1. Season 2: Overall, the season that has so many great stories (Jane/Micheal/Sydney/Kimberly saga, Amanda in two triangles - Billy/Alison & Jake/Jo) and some great bad guys in Keith and Reed. The characters actions make sense and most stories are character driven.
Con: Matt's greencard story.....
2. Season 3: The pace is faster but the characters actions still make sense and stories are good (Jo's baby drama, Kimberly's insanity, Alison's rise and fall at D&D).
Con: Amanda's cancer (couldn't she have had an unnamed illness)
3. Season 5: Back to the basics! The stories are more logical and Taylor and Kyle add some freshness....overall this is a good season
Con: well, having to watch some mismatched couples and stories from the previous season!
4. Season 1: Sure the show is trying to find itself but the 2nd half is quite good and it is fun to watch the show evolve.
Con: The first episodes that are self contained and the show trying too hard to teach us lessons in life
5. Season 4: this season is a mixed bax as the 1st half is still great Melrose drama
Con: but the 2nd half is well, fun, but nothing makes much sense.
6. Season 7: The finial season has some great moments and Eve was a great character....also, Lexi was better as a bitch
Con: Matt wrote in his diary about Amanda....they were not really friends
7. Season 6: Um, Taylor was fun to watch....
Con: Ugh...where to start, way too many newbies, that Nick/Christine mess, Jennifer was not used well.....
What do others think??????

yeah, the only one watchable in season 6 are taylor.
Melrose Place worked because of the chemistry cast, from season 3-5, the same characters pretty much run the show. That's why season 4 is watchable, the plots are bad, but you still have Sydney, Kim, Amanda.
You're right, Season 5 is a very bright season, a well done season. The new characters add freshness to the show.
But by the time Kimberley dies, it really is the beginning of the end.
The season finale is awesome but sad at the same time, you'll never see those characters again.

Season 6 was absolutely pathetic! Nothing worse then stale "trash", at least when the show was boring in season 1 it was trying to be an earnest drama, not a trashy nighttime soap like in season 6. Here are my favorite to least favorite season picks:
1. Season 3: It does not get much better, then this from the season operner to the "explosive" finale, Melrose at it's best!!! Alision confronts her abusive father, Kimberly steals Jo's baby, Sydney is carted off straight-jacket and all to the loony bin, Alison and Amanda's legendey D&D power fights. Matt reueninted with Jeffrey, Kimberly goes to boot camp, and the apperance of Henry, what's not to love?
2. Season 4: I actually love this season, becasue by now the show if so far gone from reality that the writers don't even try to make sense of the drama!!! Brooke's fall from grace, and her eventual death in the pool (great scene, classic MP), Alison and Hayley's surprise 2 episode marraige, Sydney the funny receptionist with a flair for 60's fashions, evil Jane punchin out Jo and plotting against Richard (oh yeah she was paralyzed for like 2 episodes too!), The Jane and Sydney "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" homage, and last but not least absolutely anything to do With Kimberly! Marcia Cross definitely establishes herself as the true star of Melrose Place (sorry, Locklear), from multiple personalities, to become a psychiatrist, to being kidnapped by a rapist/psychopath she can and will do it all, no matter how campy!
3. Season 2: the last season where the plots, for the most part, actually made sense and can conceivebly happen in real life. I loved Jo's ordeal with Reed, Keith stalking Alison, The Amanda and Jake hookup (they had chemistry), and of course Sydney blackmailing Michael into marraige and the biggest shocker of 90's TV, Kimberly coming back from the dead and revealing that nasty scar! On a side note, the scene where Sydney is attacked by a group of tough talking hookers still makes me laugh everytime I see it, it's such camp!!!
4. Season 5: fun, but you can tell that the show is beginning to lose it, it's the first season where the show is not as over the top as the one that preceded it, so Melrose can no longer provied that "shock value" that we all crave. New characters like Taylor and Kyle work, why the others just don't! The departure of fan favorites throughout the season also hurts the stories, as does the "what were they thinking?: Alison and Jake hookup. Still the more human interest stories (Matt and Chelsea, Kimberly dying of a brain tumor, Alison's miscarriage) gave the show a nice balance with the grade B sleaze that fans come to expect. The 2 hour season finale "who's afraid of Amanda Woodward", was one of the series best episodes, and last really great one, to bad a certain beloved character had to die, on her wedding day no less!!!
It's followed by season 7, season 1, and the bottom of the barrel season 6. I'll get more into these less interesting seasons in another post!

1st- Season 4 is the best. The fasted-paced season of them all
2nd- Season 3 is 2nd. Pace is a little slower, since it really picks up by last few episodes of season.
3rd- Season 2. Pace is still kinda slow, but really, really picks up around the time Kimberly is in the accident/ Jo shoots reed.
4th- Season 7. It was really fast-paced as well, but slower than season 4's pace. Lotsa funny Michael.
5th- Season 5. I dunno, It got weak this season. All the old characters were still there, but they weren't like they used to be, and one by one they left...Jane, Kimberly, then Jake and Alison. Still, some fast-pace, but it was less hars as seasons 2, 3 and 4.
The 6th season was the worst. Season 1 was starting out, so I don't include season 1 to be included in this rating, since it doesn't compare to the rest of the series. Season 6, alothough still tries to do some weird stuff like the Christine Plot and Michael's funny sayings and stuff like that, it has to be the worst season, ever. EVER. EVER.

