Okay, they gave Bree and Linette different sides this week.

It wasn't all that funny, with Bree in the cemetary, urging her way towards a Kimberly Shaw, then walking off before it could get any worse. She was getting out of character when she threw the ring in the ground, but it was on account of the note, and her believing he knew he was poinsoned...I don't think he wrote it like that. He was sorry for the affair. HOW DUMB ARE THE WRITERS. How did he know he was poisoned? WTF? Did I miss something?

Linette and her boss were not great either. Her boss is not fun at all. She seems depressed and lame, and got out of her character for once, but Linette really got out of hers, which wasn't bad. I actually liked Linette for making her boss more outgoing, but then she got outgoing, then just walked over to her at the table and didn't feel that bad for her that she wasn't the center of attention. That is not like Linette at all.

I do not like the guy in the basement. They shoulda used a better actor. He seems as if he is going to die or get arrested or run away. TRUST ME, he won't be with us for long. He doesn't look like he would fit in with the show at all.

Eddie hardly got that much airtime, as usual.

Susan and her stocks/$$$? I didn't understand this story, but I liked the guy who played the stock broker/$$$ guy LOL!. He is a good actor, but I didn't understand the story that much.

Gabrielle and Carlos were just plain "Lame".

This is not a nighttiem soap. This is turning into crap. It's still a dramedy, yeah, but it is not that funny, nor is it that dramatic to me anymore. Last season was a lot better. Things were always suspenseful with Zach/Paul, and now it's just crap. The ending even wasn't that powerful, with Paul, I think, opening the mail with a knife? What kinda crap is that? This show is becoming shark bait, totally.

Good thing about this episode were that they focused on the adults. They shoulda had the kids a little, just in the background, but I didn't see them. Plus this cast is HUGE. Not everyone is going to be on every episode. Doug Savant didn't appear till the final scene, if I remember correctly.

Final thoughts:

So Paul is back. That's nice. It wasn't that suspenseful, and we all expected it, since he was still alive back at the end of last season, and the mail had magically dissappeared. Opening the mail with the knife was neither funny, not dramatic at all. It was plain dull and boring. I definitly know this show will finish a full season, but right now it doesn't look that great from here. It will probably get renewed for a 3rd season, don't get me wrong, but it's not the same show anymore. I expected it to be great this season.

Interestingly, I'm finally enjoying Desperate Housewives. I think I had to go with a "This isn't your typical nightime soap" attitude to enjoy it. The show is so funny and once you stop trying to compare and relate it to other shows liKe Melrose Place or Dynasty, you don't get to enjoy it.

I'm enjoying Alfre Woodward Storyline, and her son (He's just perfect to look at). It wouldn't surprise me if he and Eddie get it together.

WHat distinguishes the characters from your typical soap one are the humourous aspect. For instance Eddie is a much more comical character than a dramatic one like Abby was. She was so funny with her broken foot at the funeral.

Gabrielle's storyline is the only one I don't enjoy. Just dump your husband. Although the group session was funny in the jail and that lawyer is such a cutie too.

Mark, let me clarify some confusing issues. Susan's agent used her money for fraudulent activities, So she decided not to renew his contract but agree to be his friend.

The only reason why Lynette got all wild and crazy at the bar is so she wouldn't have to go bar-hopping everynight with her boss. The only reason why her boss wanted Lynette to go out was because Lynette was a married woman so she wouldn't be competiting for guys and attention. Lynette didn't have the courage to say no to bar hopping to her boss, so Lynette got all crazy at the bar and took the attention away from her boss. Her boss would then stop going with her.

The actor playing the guy in the basement is actually a great actor, he isn't that bad, he only looked bad. He's probably going to stay the whole season, this is what I read. http://tv.yahoo.com/news/ap/20051024/113015634000.html. I get the feeling that he's Betty's other son. The only thing I fear is that they would do like on Dynasty, bring a character, write a storyline then put it back burner once they finish with the applewhite family. But again, Alfre Woodward being a known commodity would end up leaving if she starts having no storylines.

I'm only disappointed that I won't get to see Andrew, he was sent away. From what I read, he was quite a wild boy last season.

I look at the show more as a comedy than drama. it's fun, itls. I didn't watch the first season. I like how the ongoing storylines (Gabrielle and her hubby, Susan and Zach, Bree dealing her husband's death) work with self contained storylines like Lynette and her boss bar hopping.

By the way I can't stand Bree's boyfriend, wasn't he the one who poisoned rex????

Is it me or does Doug Savant looks so much hotter than when he wasn on MP?

I'm not ready to say DH has jumped the shark at all. I think viewing the show through the lens of genre (comedy, drama, or both) is restricting. Also, one could argue that Bree and Lynette were NOT out of character in last night's epi--unpredictable maybe, but not necessarily out of character.

Yes you missed something.
Last ep of last season, Rex's doctor told him that he might be poison. And they came up with the conclusion that Bree did it. So Rex looked over the reports and his last scene was writing the note.

Anyway, i thought last night was a much improve show over the last few two. I felt there was more going on. Adn the show was moving forward and not standing still.

I liked seeing Edie more in the mix, but wish she had her own storyline. What was the point of giving her an on-contract boyfriend if he's never on? That's a waste of Richard Burgi's talents.

This is my main problem with the show, they keep adding on new characters and don't use the ones they already have! The cast is HUGE, it's ridiculous. This week they added Susan's book agent who had nothing to do with her storyline and last week Gabrielle got an unnessacary new love interest. Focus on what you already have for heavens sake!

Another thing that REALLY bugged me were the Lynette scenes. As a huge Sports Night fan, I can definitely say that was a HUGE rip off of something Dana, Huffman's SN character, was known to do. I know Marc Cherry is a fan of the show, but damn, don't copy something with the SAME actress.

This week, the only thing I really enjoyed was Bree's story, for the first time since Rex died. I thought Marcia did a great job this week and I also loved seeing the Housewives together again.

Hopefully once they start airing the episodes filmed after the backlash, the show gets much better.

Yeah, I look at is as more of a Drama, due to the fact that actors I know were in dramas. But it is both. But it still has drama in it, and comedy. Both. But I don't know why it was better last season. This season is not going well so far, since I am getting depresed with all these new characters, and things keep changing and never closing up and they should, because stories don't take this long on a drama. If it was a comedy, stories would close up in hat episode. That's why I kind of think of it more as a drama. Stories last and don't end.

All I can say is they need to arrest and kill off several characters, and fast. Let some actors go before mid-season. Maybe have a 2hr episode or something, and cut the cast down. A lot of people keep saying there are too many.

This week's episode wasnt that great...some great stuff but something was missing that just ruined it...I still havent been able to put my finger on it...I guess it was just the combo of not so hot writing, over-acting, under-acting, out-of-character decisions and lines, etc.

It looked like he was using a letter opener to me.
