Update 11/01 "finding my way back" jr/se/nick

This is a new fanfic, which I have no business starting considering my other two aren’t finished, but I can’t get this out of my head. I'm not sure of the title, so if anyone has any ideas, let me know.

This is set in 1989. Sue Ellen and Nick are together. Sue Ellen left JR and got custody of John Ross. Valentine Lingerie is very successful. JR is running JRE and head of West Star, but he never slept with Kimberly. He did make her think he was going to just so he could get what he wanted, so he used her. He wants Sue Ellen back, but she doesn’t know it. Sue Ellen knows JR didn’t sleep with Kimberly because Kimberly told her why JR did what he did. JR doesn’t know that she knows. He thinks if he can get her alone, he’ll be able to explain everyting.

JR is at the Oil Baron’s Club, drinking at the bar. He’s had a few, when Sue Ellen and Nick come in for dinner. JR stares at her. She is in a cream colored skirt that falls just above her knee. She is wearing a maroon blouse with a jacket that matches the skirt, with maroon heels.

“Christ she is beautiful. You really screwed up this time Ewing.”

Sue Ellen catches JR’s eyes and her heart immediately starts beating faster. “Christ, when will that ever stop? I can’t believe I’m still that attracted to him after everything we’ve done to each other. It was insane. Thank God I’ve been able to avoid being alone with him.”

Nothing ever seems the same
when you're alone and all you've got in memories (memories of you each and every hour)
I remember all the cards and all those little letters you would to send me.
My friends all say it's such a shame that you and I ever had to fall apart.
The things we do (just us two) I can't do alone here with my lonely heart.

JR holds Sue Ellen’s gaze. He hardens instantly. “Jesus, I want her. I can see she wants me too. If I could just explain everything? I just needed some time alone with her, where she can’t run away from me.”

And there are times when I feel especially sad,
its when i think about all the things that we had.
The special time we had when we were together,
you know I wish it would last forever.

Sue Ellen looks away when Nick calls her name. “Let’s dance before our dinner comes.”

Nick stands up and takes Sue Ellen’s hand. They move to the dance floor and he puts his arms around her waist. He hands go around his shoulders and slide down to his mid-back. JR’s face hardens with anger. He can’t stand to see another man’s hands on Sue Ellen.

Nick pulls Sue Ellen closer breathing in her scent. “You smell so good. I love you, Sue Ellen.”

Sue Ellen smiles at him. “Me too.” They sway to the music.

JR catches her eye again and smiles at her sadly. Sue Ellen’s heart breaks at his sad smile, but another part of her is still angry.

Sue Ellen holds on to Nick, trying to forget how much she wants to be in JR’s arms. She cares about Nck, but it wasn’t the same.

JR orders another drink. Sue Ellen watches him, wishing things could have been different.

Sue Ellen tightens her hold on Nick, trying to forget. But every time she closes her eyes she sees JR. JR stands up and walks to the door, but pauses as he turns around. Sue Ellen catches his eye one more time. He waves to her and puts his hat on.

No suggestions for title or anything --I'm just a fan of the fanfic and I like the idea that ideas are roaming free ---always room for one more I think--you just really capture all that gray area type stuff--capturing that much of the spectrum is a rare quality --I can read this for days

CHAPTER 2

JR is sitting in his office staring at a picture of him and Sue Ellen that he still keeps on his desk. They were so happy in it. JR knows it can be like that again, if she would give him a chance. He leans back and lets his mind wander back to a time when they were happy.

JR walked up the steps to the condo complex.. Hopefully Sue Ellen was already there. He missed her and called her to see if she was free for lunch. She said she was and he suggested the condo. He knew they wouldn’t be eating much food. His need for her lately was insatiable. No matter how many times he made love to her, it was like the first time every time. He got onto the elevator. She was sexier to him now then she’d ever been, and that was saying a lot. He cursed the slow elevator. He couldn’t wait to have her legs wrapped around him. He opened the door and called out her name. “Sue Ellen?”

Sue Ellen: “In the bedroom.”

JR walked into the bedroom, discarding his clothes as he went. He got to the door and stopped in his tracks. She was lying in the bed, naked. Her legs and back were exposed to him. The silk sheet covered her body strategically. He smiled at her and finished removing his clothes. He ripped the sheet from her and started a slow crawl up towards her.

We got the afternoon
You got this room for two
One thing I've left to do
Discover me
Discovering you

He slowly kissed his way up her body, causing her to moan out loud. “I missed you.”

JR smiles as he continues his way up. “I missed you too honey.” He pauses at her lips. “I love you,” and he claims her lips in a passionate clinch.

JR stretched his body out on top of Sue Ellen’s as he continued to kiss her. He spread her legs with a sweep of his foot and entered her quickly. “Damn, you feel good. I swear every time feels like the first. How do you manage to do that?” He thrusts into her at a steady pace.

Sue Ellen smiles at him. “Guess we’re just lucky.” She kisses him on his mouth and sucks on his tongue, causing JR to moan loudly. He pulls back and looks at her. He pushes a strand of hair away from her face and kisses her forehead. He places kisses on her face, neck and collarbone.

JR continues making love to his wife. JR stares into her eyes for a few moments and is overwhelmed by the love reflecting back. “Thank you for loving me. I don’t know what I ever did to deserve it, but thank you.”
Sue Ellen kisses him and JR shifts his weight a little causing her to cry out.

JR takes Sue Ellen and himself over the edge into blissful release. He stays in her for a few minutes and kisses her lips lovingly. He lies beside her and pulls her into his arms.

JR smiles at her and kisses the top of her head. “I love you honey. Probably more than you’ll ever know.”

Sue Ellen snuggles into him. “I love you too, JR.”

JR is shaken from his daydream by Sly buzzing him. “Yeah Sly?”

S: “Sue Ellen is here to see you.”

JR’s face lights up. “Well send her in.” He gets up to meet her at the door. Sue Ellen comes in and JR smiles. “Hello Darlin’.”

Sue Ellen looks at him as he tries to hug her. “Please don’t call me that.”

JR looks puzzled. “Why not?”

Sue Ellen: “Because you still use it in that greeting my wife tone. And I’m not your wife anymore.”

JR whispers softly and sadly, “I know.”

Sue Ellen sits in the chair in front of his desk and he sits next to her. “I have to go to Miami on business for a few days, and I was hoping you could watch John Ross for me.”

JR: “Sure. That’s no problem. You and Nick planning some more openings in Miami?”

Sue Ellen: “Nick isn’t going. I have a few stores there I need to check on.” She is quiet for a moment. “I saw you last night at the bar.” JR doesn’t say anything. “Was something wrong?”

JR: “Other than seeing you with Nick? No nothing was wrong.”

Sue Ellen closes her eyes for a moment. When she opens them she is staring directly into JR’s blue ones. Her breath catches in her throat. They are both mesmerized and neither says anything. JR moves slowly towards her and Sue Ellen finds herself moving forward to meet him. JR puts his hand up to her facing lovingly caressing her cheek. He pulls her face towards his. Just as he’s about to kiss her, his phone rings, breaking her out of her trance. She stands up, “I’ll drop him off tomorrow evening. My flight leaves at 7:00 pm. Thanks for watching him.” He watches her walk out the door, cursing whoever was on the other end of the phone.

CHAPTER 3

Sue Ellen and Nick drop John Ross off at South Fork and ride to the airport in the limo. JR has managed to get himself onto Sue Ellen’s private plane and watches her from the window. She steps out of the limo, as does Nick. JR panics for a second, but calms down as he sees he is just kissing her goodbye. JR thinks he’s going to be sick as he watches with morbid fascination.

Nick backs Sue Ellen up against the limo, as his hands go around her waist. “I’m gonna miss you gorgeous. Call me as soon as you land in Miami, ok?”

Sue Ellen smiles at him. “I will sweetheart. Thank you for understanding why I want John Ross at South Fork.”

