Another short-lived 80's soap to remember:

BARE ESSENCE was set in the perfume industry and starred Genie Francis, former star of the daytime soap, GENERAL HOSPITAL. Linda Evans and Donna Mills both appeared in the pilot, but not the series.

Plenty of familiar faces turned up in the one season only show:

Al Corley, Jonathan Frakes, Wendy Fulton, Michael Nader, Ian McShane, Jennifer O'Neill and Jessica "Play Misty For Me" Walter.

Actually, it started off as a mini-series that was pretty good. I watched it, but haven't seen it since it originally aired. Genie Francis played Tiger Hayes... I think that was her character's name. Linda Evans was her mother.

When it became a series, Jennifer O'Neill took over the role of Tiger's mother. The series always seemed like something was missing. At one time it was reported in the rags that the actors on Bare Essence were directed to watch Dynasty so they could learn how to deliver campy lines.

It didn't last long as a series, but it was a good idea. I think the writing wasn't quite as edgey as Dallas or Dynasty, and with so many primetime soaps popping up, there were many that never found an audience.

I loved Bare Essence! I really want it to be put on DVD but I don't know if that's going to happen. It would be great though since I rarely get to see Genie anymore, who is my all time favorite actress, since she left GH.

I caught the miniseries on WE once, and I really really loved it! It was good, campy fun.
