THE homes in TV's most famous cul-de-sac are going up for sale - for real.

And fans of ex-Channel 4 soap Brookside are expected to snap up the six star buys despite their grisly screen histories.

All 13 houses in the Close will cost around £250,000 apiece - though seven were used for offices, make-up and wardrobe.

So the half-dozen seen in the series that ended in 2003 after 21 years will be top targets.

Bought for £25,000 each in 1982 by Mersey TV, the Liverpool "des res" have had 35 deaths.

At the show's 1995 peak, nine million saw abused Mandy Jordache murder husband Trevor and get daughter Beth to help her bury him under their patio.

Other storylines included incest, drugs and lesbian love.

But estate agents GVA Grimley said: "That won't put people off. It's a unique sale as buyers get a scroll of the characters who lived in their home."

This is the website for the Estate Agents http://www.gvagrimley.co.uk/index.xml , can anyone find the Brookie houses on there?

But imagine living in a soap house. How cool would that be, it would be like moving into Corrie or somewhere. How surreal. I would love it.

They could make a reality docu-soap 'Life after Brookside'!

I think at one point some of the houses were still being used as sets for Hollyoaks.

Apparently, when Darlene, Betty & the guy who runs the Gym were living next door to Steph, Johnno, Debbie, Jake & that lot, those scenes were actually filmed in houses on Brookside close.

The "real life" sale of these houses would explain a couple of "recent" storylines in Hollyoaks: namely, that Betty and the guy who runs the gym have recently moved house and also why Jake's mum & her offspring are now living in Jack's pub!

Wouldn't the houses have to have a lot of work done inside to make them "livable". I'm currently reading a book on BROOKSIDE and apparently the houses have had walls knocked down to accommodate the cameras etc.

The BROOKSIDE houses might end up being a real money pit for prospective buyers.

By the way, Pamela, I love your avatar! "Oh, Geoffrey!"

Yes, I've thought that before. They should just bung a cross section of real people into the houses ("the haves, the Habitats and the have nots," as the original residents were once described) and film them for twenty years.

Just don't let Davina McCall anywhere near them.

Nowadays, it could be 'The Aspirational, The Ikeans, and The Inspirational'.

I of course, would be in the last catagory!!

Not only has Brookside Close been sold, Phil Redmond has also sold Mersey TV to All3Media for £35 million.

That puts paid to any rumours that BROOKSIDE might be brought back then.

Are the houses still on the market, or have they been sold?

Are you able to find them on the internet?

In fact, All3Media was set up and is run by Ex Granada TV top brass; principally David Liddiment and Steve Morrison.

Carolyn Reynolds, formerly the executive in charge of production on both Coronation Street and Families has been appointed head of drama programming by the company.

The whole close is up as a job lot, the houses are not for sale individually, I emailed the agent selling them for this info. It is being sold as a development opportunity.