Nick: “It’s ok. He’ll have a better time there anyway with Christopher. Now give me kiss lady. It better be a good one cause it has to be enough for 5 whole days.” He moves in slowly as her hands go around his neck. His lips capture hers in a passionate lip lock. Nick’s tongue pushes its way into Sue Ellen’s mouth and she almost pulls back. He pulls away and smiles, “Be safe. I love you.”

Sue Ellen smiles at him. “Me too. I’ll call you when I land.” She grabs her briefcase and walk onto the plane. Not looking back.

The plane has been up in the air for about 30 minutes. Sue Ellen can’t concentrate on the work she brought so she closes her briefcase. She leans back in the plush chair and stares out the window. Jesus, she couldn’t get JR out of her mind. Yesterday was just crazy. If that phone hadn’t rung….her thoughts go to an evening in JR’s office when they were happy.

Sue Ellen was waiting for JR to get off the phone so they could go. They had theatre tickets, even though she didn’t really want to go. She locked the door and went to stand in front of his desk. She unzipped her dress slowly and let it drop to the floor. JR’s eyebrows raised and she had caught his eye and knew that unmistakable look of pure lust. He had quickly ended his phone call.

When I think about how much I'm loving you

And the commitment that we share is a welcome sacrifice

JR stood up and started to undress. He was rock hard by the time he finally got out of his damn monkey suit. He smiled at Sue Ellen and pushed her onto the desk. He kissed her hungrily, working his way down her collarbone. He sucked greedily on her nipples, causing her to cry out his name.

JR entered her quickly filling her up fully. “Jesus, JR, you feel so good. I love you.”

JR thrusts increase in pressure and he send Sue Ellen spiraling into her release. JR waits until her body is done trembling, and he begins thrusting again.

Sue Ellen laughs out loud as she caresses her husbands face. He sits back in his chair bringing her with him. She sits in his lap and he holds on tight to her. “I love you Sue Ellen. I know I don’t show you as much as I should, but I do. I’ll love you forever.”

Sue Ellen kisses him gently. “I’ll always love you too.”

Sue Ellen rubs her hands over her face and blows a breath out. She whispers to her self, “Jesus. It’s been over a year Sue Ellen get a grip. It’s over with JR. He’ll never change. Why can’t you let yourself be happy with Nick?” She looks out the window again and is quiet for a moment. “Because he’s not JR.”

JR smiles at her from his hiding place. His heart almost leapt out of his chest. She did still love him. As long as she still loved him, that was all the chance he needed. He grinned mischievously, as Sue Ellen called up front to not be disturbed and she lay on the couch to try to take a nap.

CHAPTER 4

Sue Ellen falls asleep. JR steps out from his hiding place and sits next to the couch, staring at Sue Ellen. “I’ve got to find a way to convince you I’ve changed, that I can make you happy, and not just for one night. I can make you happy for a lifetime.”

I miss the look of surrender in your eyes
The way your soft brown hair would fall
I miss the power of your kiss when we made love

JR brushes a strand of air back from her face and she whispers his name in her sleep and smiles. “She’s dreaming about me. I know you still love me Sue Ellen. I know you do. Why won’t you listen to your heart? I miss you so much. I miss your body next to mine at night. When I came home from work and curled up next to you. I miss your clothes hanging in the closet. I miss eating breakfast with you. I even miss you yelling at me for something. Most of all I miss my best friend.”

The one who knew just what to say
To make me laugh again
And let the light back in
I miss my friend.

“You were always my best friend. You always will be. I can’t let you go, honey. I know you asked me to, but I can’t. Maybe if I wasn’t so damn selfish I could let you be happy with Nick. But I don’t think he can make you happy. You belong at South Fork. You always have and you always will.”

I miss the colors that you brought into my life

And I miss your gentle voice in lonely times like now

JR kisses her forehead and smiles when she whispers his name again. He sits back and watches her sleep, occasionally touching her face.

Sue Ellen starts to wake up and JR quickly goes back to his hiding place. When Sue Ellen awakens, she swears she could feel JR’s caresses still on her skin. “Lord, Sue Ellen you need to get him out of your mind.”

JR smiles from his hiding place and whispers her name to himself in the dark.

CHAPTER 5

The plane lands and the limo takes Sue Ellen to her beach house that she bought in Miami. JR gets into the limo he had waiting and arrives at her house a few moments later. Sue Ellen takes a shower and changes into a negligee. She walks out onto her deck and stands, looking out at the ocean. Her thoughts drift to JR.

I thought it was over, baby
We said our goodbyes
But I can't go a day without your face
Goin' through my mind

In fact, not a single minute

She whispers his name as he stands on the side of her house watching her. She whispers to herself, “God, why can’t I forget him? Please, let me forget him, let me move on.”

JR steps around the corner and leans against the house, his Stetson is on his head and he puts a hand in his pocket and the other holds a yellow rose. “Hello Darlin’.”

Sue Ellen doesn’t turn around at first. She grabs the railing in front of her. JR walks up behind her, standing so close to her she can feel his breath on the back of her neck. He puts his hands on the railing, pinning Sue Ellen in, but not touching her.

She can hardly breathe. “JR”

She turns around and their faces are inches apart. He hands her the rose and she takes it. “I want you to listen to me. Don’t say anything until I’m finished. I love you Sue Ellen. I love you more than I ever knew. I screwed up and for that I’m truly sorry. I remember every tear you cried because of me. It tears my heart into pieces. Sue Ellen, I swear on my daddy’s grave, if you give us another chance, I’ll be the husband you deserve. I will never hurt you again. I know you think Ewing Oil was always the most important thing to me, and for a long time it was. Then you walked away from me, for good. I saw you running your company, living with Nicholas, and for the first time I knew you would never need me again. That scared me. It really scared me because it was that moment I realized, you would never come back to me. And it’s haunted me every night since the night you left. That night you saw me at the bar? I had just closed a huge deal, the biggest deal in the history of the oil business. And you know what? It didn’t mean a damn thing, because I didn’t have you to come home with and share my news.”

JR brushes a strand of hair behind her ear and gently touches her cheek. Sue Ellen shivers involuntarily. “Are you cold?”

Sue Ellen whispers “No.”

JR: “I know I hurt you and I’d give up everything I own if I could go back and live our life over again. But I can’t. I can’t promise you that we’ll never fight. We’re both to stubborn to never disagree about something.” She smiles a little.

Once it was easy

I never had to tell a lie
Never thought I'd see you cry
But now I know better

Sue Ellen whispers to him. “If you really loved me, you would let me go.”

JR: “See, I don’t believe that. I do love you, but I can’t let you go. I can’t let you go because I love you. Maybe if I really thought Pearce could make you happy, I might let you go. But I don’t think he can. Answer me honestly, do you ever think about me?”

Sue Ellen closes her eyes. “Yes.”

But I can't hide
From all these dreams

Now, it's going to take awhile
But I've got to learn to smile again

JR: “You fill my mind every waking minute and you're in every dream. I can’t live without you in my life. Can we try again? Please. We’ll move as slow as you want or as fast as you want.”

Sue Ellen looks up into his eyes as a tear escapes her eye. Her heart wanted to say yes. Her body missed his touch. She starts to move forward, leaning into him when the phone rings, breaking the moment. JR curses the phone silently.

She picks up the phone which was lying next to her. She picks it up. “Hello……Hello Nicholas.”

JR hangs his head almost in defeat.

CHAPTER 6

Sue Ellen walks away but JR can still hear her conversation.

JR faces the ocean with his hands on the railing. He knows he almost had her. A tear rolls down his cheek, thinking that he’s lost her.

Sue Ellen hangs up and walks over to him. She touches his shoulder and he turns around. She gasps when she sees his tear stained cheeks.
She whispers: “You’re crying.” She slowly reaches up to brush his them away and he grabs her wrist.

JR: “Don’t. I can’t have you touch me like you love me and then tell me to leave.”