1. Season 2 - This is when the show won me over. Even season 3 can't top this. The storylines worked and the characters became interesting.
2. Season 5 - LOVED this season. We get some new characters including Taylor who's the best one of all, IMO. The storylines were more like the early years and Kimberley's exit was perfect.
3. Season 7 - They made the cast smaller and it worked here. The show was more dark, storylines more serious. The only downfall was the exit of Lisa Rinna, this would've been awesome with her and maybe spare us Eve...
4. Season 3 - We have lots of good Jo and Kimberley action here. Daphne Zuniga and Marcia Cross are amazing actresses who are both generally overlooked. They really pulled this season together.
5. Season 6 - Many don't like it, but I loved it. I prefer years 5-7 myself. Every character is on the frontburner which causes some confusion and the cast is much bigger, but i enjoyed most of what went on here. Taylor's pregnancy was a classic.

It is interesting how some viewers love season 4 and others don't.
Regarding season 5, I remember reading somewhere that the writers and producers were making an effort to make the show less crazy. I think they did a good job with that, but it was odd how they could not continue with that into season 6. Maybe this was because so many actors left.....
Season 6 was absolutely pathetic! Nothing worse then stale "trash",
Very true.

I think Season 6 and 4 were terrible and completely unbelievable. Same with Jane's storylines in Season 5.
I think Season 1-3 and 5 were the best seasons. Kyle and Sydney, and Alison and Jake are great couples the show has had(besides Jo and Jake).

I cant stand the character of eve. And Jane as a psyco stalking jake and allison who are a bad couple anyway. Amanda marrying peter after all he did to her dosent make much sence. Any story with sydney is great! The first time around I was a big Billy fan, but now I think he is rather flaky and self centered, But I liked it everytime he conected with Amanda, It was realistic to me. Kyle and Taylor , Im not sure yet.

I just started watching MP last week and I really like it. I wish I knew the names and the histories, but I am sure I will catch on. I still love Knot's best though. I see that my abby is coming on to MP in the upcoming episodes.... YES!

I guess this can explain for it, Jane's actions in season four and five. Donna Mills is her mother.

Well if you're not a fan, then why did you even bother to post in this thread in the first place? You don't see Melrose fans barging into 90210 threads, making completely inane and pointless comments about how the show sucks and how they don't like it. There's just no need for it, if you don't like something then stay away from the threads and leave the people who do to get on with their discussion.
Anyway, my personal favourite seasons are three and four because they were ruled by Kimberly, Michael, Sydney, Amanda, and Peter - my favourite characters. The worst season is season six, no question.

Well, today I'll rank them (changes all the time though):
1. Season 3 - the best season, no doubt. Total madness, but still logical in context.
2. Season 4 - a lot just doesn't make sense, but it was still a fun season.
3. Season 7 - I like the intimate feel of this season! I really thought the show got back on track, even if it was very unneccesary to butcher Amanda's history like that.
4. Season 2 - still a bit slow, but has a lot of the classic moments that one associates with Melrose - Sydney's marriage with Michael, Kim's "wiggin' out", Jo shooting Reed...
5. Season 5 - a bit 'meh'. Some good stuff in there, but some things (like all of Jane's storylines/Alison and Jake/Samantha and Billy/Jennifer: the Sydney clone) are just lame.
6. Season 1 - a bit boring at the start, but enjoyable if you know how later seasons are going to turn out...
7. Season 6 - yeah, the worst season by far! Awful new characters like Samantha, Craig, Coop and Lexi (poor Jamie Luner was wasted this season!) taking over the show, storylines that doesn't make sense (was Coop good or evil? Did he just use Megan? We'll never know, because the writers didn't bother explaining it!), extreme character assassination... the only good thing about this season is honestly Taylor.

My ranking:
- Season 3: totally insane but, as said Tommie, still logical. A shameful entertainment, but a good one!
- Season 4: A incredible amount of debilities. But wonderfully enjoyable at the 3rd degree.
- Season 2: less insane than the previous ones but less funny too.
- Season 5: new interesting characters but too much at the same time which lead to the "sacrifice" of the development of some old characters. Less "shock value" but still a lot of insanities like Kimberley's exit which is one of the most RIDICULOUS thing Marcia Cross had to play (I have a tumor, no I haven't, yes I have one, oops I got killed - again? - in a car crash so I won't have the time to die of my tumor...)
EX AEQUO: seasons 6 and 7
- Season 6: Thanks to Taylor and Amanda, it was still a little bit funny. But the departures of the majority of the cast made it often dull. The new characters are incredibly wasted.
- Season 7: boring, less stupid but not enjoyable at all, and whith any sense of logic (are we supposed to swallow that Amanda and Eve have the same age???). Jamie Luner fortunately saved it for a total disastre but she was poorly used.
- Season 1: COMPLETELY BORING until the arrival of Amanda. Thanks dear Heather!

