s in an attempt to save the struggling show. Diahann Caroll (who played Dominique) was evidently unhappy with her role in Dynasty, claiming that her character never seemed to have enough bite and that Alexis (Joan Collins) got all the best storyline’s.

Apparently, Diahann Caroll (as Dominque) was to leave Denver and move to California. Once there, the producers intended to make her the villainess of the show (ala Alexis). She was due to arrive in , what would’ve been, the 3rd season and act as a replacement for Zach Powers (Ricardo Montalban) who was going to depart the show at the end of the 2nd season (after Sable finished their relationship). In fact, as a ‘guest star’ he was only ever intended to appear in the 1st season of the The Colby’s and not become an on-going character.

Anyway, this article went on to state that Aaron Spelling was then going to try & instigate the ULTIMATE casting-coupe by hiring – wait for it- Michael Jackson as Dominique’s long lost son!! Then together, they were supposed to attempt to bring down the Colby empire.
Also, if The Colby’s had made it to a 3rd season Bliss Colby (Claire Yarlett), Philip Colby (Michael Parks) and Zach would all have left – Bliss to New York with her Russian ballet-dance to tow, Philip was to be killed in that car crash with Frankie and Zach was to fly ‘to Europe’ on business and never be heard from again! Jason & Francesca were to be married and Miles was supposed to have a breakdown after the disappearance of Channing & his unborn child, although later she was to return with the child. Finally, Sable was to continue to cause hassle for Jason as she takes up a permanent residence at Colby Enterprise’s, with the intention of taking an active interest in running the company!!

Other than the Michael Jackson thing, the proposed storylines sound great. Any idea what was to have happened to Dominique to make her want to bring down the Colby Empire?

I remember the Michael Jackson rumours. I think either Michael or Latoya would have being great as Dominiques son/daughter. Think of all the extra publicity the show would have got!

Its all good with the exception of Bliss going to New York. I am glad the show ended before Spelling shipped her off to NY but maybe they would have shown her satory in NY not like Amanda in Paris never to be mentioned again. I am really please Channing and baby were due to return. They should do a movie or mini series on the Colbys.

Given Charlton Heston's current condition and the failure of the Dynasty Reunion, that's just wishful thinking -- unless a talk show does a reunion, that's about all I see.

IMO, Bliss can depart and they should bring amanda to the colbys. they didn't know what to do with amanda in dynasty, such a waste potential character. in the colbys, they will have enough room to develop her role. she can be another girl for miles, rivalary with channing /sable/monica, or try to steal jeff from her sister, fallon.

i will happy to see more interactions between carrington sisters. so weird they talk once only in dynasty

I think that Amanda would have been as big a waste on Colbys as she was on Dynasty she was window dressing and one wooden actress on Colbys was enough maybe Amanda was flying the spaceship lol.

The Colbys had gotten some good reviews at the time because it was telling better stories than the parent show. However, the UFO sealed its fate. At the time of the wrap, they were anticipating a third season. There was no real conclusion to the series. Jeff and Fallon's story was wrapped up because a contract clause. There were only hints in Dynasty's last couple seasons as to the characters' fates.

A third season could have given the show some momentum and continued to grow upon the better story archs it had begun with Dynasty in decline though it was all crew to the lifeboats Dynasty was imploding.