Sue Ellen caresses his face with her other hand. “I wasn’t going to tell you to leave.”

Sue Ellen smiles softly. It amazed her how JR’s tears cleansed her soul of the anger she felt towards him. She had never seen him cry, never. Whispering, “I’m scared.”

JR sits her down and slowly takes her robe off. Sue Ellen slides his jacket off of him and onto the floor. He brushes his fingers up and down her arm lightly. He slowly peels the straps of her nightgown from her shoulders.

Sue Ellen unbuttons his shirt, trembling with passion. JR helps her and rips his shirt off, flinging it across the room.

Sue Ellen puts her arms around JR and kisses him passionately. She caresses his chest, lightly brushing his nipples, causing him to inhale sharply. She traces a path down to his belt and quickly gets him out of his pants.

The sun shines into the window and wake JR up. He reaches for Sue Ellen, but she isn’t there. He sits up quickly looking around for her, but doesn’t find her. He quickly puts his pants on and walks through the house calling her name. Sue Ellen doesn’t answer. JR starts to panic, thinking she left, thinking she may think last night was a mistake. He walks onto the deck.

JR looks out across the beach and spots Sue Ellen running up the beach. JR sighs in relief. She waves to him and he waves back.

JR smiles sheepishly. “I didn’t check the kitchen… When did you start running?”

Sue Ellen: “After you and I got divorced. It helps clear my head, gives me time to think.” She pulls him toward the kitchen. “Come on Ewing, I’ll make you breakfast and then I need to take a shower. I have a meeting at 1:00.”

JR gets a serious, “I’d endure anything to get you back.”

Sue Ellen smiles lovingly at him. “Well I have a few hours left before I need to leave. I’m going to take a shower.” She kisses his cheek and puts the dishes in the sink.

JR smiles and grabs her lips in a passionate clinch. “3 hours huh?”, he whispers against her lips.

She shakes her head yes. JR picks her up and falls back on the bed taking her with him.

CHAPTER 8

JR walks Sue Ellen out to her limo. He is in his pants and a buttoned down shirt that is unbuttoned. He pulls her close. “Have a good day, honey.”

Sue Ellen kisses him. “What will you do with your time?”

JR smiles at her. “First I’m going shopping. I don’t have any clothes. Then I’m going to have dinner waiting for you when you get home, but I won’t cook it.”

Sue Ellen laughs. “I’ll see you later.” She gets in and the limo drives away and JR walks back into the house. Neither notices the paparazzi snapping pictures of them.

JR gets a shower and his limo drives him into the city and he does some shopping. He also stops to pick up an engagement ring. He wasn’t wasting another minute. If he had his way, they’d be married tonight. He asked his driver where he could find a preacher that married people quickly. JR asks the preacher to meet him at Sue Ellen’s house at sunset.

JR gets back to the house and has a romantic dinner set up on the beach. He lays out his new tux and the dress he bought for Sue Ellen.

Sue Ellen makes her way home about 2 hours before sunset. She walks in the door and there is a trail of yellow rose petals leading to the bedroom. “What is he doing?” She follows them and sees the dress with a note to get ready and meet him on the beach. She does just that and walks out to the deck. She can see JR in the distance and walks down the steps, trying to figure out why she has butterflies in her stomach.

Sue Ellen reaches JR. He asks her to dance with him. She moves into his arms, and is amazed at how much love she feels for this man. She silently asks God to let things work this time.

JR’s arms encircle her waist and he breathes in her scent. JR silently begs God, “Please let her say yes. Please let her give me the chance to love her and treat like she deserves.”

I want to simply life the rest of my life by your side as your husband, your lover, and your best friend. Will you marry me?”

Sue Ellen looks at him with tears in her eyes. She had never heard those words spoken from JR like that. Her heart wanted to say yes, but she was still scared.

JR looked up at her expectantly, fighting to hold back his own tears, but not winning. For the second time in Sue Ellen’s memory, JR cried. She knelt in front of him and wiped his tear and quietly whispered, “Yes.” They held each other close just enjoying up the moment

They walk to where the preacher is standing and have a simple ceremony. Sue Ellen couldn’t believe she was about to marry JR again, without any second thoughts. Not once has Nicholas crossed her mind since JR kissed her and carried her into the bedroom. They exchange vows and are pronounced husband and wife.

JR grins widely. He takes Sue Ellen’s face in his hands and kisses her lovingly. They join hands and walk up to the table JR has set for them. “Dance with your husband, Mrs. Ewing?”

Sue Ellen moves into his arms as they begin to sway.

JR pulls her a little closer and holds her a little tighter, praying all this is not a dream.

She stands up and smiles. He was already standing at attention for her. How she loved that she could still do that to him, with a few words.

Sue Ellen looks up at her husband. “So….when are we going to tell our family that you drugged me and got me to remarry you again?”

JR laughs at her. “You are so funny. I don’t know. Should we tell them over the phone or wait until we get home?”

Sue Ellen thinks for a moment. “Maybe we should wait. I think I want you all to myself for a few more days. Plus it's probably not something we should tell over the phone.”

JR smiles and kisses her. “That’s probably the best idea. Are you ready to go in?”

Sue Ellen shakes her head yes and stands up. She puts her dress back on, and JR throws on his pants. He grabs his jacket and shirt and they walk up to the house hand in hand. They go into the bedroom and take off their clothes. JR stares at Sue Ellen for a moment. The moon bathes her in a soft light. JR whispers, “You look like an angel.” Sue Ellen walks up to him and he reaches out to her.

CHAPTER 10 (<span class="ev_code_RED">ok kinda short but i'll finish the update tonight</span>)

Sue Ellen wakes up to JR’s kisses. “Good morning.”

JR smiles, “And a good morning it is. Thank you for forgiving me. It seems so inadequate, but I love you. I’ll swear I won’t mess up again.”

Sue Ellen just kisses him lightly. “I believe you. Now come on let’s get some breakfast.” Sue Ellen sets about making breakfast and JR goes out to get the paper. As he looks at the front page, he simply mutters “Shit.” The headline reads: “Marry me, again?” Below the headline is a picture of him proposing to Sue Ellen last night. Underneath that is “Business Woman of The Year, fashion mogul Sue Ellen Ewing remarries ex-husband, JR Ewing, head of Ewing Oil, in private ceremony on the beach.”

He looks up to the sky and silently curses himself for being so stupid to not even think about reporters. Sue Ellen was more famous down here then he was in Texas. He walks in and hands her the paper.

She sets her coffee on the counter and looks at the front page. “Oh my God.” At that exact moment the phone rings

JR and Sue Ellen stare at each other for what seems like an eternity. JR moves to pick it up. “NO, what if it’s Nick?”

JR gets a tad bit angry, “So what? He knows by now.”

Sue Ellen grabs the phone from him, “JR you don’t understand.” She walks to the counter and stares out the window. JR tries to calm down. He comes up behind her and puts his hands on her shoulders. “Honey, I’m sorry. I just don’t…I’m scared I’m going to lose you again.”

Sue Ellen turns around. She looks at him and sees the fear in his eyes. She puts her arms around his waist. “You’re not going to lose me, but I need to tell Nicholas in my time. I didn’t want to hurt him. God JR, do you realize that I haven’t even given him a second thought since that moment you kissed me and carried me to the bedroom? None of this is fair to him.”

JR hugs her close. “Believe it or not, Sue Ellen part of me does feel sorry for him. I know what it’s like to lose you. So we’ll do things you’re way.”

Sue Ellen and JR hold on to each other for a moment. “You need to call home so we can talk to John Ross and the rest of the family before they find out through the media.”

JR picks up the phone and calls home. “Hello Momma.”

Ms Ellie: “JR, is it true? Did you marry Sue Ellen again?”

JR: “What? Is it in the papers there too?”

Ms Ellie: “Of course it is. You are CEO of the biggest independent oil company in the US and Sue Ellen is a CEO of the worlds second most successful fashion company. Did you think it wouldn’t be in the paper?”