Here's my ranking :
1) Season 3 - By far the most enjoyable season ! Awesome stuff - Sydney joining the cult, Jo VS. Kimberly, the Vegas episode where Michael and Kim get hitched, the introduction of Peter and Brooke, the awesome Jasmine Guy as Caitlin (definitely one of the best guest stars in the whole show) and of course, the unforgettable season finale !
2) Season 4 - Loved the season premiere with the explosion, Amanda's past coming back to haunt her, Brooke's death, the hilarious Burns-Mancini trio of Michael, Sydney and Peter working together, Kimberly's split personality disorder, the whole Jake/Jo/Richard/Jane/Michael/Sydney/Bobby/Amanda/Peter/Alycia entangled love triangles mess and this season is the second half of Season 4 (after Brooke's death) is the only point in the show where the opening credits featured all the most important characters of the show (Jane, Michael, Kimberly, Sydney, Matt, Jake, Billy, Alison, Peter, Jo and Amanda).
3) Season 2 - One of my favorite episodes in the whole show is the Christmas episode from this season, when Matt has to tell goodbye to Nikki (played by the adorable Mara Wilson) and Sydney goes to confess herself on Christmas Eve. Other highlights include the Jo/Reed storyline, Sydney blackmailing Michael into marrying her ("Love, Mancini Style", the episode where he repeatedly tries to kill her on their honeymoon, is one of the funniest episodes ever), Kimberly's return from the dead, and it had the best couples : Jake and Jo, Billy and Alison, Michael and Kimberly, Michael and Sydney...
4) Season 5 - Not as good as the previous seasons, but still pretty enjoyable. I know this is an unpopular opinion but I loved Sydney's boyfriend Carter, I thought they were really cute together. Let's not forget Donna Mills, my favorite actress from Knots Landing, stops by to play Jane's natural mother and gets to share scenes with Laura Leighton (my favorite MP actress), the lovely Kelly Rutherford enters the show as Megan who will quickly become one of my favorite characters. On the downside, this season features the only ever recasting of an adult character (a process which I absolutely can't stand, as it ruins any kind of credibility, even though I know MP was never very credible to begin with) in MP history as the role of Colleen Patterson, played by Beth Toussaint in Season 1, is taken over by Stacy Haiduk, characters like Craig, Taylor and Lisa Rinna's lips who deserve their own opening credit are MAJOR pains in the ass, Sydney is isolated from the group of characters in which she worked best (Michael, Kimberly, Peter, Amanda) and most of the show's over-the-top-ness is gone. Oh, and I hated Nick with the fire of a thousand suns.
5) Season 7 - I like Eve but I also have trouble believing she and Amanda are the same age. For God's sake, Rena Sofer is 7 years younger than Heather Locklear. I like Rena just fine as an actress and she was AWESOME at the fake singing (if I didn't know from an interview of hers that it wasn't her singing, I would think it was) but they should have hired someone Heather's age to make that storyline more believable. I don't see why they had to kill Matt off to start this storyline either. His death is pretty pointless to me. Couldn't Eve just have shown up on Amanda's doorstep without it having to be connected to some story in Matt's diary ? And why would Amanda tell Matt all about it when she hopelessly tried to hide it from Kyle ? Couldn't she lie to him as to why she was at the women's prison where he saw her ? Lexi was awesome this season and managed to beat Amanda to the ground, eventually buying Melrose and forcing her to sell AWA. Glad that Jane was back, but thought it was cheesy that she ended up with Kyle just because Josie Bissett and Rob Estes were a couple offscreen.
6) Season 1 - The show does take its time to find its identity and is saved by the introduction of its three best female characters, Kimberly, Sydney and Amanda. Sandy and Rhonda were likeable but sadly misused. And I could have done without having the show being spun off from 90210. Alison is a very enjoyable character though. I know most people dislike her but if it wasn't for her drinking problem, I think she'd make an awesome girlfriend.
7) Season 6 - By far the show's lowest point. Atrocious ! Jennifer is a miserable attempt at replacing Sydney, and that function falls back on Taylor, who becomes absolutely hilarious in her pursuit of Kyle and her attempts to get pregnant. Craig is more unlikeable than ever and his death is a relief. Coop is one of the worst characters ever and they had the nerve to have my sweet little Megan hook up with him, although she and Michael were awesome together. Lexi is clearly meant to replace Kimberly, her pill addiction /suicidal tendencies replacing Kim's madness but is handicapped by boring storylines such as the car accident with Bob Matthews. The whole Jeff/Samantha/Billy/Jennifer quadrangle is a pure fiasco as is Nick's return (could never stand him) and the whole Christine/Tiffany thing - sad to see the talented Susan Walters wasted on such a lame storyline. Other awful characters include "Connie the evil lesbian" and her VERY predictable storyline, Eric Baines and his obsession of getting Amanda in bed at all costs and last but not least Rory Blake !

I had totally forgotten about Connie: the evil lesbian!
God, that was just bad.