JR: “I wasn’t thinkin’ at all Momma. I just wanted Sue Ellen back.”

Ms Ellie: “Oh JR. Is Sue Ellen all right? Let me talk to her.”

JR hands Sue Ellen the phone. “Hello Ms Ellie.”
Ms E: “Sue Ellen, are you all right? Are you sure this is what you want?” JR points to the balcony and he walks out.

Sue Ellen: “I’m fine Ms Ellie. Ms Ellie last night, when he proposed he cried. He actually cried. I..I love him Ms Ellie, I always have and I always will. This is what I want.”
Ms Ellie smiles into the phone. “Well I can’t say I’m sorry that you’re back in the family. You belong here, you always have. We’ll be glad to welcome you back.”

Sue Ellen: “Thank you Ms Ellie. We’ll see you tomorrow. We'll talk with John Ross when we get home, so if you can try to keep it from him, we'd appreciate it.” She hangs up and walks out to the balcony. She puts her arms around him and he grabs her hands. “You ok?”

JR: “Yeah. I’m sorry. I wasn’t even thinking about the press. I should have known that down here what you do is news worthy.”

Sue Ellen smiles, “Its ok. Hey at least we made the front page, probably of every Texas and Miami newspaper.” They both laugh for a moment.

JR turns around and slides his arms around her. “I love you, Sue Ellen.”

Sue Ellen hugs him a little closer. “How about we lock out the world for one more day?”

JR leans down to kiss her and smiles against her lips. “I say absolutely.” He picks her up and carries her into the bedroom and lays her gently across the bed.

CHAPTER 12 A few hours later on Sue Ellen’s plane

JR is sitting on the sofa, while Sue Ellen lies with her head in his lap. She sighs and JR asks her what’s wrong. “Nothing, everything. Nicholas is going to be furious when he finds out.”

“So? Are you changing your mind?” JR asks worriedly.

“What? No of course I’m not changing my mind about us. JR I love you, I married you because I wanted to, but you have to admit it’s going to be tough explaining this to Nick.”

“No, it won’t. You love me and I love you. We got married, end of story. I’ll tell him if you want.” She laughs out loud, “Oh I’m sure that would make everything peachy. No, I have to tell him, I’m just not looking forward to it.” JR strokes her hair as she lies in his lap. “Everything is going to be fine. We were meant to be together honey, and I’ll do whatever I have to do to make sure we stay that way.” Sue Ellen smiles before drifting off to sleep. The plane lands and JR wakes his wife up. “Come on sleeping beauty, lets go home.”

The doors open and they exit the plane. As they walk through the terminal they are bombarded by paparazzi. Thousands of flashbulbs pop off, causing Sue Ellen to stumble back into JR’s arms. “Jesus Christ.” Bobby and Ray show up seemingly out of nowhere with some security and they finally make it out to the limo. As JR & Sue Ellen get in, the limo drives away and all four of them stare at each other for a moment. Ray breaks the ice, “Well, welcome home and congratulations.” They all laugh and talk about the craziness that they created, as they ride home. “I’ll tell you something, you do sure know how to keep this family from boredom. I can’t say I’m sorry you married this fool again though. We missed you Sue Ellen.” Sue Ellen smiles at Bobby, “Thank you Bobby. I missed all of you too.” Nick watches the spectacle from his house as he drinks straight from the bottle, cursing both JR & Sue Ellen.

Pulling into the driveway, Sue Ellen took a deep breath. She got out of the car and was greeted by John Ross, “Momma, is it true? Are we a family again?” She picks him up as JR steps out of the limo and takes him from her. He holds him with one arm and pulls her close with the other. “That’s right son. We’re a family again. This time it’s forever.” John Ross smiles as the rest of the family congratulates them. They start to walk into the house when they hear tires squealing. They turn around as Nick gets out of his car.

CHAPTER 13 <span class="ev_code_RED">JUST FOR MITZ, so she feels better after her 72 blood transfusions</span>

JR quickly pushes Sue Ellen behind him, as Bobby stands next to JR. “Ray, take Sue Ellen in the house please.” Sue Ellen steps away from him, “I am not going in the house.”
She walks up to Nicholas before anyone can grab her. “What the hell is going on?” He grabs her arm. JR starts after them but Sue Ellen holds her hand up to him. “Nick, let me explain…” “Explain what, that you’re a slut, that you used me and the second JR Ewing wanted you, you jumped right back into his bed? I loved you, I wanted to start a life with you, but that didn’t matter to you did it? Tell me something princess, how long did it take for you to spread those pretty legs for him?” Sue Ellen slaps Nick hard across the face. He grabs her wrist and twists it causing her to cry out.

JR rushes over and pushes Nick away from Sue Ellen. She has a bruise already beginning to form on her wrist. JR’s eyes darken with anger as he turns around to face Nick. “Ray…” Ray comes over and takes Sue Ellen in the house. Bobby stands back and lets JR do his thing. Nick pulls a gun on JR. JR doesn’t even flinch. “We handle things a little different down here in Texas, boy. Now if you want to fight, hand the gun to Bobby and we’ll fight. Because I am never letting her go again.” He starts to turn away, but turns back to Nick, “Oh, just one more piece of advice, if you ever put your filthy hands on my wife again, I’ll break each of you fingers one by one, and then I’ll break each bone in your hand so you’ll never be able to use it again.” With that he takes Nick’s index finger and snaps it, causing Nick to cry. “Just so you know it wasn’t an idle threat, now get the hell off my ranch.” JR turns his back on the goomba and walks back into the house with Bobby following him. Nick drives off, furious at JR. “Oh you’ll pay for taking her away from me you sonofabitch, you’ll pay. And she will too.”

CHAPTER 14

Bobby empties the gun and puts it in his pocket. “You know that won’t be the last we see of him. How about we have a meeting after dinner in the library?” JR turns to look at him. “That’s fine. Thanks Bob.” JR goes to find his wife.

He finds her in her old bedroom in the bathroom. She is sitting on the floor, with her back up against the wall, knees bent, head resting on her forearms. JR looks at her for a moment without saying anything. She was a survivor. No matter what life threw at her, she always bounced back and landed on top. She was so strong, but sometimes, like know, JR knew how vulnerable she could be. She’d never let anyone see it except him and even then those instances were few and far between. JR sees the bruise instantly and his anger washes over him. He takes a deep breath before kneeling in front of her.

He reached behind him for the first-aid kit and cleaned the cut gently. When she winced, another jolt of rage coursed through him, but he quickly tried to bury it.

It has in the past but we agreed that it was over and we were starting fresh right? This doesn’t change anything. We are survivors. Our love has survived everything we’ve ever done to each other. Now it’s time to get it right. This love is only going to bring joy and happiness.” JR hugs her and then kisses her lovingly. “You’re right. This time I’m going to love you like you deserve.” He hugs her close again, holding her in his arms. Sue Ellen held onto him. JR loved her and he would never let Nick hurt her again, of that she was sure. She felt protected, really protected for the first time in years.

Sometime later Sue Ellen looked into JR’s eyes. JR caught the lust creeping into her beautiful brown eyes. He picked her up and carried her to the bed, laying her across it. He smiles down at her as he removes his shirt and unbuckles his pants. He unbuttons her blouse slowly and tenderly. He carefully slides it off, watchful of her wrist. JR wakes up to an empty bed. He looks over and sees the note, knowing Sue Ellen went running before he even looked at it. He reads the note, “Went running by the lake. Love you.” He quickly dresses and gets a breakfast together and drives to the lake.

He gets out of the car and watches her run for a moment. Damn she looked good. Those running shorts showed off her long lean legs and her little sports bra top showed her trim tummy. JR made a mental note that she wouldn’t be running anywhere but South Fork dressed like that. He didn’t want another man gawking at his wife. Sue Ellen spotted her husband and waved. He held up the picnic basket and walked to the lake, as Sue Ellen increased her pace to join him. He grabs her in a bear hug and kisses her. “I don’t much like waking up without you, woman. So maybe you can either go jogging later in the morning, or wake me up before you go. Ok?” She kisses him back. “Deal. I’m starved.” They sit and enjoy a picnic breakfast.

After eating, JR stretches out and lays his head in her lap. She looks down at him and kisses his forehead. “I love you.” JR smiles, “I love you too.” He is quiet for a moment. “Sue Ellen…” She cuts him off. “I know, you want me to have a bodyguard.” JR looks at her, “I know you hate them, but if yesterday was any indication of how that jackass is gonna be, I can’t leave you unprotected. Since I can’t be there with you all day…Please? Just for a little while?” Sue Ellen sighs in resignation. “Oh all right. Like I have a choice.” JR smiles and puts a hand behind her neck pulling her in for a deep kiss. “You have a choice, I can make love to you right here, or we can go home and take a shower together.” Sue Ellen smiles against his lips. “Hmmmm, let’s go with the shower. I promised John Ross we’d take him to the zoo today.” JR stands up and helps her to her feet. “Let’s go woman.” They drive home and Sue Ellen smiles at JR as they walk through the door. “Race ya..” and with that takes off up the steps rushing past Clayton. “Morning Clayon.” She calls to him as JR is fast on her heals. “Morning.” JR calls over his shoulder as he chases his wife. Clayton laughs and thinks how good it is to have Sue Ellen back at South Fork. Sue Ellen is almost to the bedroom door, when JR catches her. He throws her over his shoulder and carries her into the bedroom, both laughing out loud.

CHAPTER 17

They all have a great time at the zoo and JR and SE take John Ross out to dinner. While there, they run into Nick who is there with Marilee Stone. After dinner Sue Ellen gets up to go to the ladies room, while JR pays the check. Nick discreetly follows her. As she comes out, he backs her against the wall. “Hello sunshine.” Sue Ellen looks up at him and cringes at his beat-up face. She finds herself touching his black eye.

He closes his eyes at her touch. He touches her wrist lightly, “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt your wrist. Are you ok?” Sue Ellen smiles, “I know you didn’t mean it.” She sees his hand in a cast. “What happened?” Nick’s anger returns for a moment, “Ask your husband? He snapped my finger in half yesterday.” Sue Ellen looks at him horrified, “On purpose?” Nick smiles. “Yes on purpose. The fight was over and he picked my hand up and snapped my finger to teach me a lesson.” Sue Ellen starts to walk away but Nick slams her back against the wall. “I’m not done talking to you.” He puts his good hand around her neck, pinning her to the wall. “Why did you ruin everything? How could you do that to me, to us?” Sue Ellen can’t speak or breathe, since Nick is pushing on her larynx. JR walks out and rage crashes into him. JR’s eyes turn almost black with anger as he shoves Nick away from Sue Ellen. She slides to one knee trying to catch her breath as John Ross stands over his mother protectively. JR’s hands go around Nick’s neck and he starts to squeeze. Nick’s eyes start to roll back in his head. Security comes out from the restaurant and tries to restrain JR.

Nothing gets through to him until he hears John Ross call him, “Daddy, Momma needs you.” He abruptly lets go and kneels next to Sue Ellen who is holding her throat. Nick slides down the way and struggles to catch his breath. JR gently takes her hand away and new anger courses through him as he sees bruises forming on her neck already. “Sue Ellen, are you ok?” Sue Ellen looks at her husband and shakes her head. “Yes”, she whispers. “Let’s just go home.”

Arriving home, JR carries a sleeping John Ross upstairs as Sue Ellen tell Clayton and Ms Ellie what happened. Clayton is visible angry as Sue Ellen walks up the steps. He looks t Ellie, “I think it’s time Mr. Pearce and I had a little chat.” Ellie just looks on in worry.

Sue Ellen finds JR tucking John Ross in, reading him a story. He kisses John Ross’ head and shuts the book. “I’m sorry you had to see all that today son. I love your momma so much. When I saw that idiot with his hands on her, I just went crazy. That’s what your momma does to me. I love her, more than my life. I finally have her back and I won’t l anyone take her away again. We’re going to be a family John Ross, one big happy family. I promise.” Sue Ellen slips into the room and kisses John Ross as JR looks at her lovingly. He stands up and they walk out of his room, softly closing he door. They quietly make their way to their bedroom. Sue Ellen walks in and sits in the chair. JR closes the door and stares at her for a moment. He kneels in front of her and takes her hands in his. She pulls away and looks at him. “Did you break his finger on purpose?” She asks with her scratchy voice. JR stands up, “You’re god damn right I did, he’s lucky I didn’t break his neck.”

Sue Ellen looks at him and sighs. “I was hoping you would tell me no. Who are you? When did you become this violent? You almost killed him tonight.”

JR looks at her incredulously, “He almost killed you, or did the blood supply being cut off from your brain make you forget?"

Sue Ellen looks at him angrily. “No it’s a little hard to forget someone’s hands around your throat. You scare me.” JR looks at her, angry for a second and then kneels in front of her once more, “I would never strike you in anger. I did it one time in our life, and I swore I’d never do it again. I love you Sue Ellen, and it’s insane to think we’ll never fight, and no one can make me more angry than you can, but I would never hurt you.” She touches his cheek and feels her heart swell with love at the tender look in his eye. “I know. I’ve never seen this side of you and it worries me. Can we just stay away from Nick until he calms down?” JR kisses her hand, “Yes. I’m going to run downstairs for a nightcap, I’ll be back in a few minutes ok?” Sue Ellen sighs inwardly, “Sure.” JR closes the door and leans against it. Somehow, he would get rid of Nicholas Pearce, for good. He walks downstairs in search of a nightcap. Sue Ellen takes off her clothes and takes a hot shower trying desperately to fight for control of her emotions. Nick may have killed her if JR hadn’t come out. She’d never seen him so angry. She had hurt him and she felt sorry, but she loved JR more than life itself. And he loved her. She finally felt like she was home. As hot water washed away her torment, she prayed things would calm down. Little did she know they were about to spiral out of control.

CHAPTER 18

JR stands by the fireplace with his drink, staring at a picture of him & Sue Ellen, taken right before she found out about Kimberly Cryder. Clayton comes in and gets a drink. Without turning around, “What are we going to do about Pearce?” JR looks at his drink and drowns it in one gulp. Walking over to the bar, he stands next to Clayton. “I’m going to find a way to get rid of him permanently.” Clayton finishes his drink and puts the glass down. “Let me know if you need any help.” Clayton walks away and JR looks after him, smiling.

He makes a phone call to Harry to find out everything about Nicholas Pearce. He got off the phone and looked at the picture once more. He closed his eyes reveling in the fact that he had his wife back and she was upstairs waiting for him. He opened his eyes and silently swore he’d do whatever he had to do to ensure her safety and to make sure she stayed with him. JR stared at Sue Ellen’s picture and was still amazed what just looking at her picture did to him. He started upstairs. For the year she was gone, he looked at her picture every night and fell asleep holding it. Now he had the real thing, and he was going to take advantage of that fact. He was rock hard as he climbed the steps.

Opening the door her found her lying in bed, naked. “Finally, what took you so long?” She smiled seductively at him. JR felt himself harden even more and took his shirt off, letting it fall on the floor. As he kicked his shoes off and unbuckled his pants, she threw the sheet back that was covering her. CHAPTER 19

JR woke up to Sue Ellen kissing his face lightly. He pulled her closer and smiled without opening his eyes, “What time is it?” Sue Ellen whispered, “Almost 6, I’m going to go running.”

JR smiled, she remembered their deal. “Ok honey, I’ll go with you.” Sue Ellen looked at him, “Are you crazy? I don’t need a baby sitter and I run to actually be alone.” Sue Ellen got out of bed abruptly and got dressed. “I won’t be long.” JR looked after her as she shut the door softly. “Damn.” He fell back onto the bed staring at the ceiling. “Good job, boy. Now she’ll be pissed off.” Sue Ellen looked in on John Ross before walking downstairs and finding Clayton waiting for her.

“What are you doing up so early?” She eyed him suspiciously. “I was hoping to catch you. Want an old man to keep you company on your morning jog?” Clayton looked at her hopefully.

Sue Ellen sighed angrily, “Did JR put you up to this?” Clayton looked at her and put his hands up in mock surrender, “No, I really just wanted to talk to you.” Sue Ellen smiled, “Ok, maybe we can just take a brisk walk.” He hugged her, “Oh good, I thought you were going to make me jog.” She laughs at him as they walk out the door.

They walked briskly for about 20 minutes before stopping to watch the sunrise over the ranch. As she leaned against the fence, Clayton watched her. She was still as beautiful as she was the day he met her. He saw the bruises on her neck and immediately felt anger course through him.

She noticed the change in him. “Clayton, there’s nothing you can do to change what happened. It’s my fault anyway.” Clayton grasps her by the shoulder, “No it most certainly is not. Sue Ellen, I learned a long time ago, you can’t help who you love. We don’t get a choice. You love JR, and he loves you. No one will ever be able to replace you in his heart. You never got over him, no matter what you did to each other. You have a right to make any choice you want. I’m sure Nicholas is hurting, but that does not give him the right to hurt you.” Clayton pulls her to him as tears sting her eyes. He lets her cry in his arms until she gets it all out. “Clayton, what would I do without you?” She looks up at him and he smiles. “You’ll never have to worry about that. You’re the daughter I always wanted, and I’ll always be here for you and I’ll never let anyone get away with hurting you.”

He turned her loose, and smiles down at her, “Now I know you still want to run so go ahead. I’ll see you at breakfast ok?” She smiles, “Thanks. Tell my husband I’ll be around the stables, ok?” Clayton smiles as she runs off, “Ok. Be careful.” She waves in acknowledgement. Her thoughts start to clear after a ½ mile of running. How she loved this ranch. She had missed South Fork and the family. She missed JR most of all. Things just spiraled out of control when she left him. She had no intention of filing for divorce, but she had Nick telling her she should, and that they could have a life together. Her thoughts drift back to signing the divorce papers.

She walked into JR’s conference room with her lawyer and sat down across from JR. She wasn’t asking for any money and she agreed to share custody of John Ross with him. All that was left was to sign. Last night she had spent hours looking at her photo album remembering.

She stayed up all night and cried into her pillow

Last night to find the fault seemed so darn easy
But now whose to blame don't matter much at all

He looked at those beautiful eyes filled with tears once again, and agreed to everything she wanted. So now here he was trying to drink her memory away, but it wasn’t working. He fell asleep listening to her favorite cd of love songs, holding her picture, and crying into his pillow.

Sue Ellen signed the papers with a shaky hand. She slid the papers over to JR, and when their hands touched a jolt of electricity surged through him. He looked up into her eyes and fought for control. He looked at her for a moment before sadness washed over him as realization came over him. She signed them, so he had to, for her. He signed his name and that was it. The lawyers walked out of the room and JR and Sue Ellen for left alone in the conference room. She stood up. He whispered her name; so faint she almost didn’t hear it. She looked at him, “What?” JR stood up and stared into her eyes, “I’m sorry for everything. For every tear I ever made you cry. I hope you’ll find happiness. You deserve it more than anyone. I’ll always love you and if you ever need anything, I’ll be there.” Sue Ellen wanted to throw her arms around him and tell him she only needed him, but instead turned her back and walked to the door. “Goodbye JR.” She walked out with her head held high, but broke down as soon as she was safely in her car.

Sue Ellen came back to the present shaking her head to clear it. Thank god that was all over. They were together and nothing could keep them apart now. She would do everything in her power to make sure it worked out between them this time, for her sake as well as his and John Ross’.

JR came downstairs, running into Clayton. He said good morning and Clayton told him Sue Ellen was by the stables. JR found her half way. As she saw him, she waved. A look of terror crossed JR’s face as he saw Nick behind her with a gun. Sue Ellen turned to see what he was looking at. Nick called her name as panic swept over her. She whispered his name as he shot her once in the abdomen. JR screamed her name as the shot echoed. Nick ran and JR ran over to Sue Ellen. He screamed, as the ranch hands came over to see what happened. They call for an ambulance and start looking for Nick.

JR cradles Sue Ellen in his arms. “Oh God…Sue Ellen…stay with me…open your eyes god damn it…Honey..” Sue Ellen opens her eyes for a moment. “JR it hurts.” JR rips his shirt off and holds it on the wound as the family comes running. “I know it does honey, it’s ok. The ambulance is on the way.” He puts pressure to stop the blood. God there’s so much blood. JR silently begs God to save her. The ambulance is heard in the distance. “A little while longer babe.” JR kisses her lips. She whispered to him, “I love you…” She closes her eyes as JR screams her name and the paramedics push him out of the way.

CHAPTER 20

JR rides with Bobby because the ambulance won’t let him ride with SE. The whole family races to the hospital. JR struggles to keep from screaming, as Bobby floors the gas, keeping up with the ambulance. They pull up front and JR races inside, staying next to her until he can’t go any further. JR is covered in her blood, and finally realizes it. He looks down at his hands and falls to his knees in the hall. Bobby comes up behind him and puts a hand on his shoulder. JR stands up and tries to control his emotions. He calmly walks to the nurse’s station and asks where the chapel is. He walks in and closes the door. He sits in the pew and prays for Sue Ellen’s life. “Please, I know I don’t deserve her, but she doesn’t deserve this. I know you’re not supposed to make bargains, but I swear, if you let her live, I’ll try to change my life. I’ll make amends; I’ll do right by people in business, whatever it takes. Just don’t take her from me. Please don’t let John Ross lose his mother.” JR’s tears fall freely down his face. “I won’t make it without her. I had a hard time waking up each day when she wasn’t with me, but if she’s gone, I don’t want to live. Please God, please let her be okay.” JR sits there for about an hour reminiscing and praying.

JR finally gets up and finds his family. He sits down next to his mother and picks up John Ross. After a few hours, JR asks Ms Ellie to take the boys home. Ellie tells Clayton to stay. She leaves and takes the boys home. JR lets his head drop into his hands.

Suddenly he stands up, “Where is the god damn doctor?” AT that moment the doctor comes in. JR rushes over to him, “How is my wife?” The doctor gestures for him to sit. He sits next to JR and starts to explain. “Some one was watching over your wife Mr. Ewing. We removed the bullet, which thankfully didn’t do any irreparable damage to her organs. She lost a lot of blood, but we gave her a transfusion. She’ll be here for a while, but we expect a full recovery. JR closes his eyes, and fights for control once again. “There was one small problem. She lost the baby.” JR looks at him questioningly. “You didn’t know? She looked to be about 6 weeks pregnant, but she lost too much blood for us to save the baby. The good news is there was no damage to the placenta or any other organs, so you’ll be able to have more children. They’re moving her into a private room now; a nurse will come and get you when she’s settled.” He stands up and JR shakes his hand. “Thank you.” The doctor nods and walks out. JR sinks into the chair, as his body starts to shake with relief. Clayton excuses himself, “I’ll call your mother.” Bobby sits next to his brother and puts an arm around him. JR looks at him and smiles through his tears, “She’s going to be okay Bob.” Bobby hugs him, “Maybe we should find some clothes for you before you see her huh? You’re a mess.” JR laughs at him, “Yeah I guess I am.” Clayton walks back in with some scrubs for JR. “This is all they had. They said you could use the bathroom at the end of the hall.” JR gets up and embraces him. “Thanks Clayton.” He goes to clean up.

Did you think I would let anyone keep me from you? I’m not leaving this room until you do. Sleep, you’re safe honey. I’m right here. I love you.”

Look, the Lite-Brite incident has passed and I have my eye back, but I keep getting these electrical shocks in my socket and it makes me more tense than usual, and as far as the teeth/sharp thumb/breast dream - I am still freaked out and I called some of my friends and inquired about it and the common response I got was "Uh Girl, that is some sh*t, and you are a freak", and the Linda Evans thing is even weirder cuz I don't even watch Dyansty and she was all up in her Krystle regalia with these huge ass shoulder pads and was doing something funkay. But my offense comes from the insane comment, come on girl, I am sensitve. See I am crying again.

OK , I can accept the N*** baby thing, as long as there was no paternity crap and the poor lil' half-devil, seahorse is put to rest.

PS - With all of you awesome writers in these fics keep injuring JR or SE, you are keeping them from ideal health, which does not lead to ideal smut. Therefore, a healthy JR & SE = healthy smut. Just a thought.

That car accident in Altanta is not her fault. It's Lucy because she was the one driving...she happenly had been the car but later I will explain it because it comes in later the story about it. Look, the Lite-Brite incident has passed and I have my eye back, but I keep getting these electrical shocks in my socket and it makes me more tense than usual, and as far as the teeth/sharp thumb/breast dream - I am still freaked out and I called some of my friends and inquired about it and the common response I got was "Uh Girl, that is some sh*t, and you are a freak", and the Linda Evans thing is even weirder cuz I don't even watch Dyansty and she was all up in her Krystle regalia with these huge ass shoulder pads and was doing something funkay. CHAPTER 21

Sue Ellen stays sedated for the next week. Clayton brings him a change of clothes and stays with Sue Ellen while JR talks with the doctor in his office. “Dr. Mills, I don’t want my wife to know she was pregnant. No one is to discuss anything with her unless I’m in the room.” The doctor looks up at him, “Mr. Ewing I can’t possibly keep that information from her.” JR grins evilly, “Oh I think you can, or your wife will find out about that cute little nurse you’ve been seeing on your lunch hour.” The doctor looks at him for a minute. “Fine, Mr. Ewing your wife will not find out from me she was pregnant.” JR looks at him for a moment, “I want it erased from her files by the end of the day. When can she go home?” The doctor looks at her chart, “She’s healing beautifully, we started to wean her off the sedative yesterday and she’ll probably be able to go home in a few days.” JR puts his hat on, “Thanks Doc, I appreciate your cooperation.”

JR leaves and goes back into her room. JR has already told Bobby & Clayton Sue Ellen was not going to know about the baby. “Did you talk to the doctor?” JR smiled, “Yep. Everything is fine. She’ll be able to go home in a few days.”

Sheriff Washburn comes into the room. “Mr. Ewing, Mr. Farlow.” JR nods, “What can I do for you Fenton?” Fenton takes off his hat, “I just wanted to let you know we still haven’t found Mr. Pearce yet.” JR’s face contorts in anger, “Fenton, don’t come to me with bad news. You better hope you find him before we do. If we find him first, you won’t have to worry about a trial.” Fenton sighs, “Now JR, I told you…” JR raises his voice and cuts him off. “Fenton, I don’t give a damn what you said. He almost killed my wife. You know what I’ll do when I find him. Bye Fenton.” Fenton quietly walks out.

JR takes a seat next to Sue Ellen. He takes her hand as Clayton sits on the other side. Sue Ellen opens her eyes and smiles at she sees her husband and Clayton. “Hello boys. Been waiting for me long?” Clayton and JR laugh out loud. “Honey, I’d wait forever just see you smile.” Sue Ellen smiles at him lovingly as he leans up to kiss her lips gently but lovingly. JR lets Clayton hug her and then Clayton excuses himself. JR asks him to bring John Ross up after school. JR sits back down and looks at her. She brings her hand up to caress his cheek. He kisses her hand and holds on to it trying to control his emotions. His voice cracks as he speaks, “I missed you.” She looks at him and scoots over carefully and pats the bed. He climbs in next to her and wraps his arms around her carefully, both of them savoring the feeling. She whispers to him, “I missed you. I love you JR.” JR kisses her forehead, “I love you too.”

Sue Ellen drifts off to sleep, and JR thinks about the baby. God help him, she was glad she lost it. If she hadn’t, JR knew she may have left him, for no other reason that so the baby knew its father. She was that type of mother. She even let John Ross live at South Fork with him, even when he was being an asshole, Sue Ellen never said anything to John Ross. He loved her for that, more than she would ever know. JR knew he would have never been able to raise someone else’s child, especially Nicholas Pearce’s. The thought of his wife having Nick’s baby makes JR sick to his stomach. JR lets a small smile escape, but it was okay now. It was gone and they could have another baby. When he got his hands on Pearce, JR thought, he would make him suffer beyond reason. Oh yes he would pay for hurting Sue Ellen, and pay for it dearly. He would make sure Sue Ellen never found out about that dam baby. He would protect her from any more pain and suffering with his last breath.

CHAPTER 22

JR wakes up a short time later and slides out of bed. He sits on the chair and watches her sleep for a moment. She wakes up a few minutes later and looks at him, “Were you staring at me again?” JR smiles at her, “Yes.” She sits up a little. “I can’t wait to go home.” JR kisses her hand, “I know. A few more days.” Sue Ellen looks at him, “I want to see John Ross.” “Momma & Clayton should be here with him any minute.” At that, the door swings open and John Ross yells, “Momma!” “Hi baby.” She looks at JR, “Lift him up here.” JR looks at her like she’s crazy, “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” John Ross looks crestfallen. Sue Ellen looks at JR angrily, “JR, lift him up here.” JR lifts him up carefully and he snuggles into her gently. “I love you Momma. I missed you so much.” “I love you too, baby. Momma missed you.”

A few days later, JR brings Sue Ellen home. As JR passes the gates Sue Ellen sees all the armed guards. She looks over at him, “Did you hire an army?” JR looks over at her. “Something like that. Until I find that sonofabitch, you go nowhere without protection.” Sue Ellen roles her eyes but says nothing.

The family greets her and JR helps Sue Ellen upstairs. After he gets her in their room, she pulls away from him. “I’m not an invalid, JR.” JR just stares at her as she sits in the chair. Nothing is said for a minutes before she looks up at him. “I’m sorry, I’m just…I can’t do anything and it’s driving me crazy.” He comes over and kneels in front of her. “I know honey.” “I know you do. Worst of all, I can’t be with you.” JR gets up and turns the radio on. “Maybe a dance will make you feel better?” Sue Ellen smiles and lets him pull her into his arms. His hands slide gingerly around her waist and her hands slide over his arms and she lets them rest around his waist.

He kisses her forehead and they start to sway to the music. He whispers in his ear, “I know this is driving you crazy. It’s not easy for me either, but you’re alive and that’s all I give a damn about. I could not live without you Sue Ellen.”

She looked up at him and kissed his lips lightly. He kissed her back and then pulled her a little closer. “God, you’ll never know how scared I was that I’d never feel this again. Do you know I actually went into the chapel and prayed?” Sue Ellen looks at him, shocked. “I know, JR Ewing in a chapel. But that’s how much I love you. I would have traded places with you if I could have.”

The first time that I held you girl

They continue their dance. JR inhales her scent, grateful for her to be alive and well and in his arms.

As the song ended, JR stopped and just stared into Sue Ellen’s eyes. His voice cracked just a little as he spoke the last lines of the song to her. She smiled, her eyes watered. He pulled her close to him gently, and held her for a moment. Sue Ellen enjoys feeling safe and loved. “Come on darlin’, let’s get you to bed.” Sue Ellen smiled, “Hmm, I wish to hell we could go to bed. I’m going to be miserable until I make love with you again.” JR smiled, “I know. How do you think I’m gonna be? We’ll just take a lot of cold showers. Hey, at least I get to hold you every night in my arms.” They get into bed and snuggle up contently. “You’re right. It’s better than the alternative of me being six feet under.” JR frowns, “Sue Ellen that’s not funny.” Sue Ellen sighed, “I wasn’t trying to be funny. I’m just thankful to be alive and here with you.” As she drifts off to sleep, JR thinks about how grateful he is for the same thing.

CHAPTER 23

Early the next morning, while it is still dark, Bobby comes in and wakes JR quietly. JR looks at him and Bobby motions for him to come outside. JR slips outta bed and follows him into the hallway. “What’s up?” Bobby smiles at him, “We got him. The boys found Pearce. They’re holding him in the ranch house.” JR smiles evilly. “Let me get dressed.”

He got dressed quietly and slipped out. Bobby, Ray, JR, drove to the ranch house. JR walked in to find Nick tied to a chair, bruised and beaten. He walked up to him, without hesitation. He knelt down to Nick’s level, “Hello Nicholas.” Nick looks up, “You bastard, I swear I’m gonna kill you.” “Oh? I don’t think you’re in much of a position to make threats.” Nick stares at him. “Let’s get him into the car and out to the cliff. They all drive out the spot JR picked. They pour booze on Nick and throw empty bottles in the car. They set Nick in the driver’s seat, wrapped up tight with duct tape. “Now, there are a few things I need to tell you before you accidentally drive off the cliff. The first being this. When you shot Sue Ellen, she was pregnant with your bastard child.” Nicks eyes widen in horror. “That’s right, you killed your own child. But Sue Ellen is fine and when she heals, I’ll make sure she gets pregnant again, and we’ll be a happy little family.” Nick pulls against the tape and cries about the baby. “Now, the last image I want you to be left with is this.” JR pulls out the pictures the photographer snapped when they were on the beach, of JR and Sue Ellen making love. The pictures show everything. Nick is enraged. “That’s right. I love the way her legs wrap around me and the way hew whole body trembles when I make her ***.” JR turns the ignition over and as the car rumbles to life he leans down to him one last time. “You almost killed my wife, as far as I’m concerned, you’re getting off easy.” Nick looks at him and screams. “I’ll see you in hell, you sonofabitch.” JR smiles, “Maybe you will, but not for a long time. You go first and think about how every night for the rest of my life, I’ll be fucking Sue Ellen, and her long sexy legs will be wrapped around me, and she’ll be begging me not to stop, screaming my name, telling me how much she loves me. Have a nice trip Nick.” The hired gun pushes the stick into the gas pedal and pulls the shifter into drive. The car sails over the cliff as JR watches. The explosion is deafening. Ray and Bobby stand next to JR. All three are strangely calm. They walk over to the side of the cliff and watch the car burn, until there is almost nothing left. They hired guns clean up and everyone heads home. JR takes a quick shower in Bobby’s room so he doesn’t wake Sue Ellen. He climbs into bed next to his wife, wrapping her up in his arms. She whispers his name and he smiles, drifting into a peaceful sleep.

CHAPTER 24

Sue Ellen wakes up first and smiles at being in JR’s arms. She kisses his face, causing him to smile, without opening up his eyes. “Good morning beautiful.” Sue Ellen smiles as he opens his eyes, “Hey. I want to go for a walk.” JR’s eyes narrow, “A walk? Sue Ellen you just got out of the hospital.” Sue Ellen puts on her pouty face, “Please? You can go with me, and I promise when I feel tired, we’ll stop.” JR sighs in resignation, “I really hate when you give me the pouty, you know that?” Sue Ellen smiles like a little kid. “I know, but I only use when I really, really want something.”

They get dressed and go for a walk. Holding her hand, JR soul is at ease knowing Nick won’t be bothering them again. He briefly contemplates telling her about the baby, but decides against it. No, he thought she’d have a hard enough time a little later when she found out Nicholas had an unfortunate accident. They walk for a little while just enjoying the weather and each other. True to her word she only walked for about 20 minutes and told JR she was getting a little tired. As they reached the patio, JR saw Fenton’s car in the driveway. JR put on his game face and walked in with Sue Ellen. They walked into the living room where the family was just gathering. “Fenton, I hope you came here with some good news, because I’m tired of hearing you can’t find Nicholas Pearce.” JR helped Sue Ellen sit down, and stood behind her in the chair, briefly catching Bobby’s eye. Fenton cleared his throat. “Mr. Ewing we found Mr. Pearce, about 2 hours ago. It appeared he’d been drinking and had an accident.” Sue Ellen gasped, “Is he all right?” “No mam. I’m sorry but he drove his car off the cliff at Dead Man’s Curve. We found bottles in the car. The bartender where he was last seen said he’d been drinking heavily before they threw him out.” JR kneels next to Sue Ellen, gently cradling her head into his shoulder. “I’m sorry honey. Let me take you upstairs.” JR starts to lead Sue Ellen upstairs and Fenton calls him. “Mr. Ewing I’ll need to talk to you and the rest of the family.” “I’ll be right back down.” JR takes Sue Ellen upstairs and gets her into bed. “I’m really sorry, Sue Ellen, I know you cared about him.” Sue Ellen looks into JR’s eyes, “I cared about the man I knew. Not the one that came out after we got back from Miami. I’m ok JR, I really am. I think I’ll take a nap.” He kisses her lightly, and she kisses him back. “Ok.” He goes back downstairs and Fenton takes him, Bobby, Ray, and Clayton in the den. They all take seats as Fenton starts talking. “I just wanted to let you know this case has been closed as a drunk-driving accident. But I would appreciate no more trouble from this family for a while, if that’s all right.” JR shakes Fenton’s hand, “That’s all right with me. I’m ready for a little peace and quiet.” Fenton leaves and they all look at each other and slowly they all smile.

CHAPTER 25 (Ok…just so you know Nick’s parents are dead, so he has no one)

A few days later Sue Ellen flies to New Jersey, without telling JR. She has set up his funeral and paid for everything. JR comes home, “Say Momma, do you know where Sue Ellen is?” Ms. Ellie looks up from her book, “She went to New Jersey this morning. Nicholas’s funeral was today, she arranged it and was flying back for the small ceremony.” JR’s eyes blaze with anger. “Do you know what time she said she was coming back?” She looks at her watch. “Her plane should be landing within the hour.” “Thanks Momma.” JR takes the limo to the airport, trying to calm down before Sue Ellen lands. The limo pulled up as the plane came to a stop. As the doors opened, JR got out of the car. Sue Ellen caught his trademark Stetson. Shit, he was going to be pissed. She knew she should have told him what she was doing but she didn’t want to fight about it. Sue Ellen walked down the steps and came to a stop in front of him. She looked up at him. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I wanted to do this for him, I needed to. I’ve said goodbye and closed that chapter. I knew you would want to go with me or even forbid me to go, so I didn’t tell you. I owed him that JR. Now, you and I can truly put the past behind us, and live our lives together.” As he listened to her, and saw he beautiful face, his anger melted away and he pulled her to him, hugging her. “I love you honey.” Sue Ellen felt relief wash over her. She hugged JR back, “I love you, too.” She pulls back and looks at him. “Now, let’s go home, handsome. I’m a little tired.” He held the door for her and she got in. JR got in and pulled Sue Ellen into his lap, holding on to her for the ride home.

Once home, they eat dinner and JR sits on the balcony as Sue Ellen takes a shower. When she comes out she walks out to find him deep in thought. She touches his shoulder, “Hey.” He opens his arms and she sits in his lap.

And I kept some of your perfume, and sprayed it on the pillow so I could sleep.” Sue Ellen kissed him lovingly, “Well now you have the real thing.” JR smiles, “I do, and I’m never going to screw it up again. I promise you that.” She kisses his cheek and rests her head on his shoulder. JR thinks this must be heaven, having Sue Ellen in his arms, feeling her breath against his cheek. “I love you.” JR smiles, yes this was heaven. “I love you too.”
